Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great weekend for us :D

I think it was a must for Liverpool to take something from Chelsea today, if they had won it would have remained 5 points with us having to go to City and Villa which could have put them in a possible insurmountable position.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm truly scared at what kind of team we're going to be able to field at Eastlands. Certainly not a lot of first teamers.

Also will find it amusing when Balotelli mysteriously has his red card overturned by the FA...as they all drive out of headquarters in fancy new cars...

Agreed, now lets take 3 points from man city, and then it would be awesome.
I am hoping to be a great match.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not that this will necessarily happen, but what an oddity if it does. If United play:

---------------------VDS-------------------------
--O’Shea---Vida---Smalling---Evra-----
---------Fletcher—Scholes-----------------
-----------------Gibson-------------------------
----Obertan---------------------------Park---
---------------Chicarito------------------------

By my reckoning our whole first 11 will have cost about what City were rumoured to have spent on Tevez.
(Note this assumes that Berba, Carrick, Ando, Ferdinand, Rafael etc are flu’d out, and Nani is still broken)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd be shocked, I think our front 3 (we'll go 4-3-3) is the only concern really, I'd expect the rest to be full strength. Berbatov through the centre, Obertan/Nani and Park is probably what I'd expect

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Really enjoyed the Cantona program, thought it was well done.

Loved the action shot of our fans going fucking crazy at CoMS when Scholes heads in! Wish Sky etc would go that close in for live matches, gave me shivers watching it!

Good luck to Ole too, taking over at Molde. Total legend.

Solskjaer was a proper professional, very unselfish and a great role-model.

The type of person who is becoming scarce is football these days.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Agreed great player for us and hopefully he can comeback if he's good enough to manage us or even be part of our staff.

Also heard we've signed a young player from Norway, meant to be one of the best talents in Europe.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He actually is supposed to be pretty special...for a 15 year old. Not exactly one to watch for the next few years.

Far more exciting are Eikrem and Pogba. Both have a shot at making it if they can continue to develop. Unlike Gibson.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd say give Gibson some more time....remember when Fletcher first came on and most lads thought that he wasn't good enough for us, and how he wasn't consistent...Well, look how that turned out for us...

So, maybe Gibson just needs more time and he'll be one of the most consistent players to perform...maybe not world class, but one that can play for us to help us win

As usual, United have a big game and the week before loads of players are out injured or ill and big doubts for the game. Then they all start

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

;) Just a shame Giggs is out, this is the first Manchester derby he's missed in 19 years!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Our general attitude away from home is piss poor. Theres never any urgency to attack or force an opening. This has to come down to the coaching and tactical side of the game for which the coaches should take the blame. Just watch how Chelsea or Arsenal approach any game they play whether home or away. Queiroz needed back i think.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Strange match. I probably would have taken 0-0 before it - but City were poor and we really could have won.

How on Earth can Mancini justify bringing on a £28m striker in the last minute of extra time, at home, in a derby to waste time? What a coward. I look forward to the next City manager at least making something interesting with his cheat code team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I kinda got the impression he only did it to piss him off.

Agreed, Would have took the draw prior but City were just awful, I think Nani didn't seem ready IMO and just sailed through the game.

I've been saying this for a while. Our best years were behind us the moment he left.

So what did he actually do then? Since you think he's integral you must know he did something much better than Phelan? Or did the simple fact that we lost Judas 2.0 and Ronaldo could be the reason. naa your right they were rubbish it was Queiroz leaving which weakened us :))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's funny because I bet Queiroz introduced this 4-5-1 away from home system, considering he's not renowned for developing attacking gameplans, as anyone who saw how Portugal were under him.

Carrick was excellent, btw. Dominated the midfield battle and his supposed superior, Gareth Barry.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yup, given the general consensus on our midfield is that it's poor/weak etc, we totally dominated that area of the game against City's £60m trio. Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes were brilliant.

Evra going off changend the dynamics of the game a bit, we lost all width on that side as Park/Nani and O'shea are right footed. I think both fullbacks getting injured changed SAF's plan with Hernandez though, I think he would have liked to throw him on WITH Berbatov and get some balls into the box at the end but with the enforced changes maybe he didn't think it was such a good idea.

Berbatov was pretty good too, he held the ball up fantastically but just lacked that killer instinct again. He was unlucky with the overhead though, I thought it was Liverpool all over again!

Surely fisting is a red card offence? :NONO:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Berbatov's touch was incredible yesterday, and I'm really pleased that Carrick has found some kind of form again. It's almost like getting a new player.

Shame about the result, really felt like the game was up for the taking in the end. Totally agree about losing Evra and Rafael changing the game, Rafael standing up to Tevez was ace.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah haha. Tevez thought he'd scare him and gets in his face but then shits himself when Rafael shouts at him.

I read an interview with Carrick where he said he's had an achillies injury and thought he was fine and played through it but now it's better he feels much more confident and realises he should have got it sorted sooner, which goes some way to explaining his dodgy form last season.
