Manchester United Thread

Unless we sign Senna by tonight, I dont think a deal is possible since he gave United a deadline to finalise the transfer by today or he remains a Villereal player.

Personally if it came down to who I'd prefer it would be Hargreaves because of his age and nationality, since he wont need time to adept.

He plays in Germany and was brought up in Canada so what relavence does his nationality have other than you saying "we have more English players than you"?

Yep looks like another target gone. At least we tried. Its just so frustrating how much bad luck we have in the transfer market. Its either the player wants to joing real or chelsea. Or the club acts like a twat and doesnt want to sell even though the player wants to leave.

how is it bad luck? why are bayern acting like twats?

if anything it's hargreaves who's acting like a twat if he thinks he can just leave like that, bayern have put a lot of effort into bringing him up plus the fact he's got 4 years left on his contract means they don't have to sell if they don't want to, maybe in a couple of years time they will sell if he doesn't sign an extention but for now his future is with bayern unless they say any different

If you read the post, the relevance is stated as he 'won't have to adapt'. He speaks English and language is very important when you move to a new country.
I should know. I live in Japan and if it wasn't for my wife, I'd be on my arse.

If the player wants to leave, why force him to stay? The man is 25, by the time his contract ends in 2010 he be 29 and who is going to be interested in him then? He may get a move to Bolton if hes lucky. Plus he has been at beyern munich for since he was a teenager and thats long enough for him to have paid his loyalty.

If players dont respect their contracts whats the point then? People will be leaving every day.

I dont think players would be leaving everyday as it depends if they attract interest or not. Im sure your aware when your under contract players just cant talk to anyone they like or leave on a free.

looked good today. What was that challenge on Giggs about? Is there a history there? Should have been a straight red. He should get a lengthy ban for that

Superb opening performance but just goes to show how much we'll probably miss Rooney and Scholes for the next 3 games.
Any ideas when Carricks back?

Start with a bang.Thats what we needed and I'm proud of the lads today.Everybody on the attacking front looked hungry.I have to say it again, our preseason has been superb and you can see the difference between the two clubs today.Fulham looked clueless at times.I'm really happy for Saha,Ronaldo and Rooney for gettin on the score sheet...Great start, great mood and lets trample Charlton next.

IMpressed with the way evra conducted himself he had a very good game, just hope he can play like that week in week out. He sure does like his sliding tackles.

Fingers crossed we can sort out a deal with Bayern munich. I think Hargreaves is the missing ingredient to the line up. iF we get him we'll look formidable as a squad. It also mean we don't want to see lanky john O'Shite in midfield any longer.

right then, just got back from Spain after a week, no english telly, so I've had to rely on the papers, and of course, we played today, whilst I was on the plane. So speed me up with things

Hargreaves....coming or not....(bet this has been asked a lot)
Senna.....it's all gone quiet....

the performance (gonna watch it later on the repeat/MOTD2)....top of the league....5-1...perfect?

Hargreaves has expressed his intrest in wanting to join United, Fergies been wanting him before the World Cup and said his (Hargreaves') performances in the WC was the worst thing that could have happend. Bayern say theres no way of him leaving despite him Hargreaves being dropped from the Bayern team today.

There was a deadline to buy Senna on Friday, nothing happens looks like he stays at Villareal

Todays performance - United crushed Fulham, 4 goals in the 1st 20 mins says it all really, it was cruise control! hope that helps

I don't think 5-1 was a fair result on the whole complection of the game. First 20 minutes you should have been 5 up, but after those bizarre 20mins we started to play a bit better, and get into it a bit more.Fair result- 3-1.I think Man U will finish 1st this season if you can beat Chelsea. And Quadreue has skills- did anyone else see him do those two skills down the left flank.

no i don't think 4-1 was fair either, thats why man utd won 5-1 today.

If Ronaldo had played in the WC like he did today he would probably be in the final. What a wonderful display, objective, passing the ball around, powerfull and efficient. Great game from him and from Man utd as a whole.

PS - Do you guys think Man Utd will make any big signing? Does the club lack the money or something?

United were amazing today! we showed how deadly we are in attack and that the emphasis this summer for Fergie was team work. Ronaldo was amazing, everything he did was positive and team orientated. Ruud Van who?? We didnt miss the no 10 dutchman :)

well, there is Hargreaves and Senna.....despite the fact the club is in debt, Fergie is being given money to get players which is great. And right now, we can be proud to say we are top of the league. Hopefully it can last, we'll see in about 10-12 games.

as for Ronaldo, he looked great, had a smile on his face, and actually played as though he was part of the team. He should still have put that shot away for the 6th though

I kinda like this new "no nonsense" Ronaldo. No tricks or stepovers, just simple and direct which gets the job done a lot quicker.

I'm really liking how the team's turning out and all our youngsters are looking hungry too.
