Manchester United Thread

It's all paper crap - when was the last time a player swap happened in English football? I can't think of United ever doing one (other than loan of young players).

I love Anderson on his day. As few and far as they are between, he can absolutely run a midfield if he's up for it.

I love Anderson...still feel that we sort of ruined him, but he's still young..maybe he'll mature and be a better player...

Hey, with Van Persie stating he wanting to leave, and not for money...why aren't there any speculation of him coming to us rather than city?? i thought he wanted to win titles...(think about it, however impossible) he'd pair up nicely with Rooney up front...

So, looks like Zeki Fryers is off and getting paid £20k a week at Tottenham. Really impressive bit of business from his agent that! United certainly don't pay that much for a player with <5 first team appearances.

Also a fair amount of chat that QPR have put in a decent bid for Ji Sung Park. Seems like a good deal all around to me, I'd be happy with it. Will give our real/other wide players the time on the pitch they deserve (Young/Nani/Valencia/Kagawa/Welbz)

Because it's bloody obvious it's for the money and bloody obvious he's going to City?

Also we wouldn't pay much for a 29 year old nearing the end of his contract.

Anyways, I'd bite QPR's hand off if they paid £5m for Park. I love the guy and think he's been immeasurably valuable in his time here but last year he showed signs that his main asset, his energy and ability to get round the pitch, was on the wain and without that he isn't really much of a player.

Hopefully if he does go then we give him a good send off because he's definitely deserved it for years of peerless service to the club.

Fryers gone as well?! What happened to a love of football and wanting to achieve as much as you can at the highest level!
Hopefully the other younguns don't decide money outweighs football, hopefully we will see Larnell Cole and Jesse Lingard emerge next season..

As for Park I'd be sad to see him leave, but he was only ever a player used for his relentless energy, now that's declining a deal anywhere near £5m would be great.

He looked alright when I saw him but admittedly that was only his few first team appearances.

Not really that fussed about him leaving with regards to his ability but given he was a local lad and a United fan I just find it ridiculous that he'd leave for money.

Sad.

Interesting, some nice little numbers adding up:
Park: £5m
Gibson: £4m
Pogba: £1-2m
Fryers: £1-2m

It's not a ton of money, but £10m or so sitting around (presumably). If we can get another £10m or so for Berbatov (sobs), that'd be a good offer for an actual midfield player.

If Fergie remembers what those are.

No chance we're gonna sign a midfielder.

Ando and Cleverley are the future! Until they get injured a few games in and then we get battered by City again.

At least we're guaranteed not to play Park and Fabio in the middle anymore ;)

Then again, won't be giving Pogba a chance either. New Reserve love-in for....Davide Petrucci! The next Pogba!

Copper Jar!

As a Park fan...I really have to say that I'd be happy to take 5M for him to leave...he is starting to decline and as you guys said, without his energy, there are many games that he's just there running around and doing nothing.

As happy as I am for the Moutinho deal, i really doubt it'd happen...so rarely does something so good happen for us...

On other news, Tottenham has said that they're willing to sell Modric for a "fair price" (read as 40M)...you think we'd try again?

I'd obviously prefer Modric as he's proven, but I can't see us paying more than £20m for any player. And given Luka clearly wants to leave and Spurs have managed to get Sigurdsson and bid on Oscar, makes me think they're banking on some money so are going to sell.

Worth remembering Spurs also desperately need a striker if City won't kindly give them Adebayor.

allegedly (which is probably BS) we have bidded 20M for Moutinho, yes please and get it done :))

Has to be BS, given that his release clause was £30-35million prior to euros, and after a strong tournament the tournament syndrome kicks in I really can't see him moving for less than that.

Also, Modric may be proven but IMO he seems to be declining already, he has had his peak season, and I reckon it is all downhill now.

Good luck to Ji if he does indeed move on, he's been nothing but a model professional for the club and has put in some big performances for us down the years.

He absolutely deserves a run in a team, can't of been easy coming into our side as when he was needed and then being expected to perform at his peak.

I'd be surprised if we went for Moutinho too, I get the feeling we're shopping around for a good deal, until we're priced out of any potential move (as with Modric seemingly). Just hope we don't leave it too late in finding someone.

Out with Park...In with Joao Moutinho?

Nani is also on the brink of signing a new deal with us.

Happy days ahead.

How's the Nani deal going? Last I heard was he asked for a £50k pay-rise and united pulled the plug on negotiations cause they didn't want to pay so much..

And Moutinho deal would be good.

The park deal is only worth £2m now according to Sky.. Too little IMO.

We need Baines now, given that we only have 1 left back now.
Left back, and a midfielder who doesn't need a nappy clause in his contract and we are sorted for now, I'd like to see a new striker as well, but that's not priority

So true, Some brighter news is Modric is apparently becoming impatient at Madrids failure to come up with a substantial offer for him and may pull out of any potential deal..

Also am I the only one who wouldn't want can Persie at United? Seems a bit sudden that people have forgotten prior to the last two seasons the guy had only averaged 8 goals a season in the league for Arsenal.. And with the last two has averaged 12.. I know injuries have hindered him, but given the injury prone state and poor consistency for goals, I would not pay £25m for him and would be tentative to pay his wages in a free deal..
