Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

This shit with Mikel is doing my nut in, why is it everything involving the chelski rent boys gets dragged out for weeks and months, tapping up sven, signing essien, tapping up ca$hley cole and now this with Mikel..

Fergie on Mikel saga
Monday, October 3, 2005

"He (Mikel) has an agent who apparently work for Chelsea. Actually, I don't believe it is true that Mikel does not want to join United. I believe the lad has been forced to say it. His family is put under heavy pressure and the circumstances are very sad. The manner I believe in which he and his family have been treated and pressured is, honestly, purely disgusting."

Not sure if you's know but the agent in question has been arrested in Norway on smuggling charges so its obvious he's a dodgy fecker, quicker it gets sorted the better for everyone...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Is that the same guy that was carrying a load of cash with him and when he got arrested, he said its for footballing reasons but had to pay the fine anyway?

well out of the three only gerrard is any good at tackling so smith has that in his favour, but thats about it IMO.

Scholsey retired because he was tired of being played out of position and then being slated in the media because he wasnt playing to his usual standard....
whoa vann, what games have you been watching, smith is a HORRIBLE tackler, he is late on pretty much every challenge i have seen this year, when he plays upfront, he is a good tackler, but when he plays against quick midfielders and forwards, he hasnt looked so good

I phrased it wrong mate, I meant that he was more up for that side of midfield play than lampard and beckham....

but imo he shouldnt be in MF anyway....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I think he's doing a decent job short term for us while Keano's out and until we hopefully buy someone. I'd rather see him in there than someone like Liam Miller to be honest.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Is it just me or did the wrong man get praised on MOTD on Saturday night? Mr Rooney was highlighted but surely your best player on Saturday was Mr Park.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Well i think both deserved the praise but not many people really said much about park, which is a shame, he definately deserved some credit too.

lol yeah i'd rather see him than miller who has been shite, even in training!!!

crayon dude, Rooney was outstanding on Saturday, yeah Park was great with a hat-trick of assists but one was a dodgy pen and the other was blatantly offside...

Rooney was the man for us on that pitch he must be a nightmare to play against....

blatantly offside? huh? I didnt think so... rooney had that sweet pass to park on that play.... but i would agree with crayon, park played his best game yet.... does anyone else think that putting richardson at left back has been a good thing? If he can learn the position, he could become similar to ashley cole....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I'd take Heinze over him any day.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while, but I need advice: Me and my girlfriend are going to Portugal to stay in her bro's villa around the Benfica V United date - where is the best website/ticketline to order AWAY tickets for this match from? Thanks in advance.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I think Richardson would benefit more with Ryan Giggs playing infront of him. Both of them down the left flank are a menace to any team.Giggs who is notoriously known for his covering his fullback can teach Richy a thing or two about defending and attacking at the same time.I dont care what MOTD said or any other media people highlighting about other players concerning the match against Fulham, the important thing is Sir Alex did first praised Park after the game and he was his man of the match.3 assists in your first 90 minutes is a feat nonetheless.I believe Alan Smith can do the job in DMF for England as he DOSENT want to attack,he just sits there and broke up play, where as Becks,Lamps and Gerrard are all attacking players, nobody wants to do the dirty job anymore.Unless they bring back our very own Nicky Butt!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Park's play was very praised here in Spain the other day: TV shows highlighted him as the best player for United this weekend, though Ruud is back and Wayne did well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

ALL media press in england will obviously jump on the bandwagon and praise rooney because he is high profile player and people want to hear stories about him. I couldnt believe when i picked up 'the mirror' yesterday morning and saw rooney get rating 9 while park only got an 8 rating!

I think richardson can do a good job on the left midfield but he sure aint sulking having to play left back which is good. He reminds me of ashley cole as ashley cole use to play in midfield or i think it was forward then got converted into left back by wenger and look at him now. I know ashley cole defending isnt great all time but he does vvery good job and could fit into any team in world.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Yeah, you're right. Ashley Cole used to be a forward.

Ruuds second goal was blatantly offside mate what was you watching!!

dont rate richardson at LB but with heinze being the best lb in the country last year its a big gap to fill plus its not his natural postiton so we have to give him a squeeze....

Lyn on Mikel
Tuesday, October 4, 2005

Lyn managing director Morgan Andersen

"If Chelsea had respected us, things might have been different. They overlooked us until the last few weeks and then what they offered was not good enough. " don't say Chelsea can't be angry about it, but the transfer is in order and if they claim to have rights to Mikel, they have done something illegal and I expect Fifa to take that very seriously."

Hhhhm yet another person questioning chelseas attitude towards the rest of the footballing world now they've got all this money...

Times on Mikel saga
Tuesday, October 4, 2005

'IN THE words of José Mourinho, Chelsea might “deserve some respect” for their achievements on the pitch, but off it they continue to attract hostility from their fiercest rivals, with Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday voicing his anger over the “disgusting” tactics he feels are being used to steer one of world football’s most exciting prospects away from Manchester United and towards Stamford Bridge.
The bitter fight to sign John Obi Mikel, the outstanding Nigerian teenager, has brought relations between the clubs to a nadir. Ferguson announced the signing of the 19-year-old from Lyn Oslo in April, only for the player to claim days later that he had been “bullied” into the deal and wanted to sign for Chelsea.

Fifa, world football’s governing body, has been asked to intervene and was last week sent a submission by United, outlining “concerns regarding the possible involvement of Chelsea”, alleging that the club were in breach of Chapter V, Article 13 of Fifa regulations governing the transfer of players and that Mikel “has been placed under tremendous pressure by certain agents, who purport to represent Chelsea, to act in breach of his contracts with Lyn and Manchester United”.

In an interview with a Norwegian newspaper, Ferguson went farther by claiming that Mikel “has an agent who apparently works for Chelsea”.

This claim is understood to be based on a conversation between David Gill, the United chief executive, and another agent involved in the transfer. John Shittu, the player’s foremost agent, has repeatedly denied having any involvement with Chelsea, saying that his only loyalty is to Mikel.

Although some at Old Trafford are resigned to losing Mikel to Chelsea, Ferguson maintains that it is outside forces that are trying to dissuade the youngster from moving to Manchester. “I don’t believe it’s true that Mikel doesn’t want to join United,” Ferguson told Dagbladet. “I believe the lad has been forced to say it. His family is put under pressure and the circumstances are very sad. The manner I believe he and his family have been treated and pressured is disgusting.”

Chelsea have yet to comment publicly on the matter, but they, too, are understood to have submitted evidence to Fifa’s player status committee denying any wrongdoing and raising questions about the legitimacy of United’s agreement with the player. Fifa officials hope to offer their judgment “sooner or later”, but neither club is likely to accept an unfavourable verdict without pursuing an appeal.'

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I dont see how they can question the legitimacy of United’s agreement. We made a deal under FIFA's rules and conditions meaning nothing was wrong with it.
I'd be pretty pissed off with FIFA if Chelsea get this player. Not because I want him at United but because it would show that not even FIFA can put their foot down and stop Chelsea from doing the things that people are hating them for.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

ye I have heard who it is although Im a bit sceptical about it but it will be in the papers tomorrow so you can all wait till then

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Yup i've heard it's a certain crowd pleaser ... will wait to see what happens with this as there are a lot of gold digging ho's in London! :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Another rape story? This time involving a United player huh? The Premiership star? A young international? COULD IT BE ROONEY??? Hahahaha...I honestly think we dont need Ivan Helguera, hes just possibly mediocre at the top of his game and I dont know why Queiroz is so interested in him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

He used to be a defensive midfielder and a good one of that but due to lack of defenders at madrid he was forced to play as a defender.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

A small story in the mirror today also, saying fergie will move for ballack in the jan transfer window.

Make of that what you will.
