Manchester United Thread

Great game... Excellent goal by Roma, brilliant finish by Rooney (he made it look as if he could just put the whole game into slow motion), and then the winner. Looking forward to the next leg - shame about Scholes, though. For a senior player you really wouldn't expect that kind of play. At least he didn't whinge about being sent off though; he knew he'd done wrong.

This is why I love footie fanatics from the UK :) I'll just let the teams do the talking on the field, ok?
I'm from the UK and I can assure you that not all of us are like that.

Just 95%.

Dirty greasy cunts!

Oh well 2-1 isnt all so bad, a draw would have been better but they were nothing special at all, if it wasnt for Scholes' stupidity I'm sure it would have been alot more of a closer game. The Italian Police appeared to be totally out of hand, why not of a line of police seperating the fans instead of some protective screen!. Foreign fans come over here and get top protection. Our English club fans go abroad and get fuck all protection absolute shocking

:lmao:
I can say that the game for me would have been enjoyable either way, though I'm glad to see that A.S. Roma can compete with the leader of the EPL, although, to be completely honest, we've got more to go for here, seeing as Inter Milan has already roped in the Serie A as fa as i'm concerned  Can't wait for the next leg :)

Does anyone else find it ironic that UTD give out a warning to their fans to watch out for hooligans, but the United supporters seem to be the ones were starting crap today (according to what i've read), the warning they gave out was a bit shocking to me, but the win makes up for it.

what a hell of a match!
very good roma and great manchester utd. Playing against roma, in roma, with one man less for more than 1 entire half and with an experimental defensive line..... if u consider all those factors, it was a great performance by red devils :applause:
there were a lot of individual good performances; cassetti, o'shea, vucinic, rooney, mancini, ronaldo. :D
about ronaldo, he's really on fire this year. i'm starting to think that he's not a football player, he looks like a videogame.... each time he gets the ball, he's dangerous. even after 80 minutes of football he still has the strenght and the oxygen to run an to do something magic.

such a silly mistake by scholes.... actually 4 silly mistakes.. after the 3rd foul i was sure he was going to be sent off. this will be a big miss for man utd nex week. another big miss (for roma) will be perrotta who was already booked before this match.

btw that's a good result for man utd. scoring at least 1 goal wasthe most important thing for red devils tonite, and the match is still opened to every result..... even if i still think that man utd will win next week and reach the semifinals.

congrats guys, u support a very beautiful football team. I already knew of course, as i follow premiership, but it was nice to see them facing an italian team tonite.

good luck for the next match ;)

about the supporters, italian media reports that 300 english supporters visibly drunk went looking for a contact with roma supporters. right now they are talking about 3 persons wounded; a man utd supporter, a roma supporter and a policeman.

Also it might give manu and english football a bad rep again

mate, if an english supporter causes troubles coz he's drunk, the the responsibles are italian bars. They knew they weren't allowed to sell alcohol to english supporters today, but still they did it, idiots.

Our English club fans go abroad and get fuck all protection absolute shocking

actually mate, the romans needed protection byt the englishmen tonite
and they actually get enough protection, as those 300 english people didn't caused too much problems, as it seems.

Rooney (he made it look as if he could just put the whole game into slow motion)

that was exactly the same feeling i had
what a hell of a fwd he is!

I think ManUtd were abit lucky

Your not kidding it could have been alot worse!

When you see it, it looks to be the Italian Police making a meal out of it by battering the shite out of some of the United fans, really uncalled for, talk about fueling the fire they should be calming.

well despite the trouble, and the sending off

it was a good game, and hats off to Roma, they did easily enough to deserve the win, just glad we have Ronaldo to help get us a decent result again, and excellent Rooney finish from and excellent Solskjaer cross

Not that upset about the result. The crowd trouble and Scholes' red card pissed me off the most. I'm a hell of a lot more confident about the second leg then I was about this one. I guess it still depends on the line up but we shouldnt have too much trouble. We'll see how Saha does and if things are ok with him, I'd probably put Ole on the right, Ronaldo on the left and then put Giggs where Scholes was.
If only Vidic was fit too, imo things would have been different.

i do ;)

We will beat them at Old Trafford next week, no worrys, the Italian police are a disgrace, they attacked innocent people and even utd officials, scum

You hit that bang on the nail there my friend :D
I try, I try. In the 16 years I lived in Rome, never once did I get into any trouble like what UTD warned against, and I'm not a pure Italian, I'm half Portuguese and speak Italian with an accent :lmao: .

I'm still a bit on the fence about the second leg of this match up, hopefully Roma will have back their injuries, who else here found that Roma did a stunning job shutting down Ronaldo compared to what he's usually up against in the EPL?

I think that the worst thing the Utd. fans can do is doubt Roma, we're a strong team, undoubtedly, and if we can manage to shut down your attacks next week, Man Utd. is in for a show. But we'll see what happens, speculation is cheep.

We lost on the night but the result was somehow in our favour. You could see it on the players after the final whistle.United players were just glad and the Roma players were upset that they couldnt really capitalise on home soil with a man advantage.Poor goalkeeping by VDS on the winner though...He should it palm it upwards or away from where it came.I think he will realise it when he looks at the replays. It was a pretty even match to be honest even after Scholes left. Why couldnt he be like Zidane and dont tackle? Carrick was immense in midfield to say the least. It should be an open return game at OT.Roma will soak and strike while we will be gunning on all fronts right from the kick off.Its Bayern vs Man United in the Semis lads.

yes it's never your fault ..You went to Lille=Troubles,yOU went to Roma=Troubles, so maybe you could look at yourself too in a mirror...

Ps;i'm not saying it's your fault but stop always blaming the others...

You went to Lille=Troubles

In defense of manu, not something i like to do, but they got a 6ooo pound fine an lille got a 42000 pound fine. Think that shows who was actualyl responsible. AS for the roma problems, i wouldnt put it past the ultra's to have set it up. I remember seeing a hooligan documentary with an undercover reporter that went intot he ultra's. Im sure i remember them doing something to set off the police on rival fans.

...... not even me mate, and i've been hundreds of times at the olimpico in my life.......

but, as it seems by now, yesterday, romans supporters decided that this maybe wasn't "good for their image", so they decided (for the first time in their history)to DO something.

and actually they must have done something, if an english supporters has been HITTED BY A KNIFE on ponte Milvio( ).

Now, i'm sure that man utd supporters have their "coolness problems" when it's about to follow ther team out of england....... but if this is really true, if really an englishmen has been hittted by a knife (i guess we'll have further informations today, as by now there's a lot of confusion), then i really hope eufa will disqualify roma from this champions league.

"No-one trusts the Italian league anymore" was a quote I heard on Sky Sports News last night.

"Roma are second domestically but that doesn't mean anything in a league of fraud and scandal - Italian football has lost its beauty and it's ugly head turned on us again in Rome."

Lo Zio, how can you keep defending Roma mate? Was it against Kyiv a few years ago when the fans were throwing stuff at the ref? He was bleeding from his head and the match was abandoned. I really don't like Roma or their fans.

We'll have them at Old Trafford and as for Totti, what a wanker!

does it looks like i'm defending them ? coz actually i'm not :(

but about the "frisk incident", let's put things the right perspective; it was just one idiot who threw a coin.... things like this happens everywhere in europe (apart from england, maybe).

anyway there's a big difference between this and carrying knives.

p.s. why are u blaming totti?

Totti, what the hell? I watched the whole game and all I saw him do was take a few long-range shots. What's he supposed to have done to offend you El Diego?!

English fans reputation precedes them and when anything happens, however slight, the police always over react. Basically they're shit scared of English fans.

I just hate Totti, always have! He is one of them players that makes me cringe when I watch him swagger about the field. Talented, yes but a wanker at the same time.

maybe u'right mate, maybe they were also scared cause they a lot ot them were drunk (wich is our fault, as we didn't have to sell alcohol to english fans yesterday)....but that just can't justify their attitude. So, unless we'll discover they had a good reason to react like that, italian police were shit :(

about totti, diego, i have to disagree with u. he's a nice guy. he just can't control himself, when he's provoked.... he always has to react.
and people know this, his opponent know this, so it happens quite often that he's provoked.

some players, like del piero, never loose their coolness; it's useless to provoke them, and that's why nobody tries to "push" del piero to react.

but when u face playrs like totti, ibra, albelda, rooney, well u know that they could loose their coolness if provoked, so u try to take advantage from this situation (like poulsen did years ago)...

.... and btw, let's be honest..... totti changed a lot in the past few years, it's quite "calmer" now.

anyway anybody has his own likes, so if u just don't like totti, well, it doesn't matter ;)

Sounds familiar...

Read that 3 guys were stabbed on their way to the stadium. 2 middle aged guys (50ties) and a 19/20 year old nephew.

Every country has its problems (chelsea/westham fans recently having a figth with a couple of fulham fans getting injured by being in the wrong place at the wrong time) however italy, like turkey, now have a consistent record of trouble. The frisk incident, the semi last year with inter/ac, this seasons domestic troubles, fraud last year, and over zealous policing(However when one of their own has been killed by "football fans", you cant blame them for going in strong) aswell as the power the ultra's have in the stadium, to di canio making political gestures. Im just worried that UEFA/FIFA are gonna wait till people get killed to truly do something, instead of pathetic 6000 / 42000 fines, the clubs make more money on match day selling pie's! Make that prawn sandwiches as its the manu thread im posting in ;)

Italy atm are the problem country when it come to football trouble, they need to sort it out.
