We wouldn't be champions even with Beckham. Our style of football lets in too many goals, same as Arsenal. Chelsea, and Liverpool's, stifling game will win the prem for the forseeable future, that is, unless we or Arse become as fantastic as Barcelona.

sure we let in too many goals, but that's because only Vidic, Neville and Brown are any good at actually defending. Rio and Silvestre make too many mistakes. With Beckham crossing, we'd have plenty more chances to score, cause we need 100 instead of 50 to actually score atm. Then maybe we could adopt the classic 'if you score 3, we'll score 4' mentality

Its not wise to compare Becks with Ronaldo.Totally two different styles of playing.Ronaldo cannot provide what Becks gave us and vice versa. For the record,Becks will still deliver to any team he plays for.

Maybe so, but Beckham is at least 100 times better than Ronaldo. Ronaldo gives us fuck all tbh. Apart from several wasted free kicks, crosses and tricks. He provides absolutely no end product, nearly all the time. Becks it's great crosses at least 90% of the time

Nah Bentley!

He does have that problem but would have him over the othe centre backs but partnered with Brown.

The biggest thing we're forgetting is that he's young.

EDIT
Damn, you guys post so fast.

This happened on a few occasions where we totally domonated a game and let in a shit goal (Fulham, Birmingham). On some occasions, we just won't score and it will finish 0-0 or even 0-1. Ferguson said 'Liverpool only need to play for 5 minutes'. He's right, because they stifle the game so much that it's almost impossible to score against them. They click for 1 or 2 attacks and get the goal, then shut up shop again. Chelsea are the same, and now that they have Shevchenko, they only need to give him a couple of chances to get the goal they want then it's bore the opposition to death time and catch them on the break.
I pray that Ferguson, Wenger, etc, will work out how to beat these bores or it come become a pretty shit game in England.

Another nice morning as a United fan : Chelsea sign Sheva, Fergie says Scholes will be back to his best next season. Well that's great to hear, lets not sign anyone, we'll have a scholsey circa 2001/2! Who needs new blood!

*sigh*

If any of the rumours about the press conference being held on the 5th of June is true...I'd take a crap in my pants.Cambiasso,Ribery,Riquelme,Torres and Mascherano?? Sounds like someone is playin friggin FM2006 to me.

^
 That would be a scoop but like you said it sounds more like someone buying players on a management game

Erm, June 5th all of those players should be in Germany, not sitting off somewhere in Manchester donning red. Not going to happen. If it does, well I think the Glazers will suddenly have about 20 million new friends.
But not going to happen

probably
Fernando Ribery, Esteban Riquelme, Frank Mascherano, Juan Torres and George Cambiasso.

Just a thought. If Everton could buy Andrew Johnson for £8.5 million from Crystal Palace. How could we be interested in selling Ruud to AC Milan for £8 million only? Another day went by another disappointment,Marseille chairman Pape Diouf claims he has told Manchester United that exciting France winger Franck Ribery is not for sale.Bummer.

Hes for sale as he does not want to play for them. Gotta wait until after WC!

Apparentky Aimar is available, prefer him over Riquelme.

Riquelme is a class player, but then so was Seba Veron. I just wonder if Riquelme could adjust to United's way of playing I hope he could coz Riquleme at his best would help the team no end.
Dare I say I think we should also take a punt on Nigel Reo-Coker, he isn't in Riquelme's class but he can do a good job in the Premiership, he's young and I'm sure West Ham would sell for the right price. He is by no means the finished article, but with United's record of improving players I reckon he'd flourish.

I hope we get Diarra from Lyon however they're playing Michael Essien games again so I wouldn't be too sure United will play ball there.

Ribery sounds exciting, but do we really need another winger as priority? The money needs to go on a couple of top class central midfielders, preferably one attacking (in the Gerrard mould) and on disruptive, defensive sitting in front of the back 4 (eg Vieira type) Javier Mascherano is the name that jumps out here, however there'd be the same adjustment questions as with Riquelme.

I think we should get Ribery for the sake of not letting our competition have him. And the player himself is good enough to replace Giggs or fight Ronaldo for a starting place. If we sign him, we'd have 4 wingers (excluding Richardson) just like Chelsea and Giggs isnt gonna be around for too long now anyway.

I dont think the DM position is as important as we think. The problem wasnt in missing a good DM but rather a lack of midfielders in general. And to see the lads do so well with guys like Giggs and Rio in midfield is amazing. I think we could get an average midfielder and that would be enough till the end of next season.

No we need a great one now!

Especially in Europe

We get 12million for Mikel!!!

SWEET!

SWP...

Loving it, he's such an idiot. I hope he enjoys the london lifestyle, cause he won't see any football any time soon. I wonder how much Shittu made today.

On a down note, £12m is worth nothing unless we turn it into success, ie players. Maybe we can offer half of that to Ruud as a sorry ;)

We dont NEED one. A half decent one would be a million times better than no midifielder at all (which is the current situation). We still lack the ability to destroy teams like Chelsea and Arsenal do every now and then. And if we can improve this with someone like Ribery and Torres, that would be much more important. Seeing how we will have Heinze to come back for us, our defence will be tougher than ever. Even if we DO get a world class DM, he wont have much of a job to do in helping us conceed fewer goals. Which is why, if we go and get a good DM from the Premiership somewhere, that will be enough.
Its like when we were dying for a decent keeper before VDS came along. Even though VDS is miles better, we havent really been succeeding any more than we used to.

hm.....so will we get a new striker?? i mean, if Van Nistelrooy is gonna leave, aren't we gonna et replacement?

as for Midfield....if Requelme is coming....that would be SWEET!!! and i just wanna wait for Monday to see if this will be true.............

Can't see it myself. Everyone's in Germany.

I doubt we'll get another striker. We've got saha, Solskjaer, Smith and Rossi.
I can also see Heinze, Rio or Vidic in defensive midfield sometimes so I reckon we might just be getting one midfielder.
If we get the two players promised to us, I think maybe another winger. Giggs isn't getting younger and I can also see Ronaldo in the middle more as he gets better: He'll want more of the ball.

Why cant Sir Alex just realise that its probably better keeping Ruud than gambling on a transfer? I think the World Cup is Ruud's final chance to convince Sir Alex that he's making a big mistake. Ruud is already a legend at our club and it would probably be the second most painful departure for me after Beckham.

If we only get two players, it'll be Diarra and Ribery IMO. It would probably be wiser to hold onto Ruud for another season, get some half decent midfielders, and then after doing well next season (assuming we do, which we should with the new players), we could maybe attract a world class DM or striker to come to OT. I'm still holding on to my wish for Adriano. All skill and talent aside (which both have a lot of anyway), him and Rooney would probably be the most frightening strike force based on physical attributes alone.

Inter would want Chelski money for Adriano, besides from what I've read about him he loves being in Milan, so I doubt he'd want to come over here. I'd like to see United enquire about Ronaldo (Nazarro da Lima) I know he's a bit off form recently but I think a change of team would perk him up and he is class (I bet he proves it again in Germany) Maybe if Madrid still want Ruud (and we can't keep him at OT) It'd be great as a short term thing (maybe four years) and it would give us an added dimension upfront - Imagine Rooney and Ronaldo spearheading our attack with Giggs and Cristiano on the wings! :applause:

Would not mind that at all.
