It's out in the US, had a quick play with one when I was over there recently.

Good: Sexy as hell, tiny, beautiful screen, great sound quality and interface
Cons: Still restricted to 32GB max, US only at moment, limit on Video Codecs so you have to convert everything to wmv or H.264

Very tempted to get one if they up it to 64gbs and release it in the UK. Definitely a nicer piece of kit than an iPod, but not much cheaper to import it.
 
convert even mp3 files? 32gb is more than enough for me. whats the battery life like? can it last 20+hours playing music and occasionally messing around with the UI?

That's the only downside to it - you can't search a particular track like you can on the web version, just artists. Seems like a bit of an oversight to me.
 
last.fm is really pointless... you search for an artist and listen to their "radio", but hardly any of the tracks are actually by that artist! Why bother providing the service if you're not going to let people listen to music they like...

Twitter and Facebook also don't have much use for me, as my computer is close to my 360 anyway.

When these things were announced though, I imagined that you would get Facebook/Twitter notifications while in-game, and that you would be able to listen to last.fm while in game, but as it is they are all seperate things which have to be run on their own...

Disappointing.
 
Thank Christ it doesn't, every post for pages would be "SO-AND-SO is playing CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2!" "SO-AND-SO is playing FORZA MOTORSPORT 3!"

The achievements stuff (and the PS3 trophies stuff now) adds enough spam.

Last.fm has always been about creating a continuous tracklist based on the kind of music you like rather than playing a specific artist. I like it because I can get to listen to loads of bands I've never heard of that I might like.

But I know what you mean, you can search for a song on the website so you should be able to do the same on Xbox.
 
Yea, both of the integrations this week have been a let down.

PS3's Facebook integration is nice with trophies etc, but you cannot use Facebook normally (which I thought it was adding) except by going through the clunky browser method.

360's doesnt update your Facebook, but does have built in functionality - but as most have said, its pretty pointless (and Twitter) if you cannot access it in game.

More features that wont get used!
 
It looks like a new 'N' wifi adapter has snuck out. Does anyone know if you'd be able to trade in the previous model against it(it probably wouldn't be worth it so might check ebay)?

Edit: Checked ebay and they seem to be going for around £30-40ish...

what a complete and utter shambles!

just received my 'N' adapter in the post today and spent a good hour trying to set this piece of shit up...

it comes with a driver cd, which you are supposed to install BEFORE you plug in the new adapter.

well... could i get the bloody thing to read!?!?!? it kept saying 'mixed media disc' and wouldn't do anything!

after almost an hour of pulling my hair out, and i was just about to get on the bloody blower to MS, i discovered that i had to change my router security to WPA2, and then PRESTO, it worked!!

wtf!?!?!?

anyway, i'm now able to stream hi-def MKVs and blu-rays from my media center pc in the lounge to my bedroom, PERFECTLY! no lag at all!

Microsoft has announced the content that will appear on Xbox Live over the Christmas period.

The Xbox Live Deal of the Week will start with the Lips Coldplay Track Pack for 240 Microsoft Points (£2.05) from December 14 to December 20.

It will be followed by Shadow Complex for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80) from December 21 to December 27, with The Maw discounted to 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40) for the week of December 28.

Xbox Live Arcade title Alien Breed Evolution (Episode 1) will be available from December 16, followed by the BIG Pack DLC for Trials HD from December 23.

Finally, Viva Pinata will be available for Games On Demand from December 15, Lost Planet and Devil May Cry 4 from December 22 and Gears Of War from December 29.

Microsoft will also be releasing themed avatar content over the next few weeks, as well as a new Holiday Deal each day between December 18 and December 31.

iPhone 360 Live App has been re-released for free after M$ demanded the author dropped the price.

Looks cool - my iPhone is on charge at mo so cannot try, but looks like you can see all your friends, avatars and what they are playing - plus send and receive messages.

This will be cool if you are wanting to know who is about before going online.

Hi, im about to buy an elite today but my main question is does all elites contain the new jaspar chips inside? Is the jaspar chips the latest and most reliable consoles?
 
While no product is completely in-falliable, it's certainly the most stable boards in the machines. If you can check the date of manufacture on the back of the console before you buy it, anything made after April this year, Elites included are all Jasper's. I would very much doubt shops will still have old Elite stock. The summer price drop on the Elites was to clear the old stock in most stores before the new one came in and the Pro's all went too.

They are still different to the Arcade though, as the Arcade has the 512mb/1Gb built in memory unit, Elites will only have HDD memory. Lots of great deals around, however with the amount of crap you have thrown at MS and the 360 why bother buying one?
