Messi is the best player on the planet and as unlikely as it is if England were to win the World Cup with Rooney being the catalyst he could still win it.

He'll finish in the top 3 Im sure which is a great achievement, hopefully he can get a PL winners medal to show for it.

Cripes, just wasted an evening watching the reserves v Wigan...I now understand why English clubs fail to produce young talent very often. Pitch was like a mine field, impossible to pass on. Wigan's approach appeared to be hoof it and play with their 9 other players as a shield.

I'm alright with that, but crikey they were a dirty bunch. Left their studs in challenges, tugged back, time wasting galore. And this in a meaningless reserve game at the end of the season. Looked like 11 players (actually, that's not fair, they had one Spanish kid that looked quality and tried to play football) who just wanted an excuse to kick some players trying to pass the ball.

Worst bit was the ref though. He seemed to encourage the rough play, waving away players when they'd been fouled, ignoring the jumping, two footed nastiness. I mean, if you're not going to protect primarily youth players in an end of season RESERVE game, what are you there for? To encourage them to become big grown ups with shortened careers?

Brilliant goal. The way he pushed forward at the end of the game, you wouldn't notice he's actually a defender. I'm glad he's successful in Spain. He is a great player, but he was always going to be a sub to Rio and Vidic at United.

But the thing is, he's better than Evans who's our third choice right now.
Fair play to him though. He believed in himself and wanted first team football even at his young age, and amazingly he found it a club as big as Barca.

I don't think Pique's actually better than Evans (but it's always hard to judge anyway). Evans's been very solid for two years now. I'm sure he coud be one of the best defendes in the PL.

Some people say it's because Vidic makes him look good when he plays alongside him but I don't think it's true. And there must be a reason why SAF rates him so highly.

Pique's far far better than Evans, he demanded first team football, Johnny didn't, that's the reason.Just a shame we couldn't have kept him.Pique and Evans with their youth could have formed a partnership lasting over a decade.

We all knew how good Pique was (Evans is fantastic defender for his age) and with him being homesick and wanting to return "home" their wasn't even a hard decision to be made with us having Evans.

It was best for both parties and I hope Pique the best :))

Maybe, I'm not saying we would beat them. We couldnt even beat Bayern.
But if we had made it through, we still would have been favourites.
