As well he (and any other manager who did the same thing) should be charged. His behaviour cannot be excused by adrenaline and what not. He's a manager, he's supposed to maintain some level of class and decorum, even if his players don't.

Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about, Jagielka played on, clearly didn't hear the whistle and DID NOT SCORE. So we don't even have to run the hypothetical 'if only he'd let play United would have lost' scenario - because VDS saved it.

I love how all of the 'stories' on this have left that point out, and if you hadn't seen the match you'd think that Jagielka was walking the ball into the net when the whistle went.

Hoping for a reaction tonight. Pretty gutted as work has prevented me seeing any of our past view matches live and that'll continue, but am sure of a good result ce soir, and hopefully the come back of Ando and Rio.

Been looking at some Picklive stats and Scholes has been your most consistent player in your last 4 games with well over 55 complete passes every time!!!! That's amazing! I wonder if he can still control the midfield in a CL match.

what a bummer. frustrating match for the players and fans,and made worse by the terrible injury. we really missed someone like scholes today.

Well that was dire.

Horrific for LAV, hopefully he'll make a full recovery. Such an innocuous challenge as well, much like Zamora's at the weekend. Broadfoot looked distraught.

One positive will be the fact that Nani will get played on the right from now on, but it's a hollow positive really.

Yeah at least good to see the Gers fans applauding(as compared to some others).

Also, maybe Berba should have been on the bench at least. On his current form, I'm sure he would have made a difference.

Sorry for Valencia. Hope nothing happened to the knee. The ankle is surely broken. Didn't seem a hard challenge though.

I saw Rooney twisting his ankle. Anything serious?

Really? I think he's shit and that's putting it mildly.

I think there's more things to worry about than Antonio Valencia breaking his ankle (hope he get's better soon btw). You'd better hope some of your more prized players (IMHO) don't get injured if that's your back-up from last night.

Sad news for Valencia, United fans and ultimately for all football fans. I love this player and will be missed a lot these months. I'm having a knee surgery soon and will be 6 months as well apart from pitches, so I understand the level of anxiety and sadness he may have the next days.

Hope the team can cope with it.

I hate to say this but we should have won last night.All we needed was a scrappy goal to settle it for teams who came to OT and parked their bus infront of their goal.

We were too slow to attack in the first half...our build up was slow and wasnt dangerous enough most of the time.

We lacked the ability to play ping pong passes at the edge of Ger's box to unlocked them which is a sad reality.

We have drive,we have guile but we certainly lacked creativity in the final third...which is why Sir Alex mentioned today that he shouldnt have left Dimi Berbatov out of the squad totally.

2 points lost for the third time in a row now.

We beat West Ham 3-0 didnt we or did i miss the end and they managed to score 3 in injury time?

And anyone who thinks Valencia is 'shit' clearly isn't worth listening to when they talk about football.

i saw this same injury when i watched footsall match with my own eyes...France were playing Slovakia and one French player broken his leg like that...it was realy realy bad look when his leg was just hangin...hope that Valencia will make it, especialy that..he will be back the same player..

Three decent 'silver linings' to a crap week:

1. Valencia's op went really well, it was a clean break (anyone know why that helps?) and he may be back training in February (!)
2. Bebe played his first reserves match and was apparently not terrible. I recorded it and will report back when I have 5 minutes outside of work. Oh we get thumped by Villa 4-1.
3. Possibly the best of all - Owen Hargreaves is back in Manchester and his surgeon says he should be fine, and has done very well with his rehab. Sprinting, twisting, jumping and all last week in Colorado. So...maybe he and Anderson can put us out of the misery of Darren Gibson and John O'Shea in the centre of the park.

1. A clean break reduces the damage of tissues around the affected area.Plus its easier for the doctors to put the bones back together instead of multiple fractures.

2.I have seen his extended highlights against Villa...He is very very fast and strong.He might lack ball skills but is very direct...more of a like for like replacement for Valencia rather than 'the new Ronaldo'

3.Any news about Owen Hargreaves is about scraping the bottom of the barrel right now.Lets just give him a run of games with the reserves first shall we?

Where do these girls come from? I mean, who would be proud of that?

Anyway, not feeling good about this one. Fear the long ball tactics which work so well against us (villa do it too, hoof it at the fast guy).

Woulds be nice to redeem some pride after that 4-1 a couple years ago, but I can't see anything above a draw. We're not playing great at the moment and neither are pool. Anyway, bring it on and all that.
