Manchester United Thread

Just read that Fergie said Ruud asked to leave before the Arsenal cup final last year. If that's the case you can kind of begin to see why he was kind of lukewarm on the pitch, and fergie didn't build the team around him. But i'm not sure I buy it...

Marukom - I subscribe but you can't generally watch live games, aside from some this preseason it seems. Last year it was just highlights. not bad quality though :)

I believe SAF as Ruud just could'nt be bothered at the end of ;ast season. Now we see why he was left on bench in Carling cup final.

Bye Ruud!!!!!!

WOW! Ruud wanted to leave before last season, and still manage 22 gols.SAF that`s hard to beleive, but your Boss will buy it  and that`s 22 gols on a 3/4 season

hm...why haven't i seen any confirmation on Vieria headin to Inter??? hopes? LOL

yeah, we still have lots of time...just seeing how all the other English clubs and such have all bought so many great quality players...sort of made us all rush wondering why we haven't landed anyone yet.........

Maybe because he's been linked with a move for Barça, in exchange for money + Motta.
I cant see him choosing ManU over Barça...

If they get him and Trezeguet it's game over for every other team on the planet... :S

I wonder if Ruud is at Carringdon right now...bizarre. I feel like he can afford the two week wages hit ;)

So it's got to be this week or next week, lest we have no signings at all. I wonder if SAF thinks his one last legacy could be taking a team without any signings, that have lost their key striker and still managing to come second. I'm sure the Glazers wouldn't complain too much. I do wonder if he doesn't think that United can't compete with Chelski, and as such spending is just a waste. I hope not, because I fear he'll learn the hard way that all the pool/spurs spending this offseason might brign them to a higher level than United... :(

The thing that pisses me off is that we are suppose to be a big club and one of the richesh clubs in the world but the club is so tight assed with money we dont get any big players. If you compare our squad to the current Real madrid, Inter,Barcalona, milan and chelsea our team looks completly shit compared. Even Liverpool and Tottenham look to have better balanced squads than Uniteds at the moment and God forbid even Newcastle are getting better, their midfield is looking good.

Well Ruud is at Carringdon...interesting. No Ronaldo yet I don't believe, nor the England crowd, so maybe peaceful at this point. Should be fun when Rooney, Ronaldo and Ruud are back together again. Sigh.

Alucard - Spot on. If we really are to be the biggest club in hte world like we want to be, we need the players to do it. Maybe one day we'll look back and laugh at the day we doubted the then legends John O'Shea and Darren Fletcher, but I sincerely doubt it.

Bloody hell Duff to Newcastle for 5m!!!!!
It makes sense, Newcastle ain’t going to trouble Chavski anytime soon, they'd be stupid to sell a quality player like Duff for 5 mill to Spurs, ‘Pool or yourselves. Bargain for the Toon though.

SAF is a joke.

TRUE !!! we need a left winger for giggsy! a couple of years ago we where in for duff but what happens now? magies get him, damm...

one posstive aspect is that SAF looks for english players, i really appreciate that !

i hope we get carrick and a other english man..

rafau

5million is criminal. United defintley should have atleast tried to get him. This is what I mean by big players. Fans dont expect to get 30million worth players who are at the peak of their career and reputation is sky high. But we atleast expect we go for the players who have proven themselves countless of times, like Duff.

Richardson is lined up to take the left wing. And if you've seen preseason/end of last season, that's not such a bad thing. He's younger, faster and improving. I also think SAF has Evra as a possible sub for that position. I don't think the wings are our problem at all.

Midfield is. Striker may be, maybe not. Oh and goal keeper, if Foster leaves.

No news today concerning transfers execept for Ruud's impending leave to Bayern Munchen.I read an article another day about Sir Alex commenting on Ruud leaving us.He said it wouldnt be a problem...Alan Smith will be converted back into his natural strikers role!!...Say we get Torres then I can imagine that he will say..."Sorry Alan, off you go...back to the midfield group, you actually do have the tenacity of Keano!"

Fernando Torres & Aletico have a conference tomorrow morning.

Hopefully to sort out if hes staying or not!

Hopefully he'll say 'fuck it, I'm not staying, I'm going to Man United....'

and then we can actually bloody sign someone for once

well....we are one of the richest...or most profitable clubs in the world...but remember the big debt that we are in because of Glazers....that can be a reason why we aren't spending...but sigh....stupiid!!!!!

Even before they came in, we were tight as fuck with money! There really is no excuse. We've become a talk talk club. All you hear is the players and the manager talk about what they intend on doing, then there is no action. Ferguson says he intends to sign a midfielder to replace Keane. He has been saying that since Janaury.

he just said that again in Manutd.com saying how it's his first priority and how our strikers are fine so far....

sigh...and i thought our elimination in the early stages of CL last season was enough to be a wake-up call for the whole team...guess not...sigh...when will 1999 repeat itself?? when will those days come back?? sigh....

i dont tink chelsea will sell their winger to their closest competitor last season.... it would be like slapping themself in the face.. that explains why they sold to newcastle, coz newcastle dont really post a threat to them

Wrong. They were willing to do business with Liverpool and tottenham but Duff himself said he chose newcastle.

I wonder what made him choose Newcastle? Liverpool and Spurs have more ambition and a stronger squad than Newcastle do. We are demonstrating again this season that we lack ambition. It would be great to hear later on this week that we are closing in on Torres but I dont think that will happen.

You got a point. Newcastle is more of a step down career wise. No champions league football and newcastle are not going to win the premiership which Duff has already won Its a weird decision although I know he said he prefers the supporters but even thats a stupid reason to go to a club that hasnt won a trophy for God knows how long now.

Maybe being at Chelsea & London was so crap that Newcastle was a step up. Plus i think he misses being up north tbh.

So no Torres and Ruud looks bound to leave. Looks like we'll actually be weakening out squad this summer...

I hope Fergie isnt thinking everything will be ok because Scholes and Solskjaer are back. Neither of them are going to last the season fully fit, you cant expect them 2 players to go a full season without injuries

'I would have gone almost anywhere just to get away from David Moyes. If no-one had come in I would have joined Newcastle,' Rooney wrote in My Story So Far, serialised in the Daily Mail.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH i would have joinend newcastle!

Ole Solskjaer was injured and couldnt play against the Kaiser Chiefs,so there you go...Sir Alex said that Ole is back? I say Ole is just merely filling in the blanks...Nando Torres wants to stay at Madrid and our situation isnt getting any better.
