Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Christ we didn't deserve to win there at all. Awful performance as a team. We just looked so tired. Evra, Rooney, Park and Valencia particularly looked the worst affected. Rooney hardly made a successful pass all night and should really have done better when he had Demichelis one on one twice in the first half and the other chance where he shot straight at Butt.

Hopefully his injury isn't too bad and the other lads perk up cos otherwise we won't win on Saturday.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Shite performance, could not pick more than 3 passes,Park did nothing,Nevilles a bellend and rooneys injured.Reminded me of barca in the CL last year.very similar performance.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

whoevers bright idea it was to play scholes as a holding midfielder needs to be shot. not that any blame should be put on him but there are better players suited for such an important position in a european away tie. we could have done with his passing ability further up the pitch though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Problem is those Munich players are huge  and they pass the ball a lot too! unlucky for Rooney to land on his ankle a bit of a twist. Did anyone here a whistle blow when Gomez fell? I swore the whistle blew hence why Evra let the ball roll .

We started with Carrick holding but Scholes wasn't getting close enough to van Bommel so I think SAF changed it around, like he did against Arsenal, only this time it didn't have any effect.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well then. Completely outclassed, out-hustled and out-played. We should be thanking our lucky stars (and Edwin, who was superb) that it's only 2-1. For everyone that has seemingly missed it, Fletcher and Park are still both limited footballers when it comes to close control. So if you man mark Paul Scholes, we're not able to pass our way out of anything. Simples.

Probably the worst I've seen us play since Leeds in the FA Cup - and that was our youth/second team. Awful awful showing.

Personally I'm glad we lost. Hopefully it'll wake up some of the fans and Sir Alex and they'll realise we're not quite world class anymore.]

Also, it's worth reminding everyone that we lost our best player, and probably 4th best player in the off-season, didn't replace them. Our defense has now played 5 matches together in the whole season. Our 'key new signing' Owen Hargreaves hasn't played once. We're doing pretty damn well all considering.

Retarded logic that but anyway...

We were fucking awful and struggled to complete 2 passes together but to use that as a way to show lack of quality is silly considering Rooney, Evra and Carrick were our worst on the night who are proven quality.

Im quite optimistic with that, played as bad as we could and 2-1 down which is a alright result to take to OT. Hopefully Rooney's fine. SAF won't let this happen on Saturday and we'll be much better at OT. :))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Don't worry, everyone plays as bad as United today in the Allianz Arena,
I don't know exactly why but I think it's because of the small pitch.
Just look at Germany-Argentina, awful match, also most of the matches with
Bayern in Bundesliga are not fun to watch because the Away team is not able
to play in this stadium very well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Bayern usually has troubles in Allianz, and without Robben and Schweinsteiger.. You should be concerned guys, this Bayern is the same who beat 4-1 Juve in Turin.

I agree and they face 10 times before,Manu won 1 time only, correct me if i am wrong

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If we can get a decent tempo going (ie our normal pace) at OT I think we'll be ok. Their CBs showed that they can be carved open easily enough, but our poor play stopped us exploiting it. Bayern did have good tactics though in having the strikers drop back. It kind of overran us 6-5 in midfield at times, as well as having players behind ours ready to counter when we gave away possession.

It would have been a different story had Vida's header not cannoned off the bar though...

On a sidenote, Bayern should be f*cking ashamed of themselves for the theatrics & diving they pulled.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

From what I've seen of VDS this season. Most importantly this game and the 2 Milan ones. He is the best GK in the world. World class. Olic had to fake to ensure the ball will go in.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, VDS was out of this world last night. Was going to take luck to beat him, which they got with the deflection/Evra going to sleep.

Interesting to hear that Bayern's pitch is smaller - it felt like that watching but I put it down to their harrying. Personally I can't understand why all pitches don't have to be the same size, but there you go.

No Rooney for at least a couple games. Of which are our two most important of the season. Bugger. Well if Berbatov was looking for a chance to prove himself...and then there is The One. And Macheda, who I still rate but hasn't played all year. Bugger.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yeah these injuries take like a month or so. It happened the same to Pato a while back.

Huh? I didn`t notice too much of that both had their share Neville falling on key and Rooney dove for a penalty other then that it was a good game 2-1 means nothing away from home

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The ref didn't like any contact, so the game was stop/start for the most part, and it seemed that everytime a United player went near them they fell over and got a free kick. At least he was consistent and did the same for us, but they seemed to milk it. I'm not saying United are angels, but you don't see it as bad as that in the EPL...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Actually Rooney was wrestling on the pitch. Anyone see that double punch on Demichelis...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It was hardly a punch, Demichelis was blocking his run and he was trying to get past him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeh Rooney was just eager as he always is. I wonder what the line up will be for Saturday seeing as most of the lads looked shattered. Im sure SAF would want them to be at their best for Wednesday.

I'd take a draw on Saturday.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Code:
             VDS
Nev Rio Vida Evra
      Fletch Carrick
Valencia Giggs Nani
           Berbatov

Park and Scholes are the only players that could break that lineup I think.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Stick Giggs on the left, Nani on the right in his best position, play Park through the center and have Valencia come on deep into the second half. Theres no Rooney so his crossing is almost pointless, but his pace will be useful when everyone else is tired.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fuck resting any of them, our 19th title and the chance to overtake Liverpool is far more important to me than any Champions League trophy.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

@ Northstand - Agree fully. The last thing we need is to get embarassed by Chelsea at OT, when are focus should be on the league.

We've only lost one player here, and will have had 4 days to recover. Fine that player is rather good, but come on. We should be able to manage a performance missing just 1!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not only are Bolton not Chelsea, but this is a Chelsea who is 100% focused on winning the league this year. For Ancelotti, it might be a do or die game. As well as the players, this is the only thing they can fight for, so expect them to be running all out at us.

SAF did say before that the league is more important this year, but he has always loved European competition...so its hard to say...
