He should, really been a class above this year. Think he would have played yesterday if not for the implosion by our defence. Might have been a blessing as he bossed it a bit tonight.

Fear he might be loaned out though, Petrucci style.
 
For Rooney's sake I hope he stays in United or at least England. I can't see him being the same player or having success abroad to be honest.

Can't see him 'adapting' to new culture, league or language either. I'm willing to bet he'll be a flop at PSG in France or in Italy, Spain or Germany. This is a hugely talented and wonderful player who was MADE for England and very much that. And unlike David Beckham he doesn't have the sophistication, social skills or the professionalism to succeed in other countries.

I think he's making a huge mistake if he leaves Man Utd and if I were him I'd stay just where I am and become a club legend.
 
I don't think he has his eyes set abroad though Sina, I think there's a decent chance he's looking to go Chelsea. I think he'd do well there but I wouldn't want us to sell him domestically.

I said this a while ago, I wouldn't be shocked if he stays though, I think ultimately it could just be him having a hissy fit and once reassured by Moyes he'll come round.
 
I think if he had decided to move in 2010 or prior he would have succeeded anywhere, I genuinely don't think he could take it up a gear now if he went abroad with all the added extra stuff and being settled with his family.
 
There was always a thing about him not moving away from England because of his wife's sister. Not sure what the deal was, but maybe she needs care of some sort? Could all be paper talk.

I just don't get Rooney. United fans around the land worshipped him til he did his contract kerfuffle. Then they forgave him because: a. a lot of us were thinking it re: the Glazers and b. he was world class for 2 years.

Then he has one season where he's not great and he thinks he can just kick up another fuss? What is wrong with him? Be professional ffs. He wasn't exactly lighting it up with his performances, so of course he's going to be at risk of being dropped.

That said, I think the majority of United fans heavily questioned Fergie when he left him out of the Real match, seemed more like vindictive Fergie than sensible Fergie.

If Wayne had kept his gob shut, spend the summer trying out that 'running' thing all the kids are doing and come back to a strong pre-season, then we'd have no worries. And if he's still feeling like leaving come Christmas, great, he's at a point in his contract when it makes sense for everoyne to depart.

But trying this after a relatively poor season when his weight and touch seem to be getting out of hand, when we STILL won the league despite his smaller role just seems idiotic.

Personally I think Paul Stretford has met with Gourlay or whoever at Chelsea, and has been told there's a massive pay day for Stretford, sorry, Rooney, if he does one last move. And it would just involve moving down to London.

Rooney has two of the rarest gifts in football: vision and instinct. Things that cannot be taught, and if he'd just man up and be professional, he could still have a good 5 years at the top level. But I fear he's going to do a big money move to Chelsea, where he'll be genuinely excellent for 1 year, then drop off the face of the Earth when Roman buys a new toy and he loses even more of his fitness.
 
Got this idea by reading the "greatest player ever"-thread.
Among the alltime greats there wasn't a single United player.
Man Utd under Ferguson surely must be the best ever club team in football history (yes, i'm writing this).
I wonder who is for the United fans the best player under Ferguson.

I don't know for sure: i would go for any of these players: Cantona, Schemeichel, Giggs, Scholes or Ronaldo.

The one i like most is Giggs, but i would not take him...my choice would be between Schmeichel and Cantona.

What do the United fans think (of course you can propose other players, i did not mention Roy Keane because i never liked him, but he was also a very important player).

That would be Rosie. She was disabled, but passed at the beginning of the year (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-20921907).
Now that he's just had another baby (well, not literally!) he might not want to move anywhere at the moment, so think it'll come down to how him & Moyes get on in pre-season...

Ronaldo was the most talented and complete player under Ferguson, he has it all and is a consummate professional to boot.

But Cantona was the real inspiration of the team, and despite not having as impressive stats or as long a career with us, I'd say he's probably the player that had the biggest impact while he was playing.

It'd be between those two for me, with a special mention to Rio Ferdinand who I feel like gets ignored a lot in 'best of discussions' but has been one of the best defenders in the world for almost 10 seasons, including going to 3 champions league finals and winning more than half of the league campaigns he's started for United.
 
I'd agree with CR and Cantona, along with Scholes.

I've always thought Stam was the best CB Utd have had in my lifetime.

Don't know if I'd necessarily rate him higher from a Utd perspective BC he hadn't been around as long as he could have. But overall Stam should def have a place among the all time great defenders.The guy had no fear for anybody on the pitch.

As far as who to pick as best utd players ever..I'll need to get back with you on that .
 
Think Paul Scholes should be up there as well. For me, he was often the silent but deadly focal point of England and Manchester United`s attack. Truly a unique player IMHO and among the best mid fielders in football history. In a way its sad he decided to retired for good along with SAF, but at the same time i tend to think he was happy to not be the focal point of the madness this past week or so. Always was funny to see how reserved of a person he is/was..only to see him flying in with some mad tackle during a game.
 
Problem with signing any young player from Barca these days is that they seem to insist on having a super-cheap buy-back clause in the contract. It's like a loan deal, but you pay a signing fee and the whole salary.

Then three years down the line the player realises his 'dream' to play for his 'home' and he buggers off.

Not worth it for me.
 
Pretty negative spin on it :P I'd like to think Manchester United is still a big draw, remember Pique only left because he wasn't getting games here, I wouldn't say no to having him for 4-6 years either and making a 20M+ profit either as It would mean he's been a success.

We wouldn't entertain a buy back clause.
 
A new manager (certainly after the previous one was there as long as Ferguson) should change things...i understand Moyes.

On the other hand if he does not well from the beginning this might be another reason why fans start don't liking him. I Always rated Moyes high, but he will have an extremely difficult start. Hope he gets a couple of seasons time (Ferguson wasn't exactly a success himself when he started, but how many fans remember that ???).

Succeding Ferguson is a mission impossible for every manager...

Oh god, I hope not.. that would make negotiations for Fabregas or Thiago almost impossible, as they'll probably ask for some kind of trade.
 
Have to say after watching the Play off final, I have some doubts on Zaha.. does the kid even know how to pass?

Williams on the other hand was like a spin-off of Iniesta, really liked his tidy dribbling and best passing!
 
to be honest if I was him I wouldn't pass to those team-mates either, saying that he does have some decent passing.

He won't have that problem at United though, playing with players just as capable as he is he'll love the idea of being able to trust others with the ball instead of trying it all himself.
 
The good was that he showed skill, technique and bravery in taking his man on every time. The bad is that the end result was consistently poor.

Still, he showed me more upper body strength than I'd been expecting - his hold up play was excellent. Will just have to try and teach him how and when to cross!

Exactly my thoughts, although I reckon a year in the prem with Palace will do him some good before he comes to United for good
 
The state of our wingers currently, unless we were to sign someone we need him now, even with that poor end product he did win the semi final and final down to his end product.
