Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

How class was Carrick last night? Outstanding performance from him. He's been very good since he's come back.

I'd be pissed if he doesn't get recalled for England, especially seeing how poor Barry is.

He won't get recalled, Barry seems to be the first name on the team sheet almost, which is terrible considering just how utterly shite the guy is.

Carrick was fantastic last night, much more like the bloke we signed and lauded for his first two seasons.

Thank fuck Rangers got nothing, horrible team playing horrible football with horrible fans.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Carrick's been in pretty much all the squads and went to the World Cup, he just doesn't seem to start. Strange.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He was in awful form going into the World Cup so he didn't deserve to start, unfortunately for Capello Barry is just rubbish.

28 games unbeaten then, great achievement hopefully we can keep it going with Chelsea and Arsenal coming up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Right, lads. Big game today. We should be fine though since we're unbeaten.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Right on...Blackburn has always been hard to beat plus they are on a good run of games too.

I still believe we can pull off a confidence boosting win.

We've signed Anders Lindegaard too...Edwin can sort out his retirement package now.

Was that good enough? :P
Really happy for Berba. After his recent goal drought and his contract negotiation coming up, what a way to make a statement.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yh give him 160k a wk well deserve by Mutd standards 5 goals is a fine statement.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Hope you didn't fall asleep Gerd whilst watching that ;))

Too be fair we've been poor to watch but I think it was clear to see with the injuries and lack of continuity we had getting results was the important thing, now we've got everyone(mostly) back we'll see what United are all about.

Some of the football today :...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great performance

Cant remember which number goal it was for Berba but the one where it started in the left back area, he flicked it perfectly to Evra, received it back, sprayed beauty of a ball to Nani with outside of foot...etc...etc WHAT A FOOKIN GOAL that was anyway!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nani's goal was nice to see. Reminded me of the confidence that a younger Ronaldo used to show.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We were just wonderful to watch, just like last time we won 7-1 :D

The one touch stuff we played today would've torn anyone apart. Here's hoping we start banging them in for fun from now on, Blackpool next week should be tough though, Bloomfield Road in wintery conditions with their crowd behind them, reminiscent of the Burnley game last season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No, because if they were then you'd be in the changing rooms hiding and waiting for them to come off the pitch to get changed.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 Completely forgot we were playing today and only found out the score now. Sounds quite bad.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The end of the road must be coming for O'Shea and maybe even J.Evans. Consistently poor and real weak links whoever we play.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

John O'Shea's last quality match was when he was 21. How that boy is still a player at a consistently-league winning club is beyond me. Most defences have sorted out that they can just leave him unmarked - it's a surefire way to win the ball back.

While we definitely deserved to lose, the scoreline really came down to individual errors combined with West Ham showing more hunger (and more through the back challenges, but why let that worry you Mr. Clattenberg?). At 2-0 I felt comfortable we'd have a chance but then Evans went walkabouts and essentially gave the Hammers two more goals out of nothing chances. His form is truly shocking - makes me seriously question how good he was 18 months ago.

Good news is that Anderson was again great, and Hernandez and Smalling also looked pretty sharp.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Is Evans really that bad or was it just one bad game? Your lot were raving about him not long back and he seemed a pretty good player to me.

O'Shea on the other hand...

His mistakes yesterday were so schoolboy that it almost seems like a different player from the one 18 months ago. Seems to have actually lost strength, speed and leap - which a 22 year old shouldn't be doing.

I'm not giving up on him yet - he's still extremely young for a CB - but definitely don't trust him either. Someone sent a letter to F365 - claimed that he'd played just about half of United's matches, but had been on the pitch for 19/25 goals they've conceeded. Ouch.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He's just completely forgotten how to play football properly.

Looks like the public argument he had with SAF in the Milan away game last season was an insight into their relationship at the minute.

Oh and O'Shea...seriously...I've no idea. I swear this O'Shea ate the O'Shea from 2002/03 that nutmegged Luis Figo and lobbed Almunia in 04/05, or at least has him held captive.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I feel for Evans. This is the guy who made Drogba his bitch and played exceptionally well in Europe against the likes of Inter at the San Siro but is now making mistakes a kid wouldn't make and costing us goal after goal every time he plays. We'd be better off playing Fergie at centre half rather than him at the minute. He admitted that he'd lost his place due to poor form and that he needs to work hard and improve which shows maturity but his confidence looks totally shot and he's a shadow of his former self. Time is on his side with him only being 22 but he'll need to sort his head out soon or I can see Fergie sending him on his way. Such a shame as he looked like he was a couple of years away from being a genuinely world class centreback.

O'Shea is just O'Shea. None of the goals last night were his fault, he puts in a shift every time and his versatility is vital over the course of a season. The problem is he can't pass and doesn't seem to contribute going forward as much as he used to so he's an easy scapegoat when we don't win. That shot he had yesterday was hilarious, I did that in a match once when I was about 12 and it was proper fucking embarrassing, can't imagine how he felt playing for one of the biggest clubs in the worlds with millions watching.

I thought West Ham were pretty heavy in the tackle and there were a few that went too far, Boa Morte's unpunished foul on Fabio was pretty disgusting to be honest but hard tackling is no excuse for a defeat. We usually just hit back twice as hard and the reason we lost is more the fact we showed no fight ourselves rather than them kicking us off the ball.

Anyway, I do like the Carling Cup but I can't pretend I'm not glad it's that we're out of and not the CL and it's also better that we got thumped in the cup rather than the league.

Hopefully that will be a kick up the arse for a few of the fringe players and a bit of a wake up call.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah pretty much, lack of fight and with some I think it seems a problem, Fabio seems as talented as Rafael but the difference looks to be Rafael has that grit and willingness to get into players faces unlike Fabio.

Obertan seems to have no courage about him which if im honest think will be a problem you just can't fix. Evans is just playing rubbish, he'll be fine long term.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We've signed Anders Lindegaard too...Edwin can sort out his retirement package now.

This signing should be a big win for Ferguson, Manchester and all ManU fans. I saw some videos on YouTube, and there is possible to mark that Lindegaard have really good reflekses and he is very powerful keeper. Also, he is very brave! He goes in shot without fear...

I wish him all the best! I hope that he'll make big things for ManU just like a Schmeichel!
