Manchester United Thread

Milan today said they're not going for Ronaldo, Ruud or Drogba because theyre center forwards, which we've already got. So cancel Milan out for Ruud.

so Mikel has gone to Chelsea, it appears he loves being Don Abramovich's bitch. C'est la vie....

anyways, £12 million, let's see what we can't do with that

The thing is we cant just waste the money on one midfielder when we actually need about two or three. If If Lyon ask too much for Diarra then maybe Fergie should look at someone like Baraja, for me the exact sort of player we need.

yeah....one isn't really an answer...we do need a few quality ones, and don't have to be World Class......

as for if Ronaldo does come...that would be a dream come true for me....my favourite player at my favourite club!!!! He did say that he loves the fans and the atmosphere at OT........(fingers crossed)

I was thinking of those comments when I suggested it :) As for the Mikel money, we get £6M now and £6M next season. To raise cash we could offload a couple of deadweights like Fletcher etc. As I said before, I like the idea of bringing Nigel Reo-Coker in from west ham. We are being linked again with Eidur Gudjohnsen today and Tottenham are watching St Etienne target Didier Zokora (who sounds like the type of player we want) though I get a nasty feeling it might be another Djemba Djemba waiting to happen.

I actually mentioned a Ruud for Ronaldo swap a month or so ago (before Ruud looked like leaving) as a bit of a joke. I thought I was beating the papers to the story and could not believe that it hadn't been suggested yet.

Cast your minds back to France 98. Ronaldo had dinner after the tournament with Ferguson sparking Ronaldo to Man Utd stories. Seems like they know each other pretty well.
He would be just what we need as most of our attacking play is pretty cramped. How many times last season were the opposition pummeled by us but we couldn't find that yard of space?
Ronaldo can make his own space. I'd be well chuffed if we got him. It would also but us back on the map for big players (hey, remember us? and you'll play as well unlike at Chelsea)

Ronaldo is a big fat bufoon, Shevchenko is the man and Arsenal have the best striker in the world. :-(

When he bangs in the goals in the world vup you wont be saying that. If we can get him then we should, not too many world class strikers out there.

But the thing is, Rooney is a player who works off another player. As good as Rooney is, we need to find a good partner for him if we want a deadly attack.
Someone like Henry or Shevchenko can do it alone but Rooney plus another striker is potentially much better.

Maybe Ronaldo wouldnt be such a bad idea. Rooney, Ruud and Ronaldo (the brazilian one) would be good for atleast the next two years. All we need to do is tell Saha to f*ck off.

So I've been thinking if we're really keen on offloading Ruud, why not a straight swap, no money deal for Michael Owen? He may not be at his best right now, but I can't imagine he's actualyl that happy wiht a club like newcastle, and he's quick and smart. Not fantastic at holding upt he ball, but good at everything else.

Its not sounding good with Ruud, I think fergie is going to have actually bite his pride and formally apologise if he's to stay. Which we all know isn't going to happen.

Owen would be perfect but I dont like the idea of Ruud playing for Newcastle. It'll only cause us problems if he becomes a hit over there.

Why can't fergie simply give freedom to C.Ronaldo to be a SS. He makes wonders with Portugal in that position.

Oh well about R9, that would be a class signing. Would really improve the attack of the team by a mile. Even if you couldn't get him getting rid of Saha is almost mandatory. Two seasons at OT and hasn't showned what he did at Fulham.

I agree with you, except about Saha. I think if he can stay fit then he is a very good player, maybe I wouldn't have him as first choice but definately as a backup. His form since the Carling Cup final was impressive. I'd love to see Ronaldo given the freedom he is for Portugal. I saw the Keano testimonial and Ronny played there and bagged the only goal too. With his pace and trickery thats where he needs to be, he's not a crosser he's a dribbler.

As for R9 - man that'd make my summer :applause:

I used to think I'm being harsh on Saha cuz he wasnt given a chance. But after seeing him, I think he really sucks ass. Yeah he scored many goals but they were the type of goals where he was in the right place at the right time. If Ruud was playing instead, he probably would have scored them too. But when Saha is in a situation where its up to him to score alone, he f*cks up all the time. Ruud, Rooney and even Smith would put away a hell of a lot more chances than Saha would on his best day.

Well said mate.

He is pants!

One of my mates saw Saha and Bellion against Blackpool reserves and he said they were both shit. People say 'yeah, but they've got pace'. Let's sign Linford Christie.

Saha only seems to do well when he doesn't have to think about what he's doing. Too many times this season he's had plenty of time with a goal scoring opportunity as just messed it up. It was the same when he was at Newcastle...
I think we should offload him (Portsmouth have got money now?) & go for Ronaldo. Who knows, it might spark other players to want to play for us again.

Why is everyone so keen on getting rid of Van Nistelrooy? The man is a goal-machine. Scored two for Holland in the last few games. Fuck Ronaldo - he is fat and overrated.

I wouldnt mind R9 joining us.He always said that Old Trafford is a special stadium to him and England would definitely be a stop before he retires.Even if critiques are saying that he is fat and overrated,he will still get the job done.It is proven that he will rise to the occasion when the chips are down.If he comes,I'm sure our fitness coach(forgot the name) who was from Real Madrid will whip him into shape.

I hope we keep RVN, and if R9 is available why not? He might not have the pace he had when he was at Inter, but he's more prolific than Saha. How many chances weren't converted last season due to poor finishing?
If he did join United I'm sure SAF would whip him into shape pretty soon anyway.

People seem to think Viduka is a good player & he's not exactly as slim as Peter Crouch is he? (might be a better dancer though!)

R9 overrated? geez, Real Madrid really fcuked up his reputation. A world class striker who would score loads of goals. He is surely fat, but I still seem him outrun defenders and score goals easily. I wonder if he gets fit?

RONALDO! LOL

i think my avatar spoke that for me...hahahaha

but to be honest, we are not trying to ship Ruud out...it just seems like...he is gonna be gone after this summer....i like the guy, he's great!! but if he is gonna leave....i'd rather get another striker than Saha pairing with Rooney...

as for Ronnie being fat...if even Parreira says that he's fit...i have faith and confidence in him.....just wait till this World cup!!! i'm sure he will shock a few of you here!!!

If we get Drogba and Gallas from Chelsea, I doubt we'd switch for Ruud, especially if we have 2 other strikers who play just like him. I think we might let Gattuso go and get Diarra since we've been on to him for a while.... would love that.
Chelsea don't want to get rid of Gallas, they said earliest is next year.
Anyone know why Milan didn't make a Gallas swap with Sheva moving to Chelsea, they had the chance to make Chelsea do something for them.

Anyway, rumours say that SAF will cut his holiday short to watch Riqueleme play in the WC. (He should be at the WC anyway scouting ;) )

They did according to Galliani, but Mourinho really wants him for 1 more year since Gallas wont renew. Its up to Chelsea to let him go.. which I hope.
