Newcastle wanna buy Torres, and me being a Torres fan, think manchester united should buy him, coz he is a quality striker and if Saha/RvN would be sold this summer, Torres would make a perfect replacment

That is exactly what i was thinking when i saw those rumours. Torres would be great signing, too good to miss out on. Imagine Torres and rooney up front, with Riquelme and Diarra supporting in midfield with park and Ronaldo on the wings. Man Utd would be world class again, but that is only dream at the moment.

Goodbye Georgie

from manutd.com

United fans from far and wide joined George Best's family, friends and former colleagues at a special event to commemorate his life at Manchester Cathedral this morning.

Sir Alex Ferguson talked about Best's legacy at Old Trafford, while former manager Wilf McGuinness brought a touch of humour to the proceedings as tales of George's genius and sense of fun were told.

Canon Paul Denby welcomed the congregation and made this opening eulogy:

"Genius is a word too often used these days and yet one that clearly describes a man whose natural dexterity and raw talent on the field of play made him stand out, simply because he was different, simply because he was George Best.

"In 1963, my brother and I were at Old Trafford when George made his debut. The man standing next to us exclaimed, "Who the heck is that?" They rest as they say is history.

"What George brought to thousands and thousands who stood on the terraces at Old Trafford and around the country and indeed around the world is simply immeasurable.

"And so, thanks be to God for the life of your servant George Best, for his gift of football, for his love of sport and his genius on the football pitch, for his joy of entertaining all people and his sheer zest for life.

"Above all we give thanks that he came amongst us, even for such a short time and changed the world of football and the lives of so many forever. Amen."

Prayers were led by the Dean of Manchester, the Very Revd Rogers Govender.

"This is Manchester's chance to say goodbye, and to say it with thanks," said the Dean, himself a United fan, before the service.

"George had God's gifts in abundance; the gift to play, to win, to entertain and to bring joy. We are richer for having known him, and he will always belong to us."

The service was attended by United directors, first-team players, backroom staff and former footballers including Old Trafford legends Denis Law, Paddy Crerand and Jack Crompton, ex-Arsenal star Frank McLintock and ex-Leeds stalwart Eddie Gray.

Former Scotland international Gray was another who addressed the congregation. He joked that he'd never forgiven George for missing a charity match between Leeds and an England XI at Elland Road "because I had to fill in and wear the white shirt of England."

One of the most poignant moments in the service came as the Chamber Choir from the Chetham's School of Music sang How Deep The Father's Love.

Academy players Craig Cathcart, 17, and Jonny Evans, 19, made their way through the cathedral and placed United and Northern Ireland shirts on the altar. Both players, like George, were born in Belfast.

TBH that's sick as fuck, and not funny in the slightest.

I actually thought it was quite funny to come up with that. Mind you im pretty sick myself ;)

yeah...that statement...hm....i wouldn't make such a joke anymore...that was over the limit...

newayz...yeah, even though ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, i still doubt that Ruud will leave...this club just has way too much to offer for him to want to leave....

Latest news.Seems like we have made Mahamodou Diarra and Javier Mascherano are top priorities for next summer. They would make our midfield world class again,no doubt.BTW whats all this fuss about having our own people from the backroom and reserve side pay for the tickets for the Carling Cup final?? Smells like tabloid tales to me but then again who knows.

Hey phrase wwhere did you hear of those transers? If we get either of those two players which i fucking hope and pray, our midfield would be fucking sick and i mean SICK!!

Dwight Yorke has always been a favourite of Sir Alex. The Gaffer himself invited Yorkie to train with the first team from now till T&T's World Cup training camp starts.I'm sure its a great gesture that is appreciated by all players. We all know Yorke is quality and is a great lad, maybe he could teach Rooney a thing or two, holding up the ball more or scoring with his head perhaps?

Alucard - That rumour has been on the surface everywhere.I believe its true about Momo Diarra,we are indeed chasing him.I'm not too sure about Javier Mascherano though.

Ive seen Mascherano play a few times and he seems to have that same agressive mentality as Heinze which can only be a good thing. Heres hoping we get him and Diarra!

Mascherano would be an excellent buy for any club....but I think his price will be inflated with Chelsea on the case

Fucking hell chelsea dont need anymore midfielders, cant they just give it a rest.

Shows the quality of the man!

Apparently Scholes was scouting Nolan for the summer to take over the midfield scoring role when he retires.

Quality englishman cant go wrong there.

We need Diarra tho hes gonna be better than Makelele

Saha scores twice. I really dont know what to think about this whole Ruud situation.
