Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Had a couple of good texts today:

What's had 34 MOT's but never turned a wheel?
City's open top bus.
=============================================

Breaking News: Man City are considering a new sponsorship deal with Viagra... For those times when you wait years for a semi, only to lose it right at the end!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rio's banned for 4 games, so misses matches against Arsenal, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Everton...

Hahaha. I got sent another:

Man City's game will now have to be shown on the XXX Channel because watching 11 arseholes get pounded for 90 minutes is just to explicit for normal TV.

Fantastic result last night, we were by far the better team although with Tevez and the pace of Bellamy they were always dangerous on the break. Rooney's ball into Giggs for the first goal was just breathtaking and it was fitting that he got the winner in injury time (by the way, fantastic keeping on that by Given ;))). It's a shame about the coin/bottle throwing and there's not really any excuse for it but Bellamy invites this kind of stuff on himself with his attitude and I can't say I'm surprised. It's a bit like rotten tomatoes being thrown on stage at actors in the theatre in the old days I suppose, apart from it hurts more! Good of him to milk it as well, I dont think the natural reaction is to lie down on the floor right infront of the crowd who've just thrown a coin at him is it? Cock. How he went both legs without getting booked is a fucking joke.

Re: Rio. It's crap but he had it coming. One thing that annoys me and I think needs changing is the system. In everyday criminal law, you are charged with something, then taken to court and you have a chance to have your say, justify/deny what you did and explain your actions. Only after hearing this, is it the length of your sentence decided (if any, you could be found not guilty).

In football however, it's a bit differnet. Having seen replays the FA decides what Rio did was violent conduct. So they charge him with it. Fair enough. So then Rio has a choice of accepting the charge with automatic 3 match ban, OR if he dares, denying the charge which 9/10 results in an extended ban. How exactly is this fair?

The Michael Turner incident was worse than this. He got sent off for elbowing, which from looking at the replays appeared accidental. He appeals and his 3 match ban for violent conduct is extended for the 'frivolous' appeal.

It's fucked up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If anything gets done about the coin incident (which really, it should, though it should be an internal matter) then I'll be fucking livid.

Absolutely nothing was said about the fans throwing stuff at Evra in the first leg, so why should it be any different now?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its different because its Old Trafford.

There are more and more rumours on Anderson going AWOL. its starting to get me thinking that will he be sold? cause I like that kid. I think he has done quite nicely at times and should be a great replacement in the future for scholes

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We'll have to see but personally I can't see him being sold or anything. Maybe he'll get the "Nani" and be left out for a while and then bring him back in.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The Rio ban was obviously forthcoming.

I guess Fergie wanted him available for the derby, so had to sacrifice getting his ban extended by appealing to do so.

Hopefully we'll have Vidic match fit for the Arsenal game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeh I think that was the thinking behind it, Vidic wasn't available and we needed 1 of them, Evans and Vidic will be fine.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anderson being linked with Lyon. Might be why we havent seen him lately.
I don't really want to see him leave but I'd settle for a loan deal, unless we can buy someone new. Or as far as we know, his sale will be funding the Smalling deal so it'll have to be a straight transfer to Lyon.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I just think we've not found the right role for Anderson.

Before he came he was attacking, then we turned him into almost a ball-winning, box-to-box type, then we've tried to give him a go at being creative.

Maybe another team will have better joy with him and develop him properly?

Of course, it doesn't help that he is widely recognised as being a bit thick.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If he gets loaned then he's most likely to leave permanently, Still don't believe it though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I bet if he went to Spain to play for a team like Atletico Madrid, he'd be a hit.

With Atletico's attacking prowess, he'd probably be converted into a left back as he's already more defensively disciplined than half their defence, not to mention his shocking shooting ability.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well that simply makes me pleased that Nani is properly back on track.

I've heaped more criticism on him in the past two years than I thought possible (with good reason as well, he's been fucking shite), but he certainly seems to have turned a corner.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm glad his confidence is getting better now. It'll certainly affect his game.

Everything seems to be coming back to normal now. Almost everyone's fit and Rooney's recovered his goalscoring form. Hopefully United will go on a winning roll like they usually do by this time of the year.

On a different matter, anyone see this ? Keith Harris calls for Manchester United takeover

On the one hand, I'd be happy if the club is taken away from the Glazer, but only if it allows the club to be debt free.

On the other hand, I don't want it to be owned by another one of these wealthy people from the Middle East. It could be unhealthy if too many clubs are controlled by the same group of people.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be honest, I only care about the debt, not so much about who actually owns the club. As long as we're not in debt then we'd be fine. And if it takes a wealthy middle eastern bloke to do it then thats fine with me. To me, United always has and always will belong to the supporters.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Agreed but I'd rather not go down the route of being a sugar daddy's play thing where we decided to splash 70M on the owners mate.

Didn't even know they liked Utd.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Never thought we'd beat Arsenal here, I was expecting a draw! However Michael Jackson (Nani) & Shrek (Rooney) are on fucking fire!

We'll fight for the title right to the wire!

Stunning counter-attacking football. I can feel extremely pleased all week now.

Rooney for Ballon D'or next year?
