Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

There was probably a rush of adrenaline before the actual pain set in and he might have injured himself further hobbling around like an idiot.

Thankfully it looks like Kanchelencia's very close to a first team return. He's been a big miss this season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You are without doubt the most bitter fan in here. No matter what happens, you always turn your post into a sarcastic attack on Liverpool. Lighten up a bit eh?

Anyway, I said something similar a while back but when is Hernandez going to start every game? The player is just class really and always looks like he's a threat and going to score. Rooney, whatever, not considered to be a threat too much. But Hernandez? As soon as he come on, I expected him to do something.

A cracking buy, could turn out to be one of your best signings in years if he keeps improving.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Problem with Chicarito is that the rest of his game is poor at the moment. So he offers nothing when he's not in the box. And with out midfield so lacking of talent and creativity, we need strikers that can sort their own supply out - hence Rooney (in theory) and Berbatov.

I'm beginning to think the wheels have come off for the season. In our defence, on another day we'd like of started against Liverpool with up to 6 different players (Rio, Vida, Anderson, Valencia, Park, Fletcher) so was never expecting a win. Lots of comments about how weak our midfield is but worth noting that 3 potential first teamers were injured (and Hargreaves...who?). Our injuries have largely gone unnoticed this year, but losing Valencia and Park is the only reason we've had to play Obertan (and Giggs to be fair), plus the less said about our world class holding midfield the better.

Investment is needed, but I'm not sure where we'll get it from. Just saddens me how much hope fans have to put in such mediocre players like Obetan, Bebe, Gibson etc because some ugly red head mall-owning leprechauns saw the chance to make a buck. Alternatively, that no team can compete anymore with splashing > £50m a season on transfers (we're now almost at the bottom of the net transfer spend table for the last 5 seasons).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Seems United are really having to pay the price of the Rooney elbow. 1st Luiz and now Carragher, surely thats even now!

Take it on the chin and move along eh!

No doubt. Although I doubt either incidents will be mentioned and replayed endlessly in the media as often as Rooney's idiocy was.

With the pre-planned media blackout in mind, it's safe to say it's siege mentality time at Old Trafford.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Surprising that they decided to even ignore MUTV, not sure what the point of that is.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's better to wait for the storm to blow over than say something silly in the heat of the moment and risk another avoidable fine/ban.

I don't blame him after that silly story The S*n printed about Smalling, as well as the other misrepresentated quotes they've bandied about, "Fergie going against the club's legal advice" and all that bollocks.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Whatever, we all know the world would be a better place if someone rounded up every redtop journalist and sent them on an EXCLUSIVE trip to the bottom of the ocean, but what can you do. It's the world he operates in. He should embrace it and start using them to his advantage.

The thing with those types of journalists is that for them to have chosen to do such a morally corrupt, parasitic job they must be lacking some fundamental part of humanity to start with - they're always going to be little, snivelling pisspots with a point to prove. So of course in their sorry little minds Fergie slighting them makes it justifiable to make up negative stories to hurt him. The only thing they have going for them is the strength of the finger nails they use to cling desperately to the coat tails of truly talented individuals.

Phew, i feel better :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

:CALM:

Fair point though, nobody seems to like journalists apart from themselves. Yet people still buy the shite newspapers anyway so the shite journalism is always going to be around. Like you say, might as well make use of it if you can. Fergie already has a reputation for that, when it's suggested that he puts pressure on refs before a game with the intention of swaying any possible decisions. Whether you believe that's true or not, it's something that has been picked up on by the media (newspapers and TV).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Shockingly challenge, clearly meant to make a point, if he was off with both it would have been a red for sure, just thuggery.
Sprinting over to show it to the ref then collapsing and acting like your suddenly paralysed did not help Nani. There is so much play acting by players it's hard for any official to read...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It was a challenge designed to hurt Nani and stop him running at Carragher, who doesn't have the pace to be a RB. In that sense, it couldn't have been more successful.

It's cowardly of Carragher, but it's not his fault the ref doesn't have the balls. Keep in mind this a referee that sent Wayne Rooney off (and delighted in doing so) for throwing a ball too forcefully back to where a free kick had been (incorrectly) given.

I know it'll reek of paranoia, but I honestly believe that it's seeped into ref's heads now that if they do something wrong against United, the press and 90% of the country will turn a blind eye, but if they do something favouring United, they'll be back page news for a week. The ABU press agenda is finally working.

Imagine if Rooney had done that tackle on Suarez. World. Would. Have. Ended.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Watched the replay again this morning with a cooler head. In real time, everyones reaction is "Red card". Without a shadow of a doubt. How in the world can the ref even hesitate?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Wasn`t Phil the ref Fergie said he was out of shape last season?

No, that was Alan Wiley. Who was out of shape, and I'm pretty sure isn't refereeing any more. The press all pointed out that he ran the same distance as players, but its not total distance that matters, it's keeping up with play. And the bottom line is that he was 35 yards from the most important decision of the match.

Anyway, as I said above, I really believe that referee's are subconciously thinking it's better to err on the side of not favouring United.

I still can't believe that wasn't red. Just horrendous.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Was it just me, or did Gerrard appear to say 'Well done' to Carragher as he was walking away from being booked? Can't find a decent video online though... Genuine question, not looking to stir things up.
Thing is, the media seem more interested in the Rafael incident, whilst mentioning fuck all about Maxi Rodriguez studding him about a second before he lunged at Lucas. Not that it excuses it - you'd think he'd learn from Vidic's stupidity against Chelsea.

On a sidenote, full credit to Mereiles. He stayed with Nani until he went off. He also exposed our defence single handedly, so was pleased to see him subbed!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Merieles and Nani both are Portuguese so they know each other.

@beachryan: Refs don't have instant replay so they missed it. If they had, Carra's off for sure. Lucky break for Liv cause if he was shown the Red card I wouldn't know what the end result would be.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anderson and Valencia will be MASSIVE returns, any chance of either being back for Arsenal?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Even if they are back, neither will be at their best.

Valencia must be close, but I don't think Anderson is back in training yet.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

more like your title count stops at 18...

A bit like yours then eh,
and why the fook should i lighten up?, we'd just been roundly beaten by our biggest rival and not turned up for one of our biggest games of the season, what do you want me to do, dance in the streets??
