Doc's got a Elite!! Got one today whilst in Game in Weston Super Mare. Must say I like it!, now i need to get a free transfer cable from MS to transfer the data from my old 20GB Drive.

Because why not buy a normal (cheap) one and a VGA cable which does exactly the same job (apart from the 120gb hard drive which you can buy seperately anyway)? You'd have to be a nutter, it's just throwing money anyway.

cheers jack, i'm still debating whether to sell my 360 and get the ps3...i think sometimes i should just be happy with what iv'e got but there's always that nagging doubt

what's your opinion? you seem pretty clued up regarding consoles

120gb Hard drive is £129.99

Also the deals floating around for the Elite are great value. I got one & love it.

I hear Game are doing a deal where you trade in your Premium console and get the Elite for £140. Considering the HD is £130, thats an amazing deal

No, you still need the HD-drive addon.

I'm sure you can get great deals on an Elite but my point was if you already have a 360, buying the Elite is just utterly mental. HDMI isn't noticeably better to the human eye (at least that's the opinion of every magazine review and word of mouth I've heard), and 120gb is ridiculous anyway, unless you're planning on downloading anything and everything off the video marketplace (and it's all toss anyway IMO).

As for PS3 v 360, well, there's whole threads on that mate. ;) My view is, the PS3 will be brilliant this time next year, at the moment it has very little choice and the 360 has some top-class games, so why not wait until then? Or the January sales at the very least, then you'll get a bargain.

thanks for getting back to me mate

to be honest i'm not really a huge gamer, love pro evo & fifa, want a hd dvd player...so that's why i'm considering the ps3

also a completly random question but iv'e bought a 12 month gold live, can it be used by somebody else i.e if i sold it on ebay

If you haven't used it yet (and you've got the card/code in-front of you), then yes.

If I were you I'd wait for demos. If PES2008 is what you want, and you use the D-PAD, it will be better on the PS3 (and I'm telling you now that will be the only reason it will be better on either console, everything else will be the same - Konami have said it several times). But if you use the sticks, or if FIFA 08 turns out to be any good, then I would keep the 360 and save yourself the money.

The wife and I plan to add a PS3 to our gaming bedroom but right now there's no point, nothing exclusive to PS3 we "have" to play :)

Tried the Madden 08 demo and while it looks like good fun I'm sure it would be a lot better if knew what I was doing. :p

I think it might take me a long time to understand how the game works and to know which plays to use.

Anyone know how much Gamestation are giving for an XBox360 Premium trade-in?

I am really enticed by the Elite, esp. since my TV doesn't handle VGA to well, I get a lot of spotty things lol, but the picture is better than component, but I think HDMI should fix it...

They expect you to give them a PS3 AND £50 for an Elite?! A PS3 is worth more than an Elite anyway, ridiculous.

Notice any difference in picture quality when using HDMI?

Yeah I do actually, maybe my eyes are deceiving me but PES6 looks smoother, the colours are more richer and the game even seems to run Smoother with less jittery movement than I noticed with my 360 Core and the VGA Lead. I bought the elite because I am looking forward to the IPTV service and my old 20GB HDD was almost full. Also I love the look of the thing and it looks good sat next to the PS3...

So yeah maybe just this once I used money before sense but im pleased about it.

Just this once? You said you bought a video camera when you could have got it £200 cheaper on Amazon the other week.

Apparently ALL Xbox 360s will have HDMI come next March, so I'm gonna brick my 360 to make it red light, send it to MS, and get a new Premium with HDMI :mrgreen:
