Manchester United Thread

Gotta mention young Rossi, he bagged yet another hatrick last nite, his 3rd or 4th this season, we beat birmingham 4-0, I expect to see alot more of him in the first team next season....

Looks as though us being after Nolan has been leaked, also King is a favourite to join in the summer...

ok...random question, has United ever had a yellow kit?

Red, White, Black and even blue were around. Yellow just seems to be the dominant colour left on your badge (although blue is not on your badge right? - why did they have it?)

yeah it was originally worn when we started out as Newton Heath and turned up again in centinary year.

Not sure where the blue comes from tbh...

I'd love it if we bag those two english players in the summer, that would improve our British core players.Superbly underrated players,Nolan & King would be instant hits in no time.We should do all we can to get these two,no doubt.About them kits,i'd love it if nike remade the green/yellow kit again. The blue kit was there since we beat benfica, the first time we won the euro cup.I'm also not too sure where did it originates from.Red,White,Black,Grey,Blue,Dark Blue,Green/Yellow..thats all we've done before.

Whilst looking at the league table today, I noticed that we've scored as many goals this season as Chelsea have.

Maybe the quality of our team compared to Chelsea's isnt as bad as its made out to be. THe only difference is that we've let in more goals which is natural since we lost Keano and Heinze.

Huh who is this nolan? is it kevin nolan from bolton the guy who plays up front? And king? is this ledley king? if so do we really need king, isnt he a defender for tottenham. Really the defense and attack department doesnt need strengthing.

they have extra quality in the GK and MF dept (but every team in the league has a better MF than us) but they dont have the firepower or flair going forward, I cant believe that for all the money they have spent they only have one and half decent strikers....

sorry mate, yeah its kevin nolan, he's a CMF/AMF, he's been good for a few years but he's really developing into a quality player.

and yes its ledley king....

the MF problem has to get sorted this summer and another quality CB will do no harm, with Silvestre favourite to go in the summer, that would leave Vidic and Rio as the only senior CB cos Brown hasnt played a full season since he got into the first team....

Well silvestre recently stated he turned down chance to join lyon so he can fight for his place here at United. He said playing for united is more important than playing for his country. So i cant see him leaving anytime soon. With this attitude and desire to work hard at united, im glad he is staying. I know he made some poor performances in the past but his form in the last few games has been very good.

The Nolan signing does sound good and realistic, ive been very impressed with him for bolton.

I still cant really think of a midfielder that can be the solution to our problems.

I'd personally like to see Juninho Pernambucano (I cant believe I spelt that correctly off the top of my head) but thats not very likely. But it would be a nice option.

His set pieces are amazing, have you seen the way he hits the ball with his foot? its sick. Yeah he is defintely quality can play just in that hole where scholes play. I think if united identified him as a target, then i couldnt see any reason why he wouldnt want to leave lyon for manchester next season.

Spot on RuneEdge, I couldnt have put it any better myself, We are doing very well in honesty its just that Chelsea could have about 3 different first teams lol!

If we had that capability the gap wouldnt be 12 points like it is more like a few points if your lucky.

theres a few, Obi Mikel, Nolan, theres two playing in france, one for Lyon and the other plays for St Etienne (sp) i'll think of their names..

also Reo-Coker, he's a cracking prospect, maybe we could nick off the hammers as we did with Ince...

but as you can see theres no household names but neither was Keano, we have always bought then developed talent where possible...

Roe coker is another good target we could look at. Captain in midfield at the age of 21 and performing week in week out at the top of his game at west ham. Which shouldnt cost too much since he hasnt been hyped up crazy yet.

Diarra and Zakora ?

I havent seen either of these play, I reckon Nolan would be a great signing though

Well alex ferguson is at the reebok watching bolton take on marseille. We havnt any games coming up against one of these teams anytime soon. So it must mean he is scouting and keen on signing either Nolan,Ribery or resigning Fabian Barthez

You werent serious about Barthez, right?

lol of course, it was just joke. Though i wouldnt mind him back, i miss him. He was great entertainment and not a bad goalkeeper imo. The tricks he use to do while he was in goal, he should of been a striker. I swear didnt Barthez play in midfield or attack in one game for united for a couple of minutes on the pitch?

I think who ever brought up Reo-Coker knows his stuff. Hes fantastic, can see him fill Scholes' position easily, and being so young he could improve a great deal.

As for Juninho Pernambucano, Id be very surprised if Man Utd went for him. I mean hes a bit old isnt he? If he came it would be a short term fix.

Let go British in the summer!!! Of all the players mentioned in this page,Franck Ribery has the least chance of joining us cos I heard he signed a new contract with Marseille.Juninho Pernambucano isnt exactly young but he's at his prime, kinda like Ballack, but between these two I'd prefer the German captain. On the other hand,if we get the brasilian,we would get more goals from setpieces. The other possible targets would be Mahamodou Diarra and Didier Zokora.Between these two,Diarra is my preference.Hard as nails, holds the midfield well and can supply the occasional killer delivery.Zokora is just another hardworking, breaking up play midfielder, seen him play for Ivory Coast a couple of times, was up staged by Yaya Toure on both occasions.Which brings to mind,Yaya Toure,he should be monitored, one of the stars of the ACN 06.Aside from those foreign stars,Kevin Nolan,Ledly King and Nigel Reo-Coker would be excellent signings to replace our ageing british core players. On a side note,I bet Rio will be feeling a bit sour after reports claiming that Barca wants to sign his brother Anton! A month of good preformance,a fluke volley goal,no England caps and Barca are raving about him?? Hmmmmm....

Yes short term but he'll guarantee you goals that someone like Ballack cant. Ballack might never adjust. Juninho on the other hand, you just let him take your set pieces and he'll get you a few goals from there alone.

Its true what you say Rune about the guaranteed goals we would get if Juninho joins.Maybe its just me,I prefer combative & driven midfielders just like Ballack.Juninho, aside from his setpieces speciality,he's a bit sissy in my book.

Is there no speculation of linking up the Ferdinands? I guess maybe they don't want to paly together, or else I'm sure that would have been mentioned. And they are quite similar, so maybe you need a different option as the other CB. Still, not a bad option I wouldn't have thought.

I still have this naive hope that Ballack is coming, maybe the possibilty of playing with Ruud and Rooney would allure him, I would have thought at least as much as the options at Real, and I still don't think he's needed at Barca.

a few years back, when he left leverkusen I would have had Ballack in my team no probs, but we need the keep the age limit of the squad down and without sounding xenophobic, get some more english lads on board...

ideally i'd have reo coker, nolan and one of either of the french players mentioned (pref the lad from Lyon, Diarra I think), sorting out the MF would free up smith to get back to what we bought him for...

in defense I wouldnt have Anton, its bad enough with Rio, i'd have King...

Juninho is one of the best passers in the world, arguably THE best. To be honest, if I can have ANY player in the world, I'd only place about 3-5 guys above Juninho and those guys would players like Ronaldinho.

he's good from dead ball situations aswell, but he's too old for us IMO

But if you had a choice between him and Ballack, age is no longer the issue.
We were actually linked with him before the start of the season but that obviously didnt get anywhere.
