Manchester United Thread

Basically Saha is scoring goals and playing well. He is also training well and probably looking better and sharper than Ruud - we paid a lot of money for the Frenchman - why not use him afterall he is world class!

Ruud will be hungrier than ever when he returns now - no player is bigger than United as Fergie has proved before with the Beckham transfer.

its kind of weird, most of the unknown players(back then) that i scouted for my master league turned out quite decent, Hleb,Vogel,Torres,E'to
i tink my talent scouting abilities are not bad... i know a good player if i see one... when rooney was at everton, i was already watching him, blasting those volleys/shots few in the footballing stage can match

anyway, todays match was quite boring to watch that i fell asleep after united got a 2 goal cushion, nontheless fantastic performance by saha, finished well, and i can see vidic starting to get used to his new team although he doesnt perform like what "they" say how good is he b4 he came

Vidic came with high expectations which were pretty tough to live up to. I'm sure he'll be ok once he settles in.
Not too sure about Evra. His attacking style isnt something that we're used to seeing from a wingback at United. If he works on his defensive duties, he'll be seeing more first team football IMO.

And I brought up the Saha thing cuz although this is great for the team, he's only gonna drive Ruud out of the club cuz he'll get the impression that we dont need him. He's been on the bench for quite a few games now and it wouldnt have hurt if he got 45 or even a few minutes under his belt. But seeing him not taking much part in the team is worrying.

Firstly welcome back. I think Vidic and evra will settle in nicely. The first games they started were hard games to come into. Evra pretty much got thrown into the deep end in manchester derby. Vidic came in with hard physical test against Blackburn who we usaully struggle against. The leagues these guys came from would have been far less intense then any game they played in the premiership. So you got to understand they got to be given time to adjust to the surroundings and language. I think even now we will start to see the best of these signings, vidic did very good today.Evra played very well and show signs of what he has to offer to this club when he came on at old trafford last week against newcastle and read the game well.

I too am worried about the situation with Ruud. I can understand Saha playing League cup Final since he was top scorer in that competition. But replacing Ruud in the premiership is kinda hard to take since ruud is/was top scorer and hardly put a foot wrong prior to getting relegated to the bench for the last 4games.

We should be worried.

I do think he will play against Arsenal but other games aint too sure

You know what would be a real disaster? If Ruud played 60 mins without scoring and then Saha came on and scored the winner...

after that you could say bye bye to Rvn;)

The problem with this is that Ruud is obviously the better player but we could easily be left with Saha.

Had a long think about Ruud situation. Imagine if were at say, Chelsea, or Barca, or another team with a few top quality strikers. If the others are playing better, then he would be sitting on the bench. Its up to him to earn his place in the squad. That said, all i can hope is that Fergie is just doing this to a) let saha show him what he can do and b) show everyone at the club that they can earn their way to a first team place, and keep it if they perform. As long as those are the reasons, then I'm all for it.

How's The Splinters Ruud?
Louis Saha knows exactly how Ruud van Nistelrooy feels - and could not care less. The French hitman's hot streak continued with a well-taken double to keep United in second place... and van Nistelrooy on the bench for the fourth game on the spin. Saha said: "I know exactly how Ruud feels when he is sitting on the bench because I have experienced the same thing many times myself. Now I am in the team I just want to keep making the most of it by scoring goals and helping the team be as successful as we can be."

Steve Brenner, The Sun.

If Saha meant what he said in this article then I'd have to say 'Bravo'.I mean,Ruud van Nistlerooy has got to stop acting like a baby.If he hadnt learnt that nobody is bigger than the club itself, especially when Sir Alex is still around, then I'd have to say that he is a big fool.He has to bide his time and keep working on.If he desperately wants to play,he has got to contribute in more ways than one.I'd make Sir Alex believe that I could play alongside Saha if I were Ruud.

Maybe sulking off in the Carling Cup final
well i woudl rather him do that, then not give a ratts ass, means he is competetive and wanted to be on the field to help his team mates when the title, any player would have been pissed, didnt roy keane do the same thing in the 99 champions league final?!!?!?!?!? cmon people think

I personally dont like Ruud attitude with the whole situation cuz he's obviously forgetting that Saha was once in the same position and he stayed loyal to the club.
But I do understand that from Ruud's point of view, what has he done wrong? Its not like he wasnt scoring any goals. He's still the top goal scorer so really theres not much more he can do.
If being the top goal scorer in the league cant get you a starting place, what does?

just cause he's scoring a few goals doesn't mean he's world class, he's far from it actually. Ruud would be scoring as many goals if he was playing, think of how shite Saha was when he wasn't scoring, Ruud's still quite good when he isn't

Well you haven't won the league since he left, all you have to show for the last 3 seasons is 2 cups, 1 being the Mickey Mouse cup.
