Manchester United Thread

Interesting draw. Would have preferred PSV, but glad to avoid Chelsea/Pool. Milan Bayern should be a great tie, hopefully to decide who we're meeting...

Odds ot Totti being fit in three weeks (seems to get hurt evry couple months...) could be instrumental to our success (or lack thereof). To be honest I've been nothing but massively dissapointed with our European form for years, so don't expect much. Rooney seems in awe of the stage, and we may well have to rely on Ronaldo to save us again...

Chelsea vs. Liverpool and Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United in the semis, followed by a Liverpool vs. Manchester United final.

Would love that.

By all means not an easy draw at all. Roma defended brilliantly against Lyon and I was a little shocked they knocked Lyon out in the end. The I think its really important United are away in the first leg, I think that could be a key decider

u're right, this could be a factor..... but also lyon played 2nd leg at their home, so.....

btw i've got the feeling theese will be 2 great matches.... or at least the 2nd leg will be. :)

Man Utd vs Liverpool would be one of the most hyped up finals ever. Imagine the riots before the game from both sets of fans.

I can just see it, two terrible games, and Roma will nick a goal in the first half at OT, and we won't reply

or, we'll win, and get to the final, against Liverpool, and then it'll all be interesting

I wont rule out an all english final.Juve and Milan shared the spoils a couple of seasons ago...I had a feeling we would draw an italian team and ironically enough,I choose to play Roma on PES6 before the draw was made.Nicely set up for revenge at Milan if we proceed to the semis.Roma is playing with a rigid formation and an ever hard working 5 man midfield. We have always struggled playing against teams with a 4-5-1 formation.Bring on the Romans still because here comes us Manchunians(No puns intended).Hahahaha.C'mon United!

you will get owned fool roma for the win ! ... ROMA....ROMA...

Mexes is prone to errors, Chivu won't deal with Ronaldo and you'll probably have to rely on the spit-meister Totti for a result, like you always do. United won't be phazed by playing in front of a crowd that sits a mile away from the pitch either.

I think we'll do it - only just though.

What the hell were losing 2-1 at the start of the second half god sake we better win this.

:| wtf, i never heard this before. i think you meant to say. it will be a tight match in rome with utd nicking a late goal from giggs. then back to ot and man u will win 2-0 with a goal from ronaldo and rooney. :D i realise this will be a difficult match and roma having noting to lose. but if we have our first 11 fit and ready( no larsson:( ) then i think we'll win it.

is there any chance for larsson to stay there at least till the end of (english) season?????

.....roma having noting to lose....

i'd say u never were in Roma :) ..... roma supporters pressure is unbelievable.... here in italy they say that winning a scudetto for roma is almost impossible just cause of their supporters pressure.
btw, i'd say thay have a lot to loose, as champions league is the only thing left for them (the scudetto is impossible to reach for them, as inter is just too far). if they will will loose against man utd, then their season will be over.
but i'd say this is a good news for man utd, as roma's biggest weak point is just "pressure".

I hope we dont get a Liverpool/United final, i really dont. All of our sets of fans over in Athens for a few days spells trouble, it would be like having an Inter/AC final, it just wouldnt work.

no i don't think there is any of larsson staying now, i'd like to think united would give it another go and offer him money:lol: to stay.

roma hav'nt won the scuddeto in a few years. but at the start of the season there supporters were not expecting them to win the champions league, and i suppose some supporters thought that they would'nt beat lyon, so in that aspect they have noting to lose as they were not expected to win the champions league.

u're absolutely right mate, but i think that, after lyon's match, roma supporters are starting to believe they can make it, and, with the scudetto already in Inter's hands, roma supporters expectations will be high.

too bad larsson is leaving :(

your rite matherto, he won't be tempted by money, larsson has always kept his word and never changes his mind.

@ lo zio, roma's supporters need to come down to earth if they expect roma to win the champions league( i'm not saying it impossible and i'm not saying man u are going to win it)but it will be hard for them to beat us and then go to munich or milan and get to the final, every team at this stage have a chance and won't give in without a fight.i have watched them in seria a this season, and they hav'nt impressed me, inter have been the best team and i liked them v ac milan today.:D cruz baclheal he near scored was brilliant.

absolutely agree. actually i think man utd has more chances to go trough the next stage (even if, as u correctly say, at this point, everything can happen and nobody will give in without a fight).

roma's supporters need to come down to earth if they expect roma to win the champions league

that's what i was talking before: roma supporters are not used to "stay down on earth" and the pressure they use to put on the team is roma's biggest weak point.

i have watched them in seria a this season, and they hav'nt impressed me,

i'm quite surprised by this but it's natural to have different opinions :)

inter have been the best team and i liked them v ac milan today. cruz baclheal he near scored was brilliant.

that's for sure. inter is a tornado this year. strenght and quality (..... and this is a big surprise for me).
to bad they didn't played in europe the way they're playing in italy:(

i watched inter v ac the day, great match. i thought ibrahimovic was great. but the main key if roma are to beat us is totti and mancini, they'll need to be starting.

Sucks that citeh are gonna be deflated after the FA cup exit. Had hoped they'd be a bit more up for the chavski game. Can't see them helping us out, if anything a loss to them is probably acceptable as it hurts us!

you'll probably have to rely on the spit-meister Totti for a result, like you always do.
Woah Woah woah, I know I don't post much, but is the flame bait really necessary? I recall Ronaldo pulling United out of quite a few ruts this season... (That and from most of your posts, it does seem like you are forum troll material :/ )

This CL game will be painful for me either way  I'm a Roma native, but I'm also a really big United Supporter, so I win, and I loose no matter what. I would absolutely love to see Roma win though, just because it's really the only thing we have to go after, Inter has been playing immaculately in the Serie A, so this is it for us. Though you're dealing with an Italian defense here, I've seen many an attacking player put the white flag up in Italy and go play in the EPL because they cannot cope with an Italian defense. Who knows, maybe Rooney will be on his period that week :lmao:

Who have The Chavs got at the weekend? they play at the Citeh council rec on weds night.

My bad...it IS on wednesday night.Beachryan, because of their loss in the FA cup, they would have to ante up their game against Chelsea...They dont want to lose at home and increase their chances of being relegated wouldnt they? As piss poor as they are right now, they should salvage some glory in this game. They have too.I saw a report on ESPN,how the supporters are calling for Stuart Pearce's head and how they chant "You are not fit to wear the shirt.".Classy Joey Barton took of his kit and threw it at the fans right after the game.Thats a moment to saviour.Hahahahaha.:lmao:
