Dont bout you's lot but no matter how many cup finals, or big european games or derbies ive been to in my life, I'm still as excited about tomorrow as I was when I was a wee nipper.....

Fergie on tomorrow..

"I know Anfield is quite an emotional place but it would never compare with a Rangers v Celtic game. The atmosphere is not a problem for me and it is not a problem for my players In fairness, over the years, we have coped with it quite well. You enjoy the atmosphere, you enjoy the competitive nature of both fans as long as it doesn't get out of hand. It is also an amazing feature that the games rarely boil over to an extent where they get out of hand. Every time I have played in any game, it is gone after an hour. It fades very quickly. The excitement of the game is in the last minute. If you are winning, you are looking at the referee, hoping he is going to blow that whistle. There is a build-up of adrenalin and tension in the final moment because you know your job has been completed. But after that, even in cup finals I have experienced, after about an hour it has evaporated very quickly."

“I think Liverpool v Manchester United compares to Real Madrid v Barcelona. It is that passionate. They are two huge games that have a great atmosphere. With both fixtures, you can smell the atmosphere building days before the match itself. The rivalry and the history of this game is as big. When Rio Ferdinand scored in the last minute at Old Trafford, we felt incredibly frustrated. We had worked very well all game, so to lose in the last minute was very hard to take. But that’s football and at least we will have the chance to gain revenge in the FA Cup We want to try and avenge that Premiership defeat this weekend. For us the FA Cup is a very important competition and we’ll try to win it for our supporters. We’re going to fight until the end until we do it.”

'Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez must decide whether to recall keeper Jose Reina or keep faith with Jerzy Dudek.

Peter Crouch (heel) is a doubt, Robbie Fowler is Cup-tied and Stephen Warnock (groin), Daniel Agger and Jan Kromkamp (ankle) are all fitness concerns.'

Please play Dudek Rafa!!!!!

"If I score on Saturday, or any of the other Liverpool players score, we won't run to the United fans. For certain we will celebrate with our own supporters. Every player should have the freedom of right to celebrate how they choose, but Neville's goal celebration caused a lot of controversy last time. But the match was very tense and there was a great deal of nerves at that moment."

I notice no one has made a big deal about Bellamy celebrating his goal infront of the sunderland fans the other night....

not sure how good he is. let's see if he plays in the world cup. If he's as good as Heinze, he'll be welcome.

I dont think he has a chance of making it to the world cup team.Lots of other quality players available playing the same position as he is.I am sure he isnt half as good as our Gaby Heinze. To be honest I dont know why we are after him,I mean,he hasnt make waves in the La Liga or anything. We visit Anfield in a few minutes time,I'm am pretty confident we will win this tie, them mickeys hasnt been able to beat us in an FA cup tie for the last 85 years.C'Mon UNITED!!!

it would be nice to see Park and Smith together for their energy. we should try and run them ragged as they have a fixture pile up. If we lose today, we still need 2nd place in the premiership. lets make it hard for them.

I think its because Sir Alex are trying to accomodate Giggs into the formation, whom I think are not pulling the strings in midfield.Put him back to the left,Ronnie on the right and replace Richardson with Smith to partner Fletcher in the middle, that should do it.

This was exactly the reason some midfielders should have been brought in the transfer window. No-one nicking the ball and no-one distributing it to the attck.

too bad... liverpool slowed the pace of the game tremendously and blocked out rooney... bad game IMO and sad bout smith
i tink he could be out for 6 months at least
he dislocated his ankle

And now Smith is out, for what looks like, the rest of the season.

Next game, our midfield will be Giggs, Ronaldo, Richardson, Park. (Spot the central midfielder)

Think Fletcher will play instead of Richardson who is a crap central midfielder

poor team selection caused united this game!

speedy recovery for al the smudger smith! that looked really bad the full blast of riise's left peg!

We didnt need a spectacular midfielder. Just someone who would do the dirty work for us as Sissoko did for 'pool.

from a neutrals point I thought the game wasnt great. It was greatly contested but I enjoyed the match at Old Trafford more.

I reckon the midfield was the main problem. Fletcher probably was the only recognised centre mid and he was awful. Vidic wasnt that bad, I thought he handled himself quite well, even if it was his fault for letting Crouch get a free header.

But United man of the match had to be Wes Brown. Super solid.

Reckon Rio wouldve made a big difference though. Some of the passing out from defense was terrible.

So what's this bollocks about playing Chelsea in the final? Like I said your midfield IS a piss-take...

Fletcher, joke
O'shea, more of a joke
Giggs, past it
Richardson, shit
Smith, not a midfielder

I think you need more than just one decent midfielder

...On a serious note I hope Smith gets well

Ankle dislocation and broken leg. Apparently the worst injury Fergie has seen in his whole managerial career....including that 3 way tackle by Man U players on that Coventry player? (I think his name was Booste or sumthin).

It must be bad...get well soon Smith

EDIT: btw, if any of you are intending to post a pic of either horrific injury, please do so with a Spoiler tag!

hmm...well you do still have the league cup. just out of curiosity, would you swap ypur position for ours now? i'm not taking the piss i'm just wondering, of course your natural reaction would be to say no but a couple of games against madrid would be quite hard to turn down.

and also why do you call your smith 'smudger'? the 'real' alan smith was called smudger so i'm just curious to whether or not you just copied us or if all alan smith's are called this.
