Manchester United Thread

Finally saw highlights, what the hell was wrong with Rio's challenge for the second yellow? He was going up against peterson, and savage came in from the blindside, foot actaully above ferdinands. F*(&ing hell! That coupled with the mis hit cross that hit browns trailing arm...not so sure about the refereeing.

What's particularly amusing is that I bet the latest spew of hand balls = penalty calls are in response to John Terry getting away with a full blocked shot against fulham.

Robbie savage really is a pansy, I've lost all respect for him this season. I'm not sure when he had the old snip in the off season, but man he sure is missing some cajones...

Nope giggsy is still injured im afraid. I just hope park and ronaldo start on the wing and if anything have richardson play central alongside fletcher or someone.

Yep, to be honest im quite optimistic we'll get him. After remembering the smile on his face when he had the united shirt on, its defintly a case of chelsea snatching him away and offering him more money. But if SAF can sit him down and come to a compromise im sure he will have a change of heart.

Evra is too short to play in the prem. That or he needs to learn to defend, that second fulham goal was APALLING. Teams realise they can just play high balls towards him and hes useless...so poor

What happened to our defence?!!!

i tink man utd should forget bout mikel, since he doesnt wanna play for man utd but he is legally under man utd, why not offer a price for chelsea for let say, 20 million?

You're talking as if you just came up with that idea.

Well that was good match, entertainment wise. I agree evra is becoming a liability in defense. He makes rash challanges and isnt good in the air. Smith reiterated to me that he is useless in midfield. I wish SAF would end the misery of watching him in midfield and put him back into attack.

The positives is that ronaldo is returning to form and isnt overdoing the tricks. Park again showed why he should start imo. Both players on the flanks look very dangerous.
When Bardsley came on he showed a few senior players how to do a job in defense and thats keeping things simple. I rate bardsley alot, he seems to have cool head on his shoulders and is strong when defending. I think its about time he gets a run in the first team.

I think Bardsley should slowly be phased into the team, not rushed. I see him as a future replacement for Gary and he kinda has a captains look about him. Not sure why but I can easily picture him being our captain for some reason.

The guy is 20 not 16, he can handle the games. The only thing i can see stopping him starting is g.neville. But tonight proved he is worth a try at left back, until evra grows a couple of inches taller!

I never said he was too young for the role.
He doesnt have the experience and the influence on the team like Gary does.

How strange cos I too have a feeling that Phil Bardsley will become an integral member of United in the near future.I'm sure we all remember his solid run in the team when Gaz was out.Future captain for United is too much of a task for him,but let things run its course and we'll see.Topsy turvy performance from us yesterday.Wasnt stable in defence but looked dangerous in attack.MOM performance from Ronaldo, too bad he cant produce that kind of performance for us yet, week in week out.Lets hope he'll find his consistency. After Ronnie skied his first freekick,I thought to myself, funny how this kid hasnt got a proper freekick technique yet.The second freekick just proves that theory. If you guys dont know what I mean, look up Beckham's and Ronaldinho's stance.Anyways,I hate to say it,but it seems like we are getting the Real Madrid syndrome. You score 3,we'll score 4!

yeah i agree bardsley is quality. Where was fletcher? Suspended? He's so much better in midfield than smith. If you watch when Smith's off the ball he just kind of walks around having no idea where to stand or how to make himself available. Nor can he play long balls at all.

Felt bad for Ruud, he was clearly trying so hard to score, just didn't come off for him. However, he was still a joy to watch, his touch and vision (pass to saha with outside of the foot from centre circle was gorgeous) are top notch. I recall not so long ago people were writing him off on this board...
;)

We may not win much this season, but I'm still pretty psyched about the team,a nd at least we're not boring to watch!

I think Smith is a lot better than Fletcher in the middle of the park. The only reason why he just walks around without making himself available is because he's only there to break an attack which is why he just sits back and waits to make a move. Which is basically what Keane did.

I have to admit, I was one of those who thought Ruud would never be as good as he used to be. IMO, he better now than he ever was cuz he's scoring goals without the assists from Scholes and Giggs and Beckham. So he's having to work a lot more.

The last few years that's what Keane's been doing, yes. At Smith's age, he was a midfield monster who could do everything though. Smith just simply isn't good enough. Fletcher's still young so it's hard to tell how he'll turn out, definetly technically talented though.

Brown was poor against Fulham.Had an off day perhaps.I'd like to see Rio partnering Vidic in the heart of defence. Then again,i prefer Rio and Heinze.Evra is settling in nicely on the leftback slot. The reason to why our defence is terrible for the last few games is because of the new comers, they are disrupting flow, but its all for the good.Lets all hope they all find their rhythm back.

i just saw tat ronaldo free kick, at first it looked normal, untill it showed it at another angle... the ball actually curled right den left, like a zig zag fashion! OMG

But the only reason why Keano was allowed to be that monster was because we had other players at that time doing the sort of thing that Keane started to do once he got older.
Smith is being told to do the job of an experienced player (I'm talking in his late 20s/early 30s) which is why he clearly fails to do it at times. He's doing the right thing but he's just not doing it to the standard thats set by this club.

Juninho style. ;)

So Liverpool lost meaning if they win their games in hand, they would only be level with us on points.
Since we've played them twice, its now just a battle to see who is more consistant.
