Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Right, so its 4-4-2 and Owen and Rooney are starting. Rio's back and Gary isnt playing. As of right now, we have no excuses.

EDIT
Looks like I didnt need any.
20 league goals in 23 games. He's turning into a machine.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Seems Tevez scoring twice pissed him off no end.

19 in 22 league games Rune, 20 in 28 overall.

He just needs to score in Europe now, he's not got one yet.

I fear for Citeh's defence with him like this.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great performance today, Fuck me Nani was Ronaldo Mk 2 today, Simply awesome for the 90. Rooney was again our only real source of a goal though which is great to see him scoring so many but worrying if he were injured/suspended.

Rio at the back helped big time, his distribution and calmness helped a lot. All we need know is Vida :))

Enjoyed the Glazer out chants the whole way through. Overall very good and more of the same on Wednesday.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think I agree with you in saying that he thinks he's a bigger/stronger figure at the club than most but he'd never put himself above the club itself. He respects the tradition and the whole "United way" of doing things too much to say he's bigger than the club.

Exactly and he said as much in the programme notes today.

"Manchester United is bigger than me, the players, the directors, the officials and fans. And, particularly at this critical stage of the season, we need to pull in the same direction."

Decent performance today, I was a bit worried we weren't gonna kill the game off and they would get a jammy equaliser, especially when they had that chance that went just past the post at 1-0. Then they got tired and it all started to click and Rooney and Nani were devastating.

Nice to have Rio back, I just hope he doesnt get banned (along with Evra :P) for the punch on Fagan, not that the little cunt didn't totally deserve it.

Really happy for Nani, nice to prove his haters wrong, he's a frustrating bastard at times but he's shown he can do it.

Really happy for Wayne too as he's looked like the only one who cares at times and hasn't always got the goals his performances have deserved.

Really happy for me because I had him as captain on fantasy football nabbing me a cool 64 points for this week.

Loving the anti-Glazer chants and the gold and green. Looks like the media have picked up on it too.

Boosh.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

wow.. Rooney! there are nicer ways about pushing Arsenal down to 2nd spot :P a 1-0 would of been great. Oh well

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think thats the first time Ive watched a game without Nani frustrating me. Well played to him, maybe he should be left on the right wing instead of putting him on the left, but then there is Valencia! I would love to see an out an out left winger signed to balance the team up that little bit more. Also whats happend to Obertan! from starting a few games to not even getting on the bench now

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Was gonna mention that. He hasnt done much wrong but isnt even making the bench. He's not injured, is he?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be fair he was shit against Leeds.

He played for the reserves on Thursday and set up Diouf's second goal, he'll still be on the fringes, Fergie's probably just easing him in slowly.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Tbh if Ruud was available on a free at the beginning of the season would you sign him over Michael Owen? Despite the fact he had a personal spat with SAF?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I definately would, I'm sure Sir Alex wouldnt though. No need to explain why.

Just caught the highlights on Sky. Nani's performance was probably the best I had ever seen from him. His delivery was brilliant, his tricks, his freekick, etc were very Ronaldo-esque. Lets see if he can keep it up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Real Madrid have hired that super agent Zahavi and told him, his objective is to get Wayne Rooney. I know Perez always gets what he wants but Madrid can promptly fuck off thank you!

I cannot see Rooney ever leaving United in the forseeable future! Ronaldo left because he wanted to, Rooney's happy to stay! Honesty I tell every one don't believer everything you read in the papers if we did...

We'd have Sol Campbell by now and apparently Joe Cole is coming to us on a free transfer in the summer!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Even though Owen's finishing was not quite to his standards, yesterday's game just showed how Rooney's at his best when partnering someone else upfront.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I agree, he definitely works better with another striker with him, although yesterday he scored 3 of his 4 when Berbatov was up with him, not Owen.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good to see Rooney score with a man down in the area. And it's not a dig, if teams cry wolf the whole game they shouldn't complain when it bites them on the ass. Although strangely there seems to be a total lack of coverage about it, guess it's because he is an England player. Was hoping it would cause a small storm to get people to realise the total nonsense it is when players fake injuries to waste time.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Aye, play to the whistle.

Hull actually had the chance to clear it out for a corner or throw in just before the goal but kept it in play.

And it was funny to see Rooney, for the goal, trying to stay onside with the last defender even though the "injured" defender was playing everyone onside.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Hahah yeah I noticed that, he was probably just making sure the lino had no chance of calling him offside for the guy down being 'inactive'. Like Abou said, they had a chance to put it out and didn't. What incentive was there for the defender to get up? Stay down and there's a chance we'll put the ball out, very cynical but if we'd given up a chance to score for him to then just get up we'd be fuming.

Fuck 'em, it was hardly the worst act of poor sportsmanship we've seen lately.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I just think back to Chelsea against us at the start of the season. I guess most teams would have made the most of it in a situation like that.

As for the Rooney/Madrid rumours, I'm sure the player wants to stay but our financial situation really worries me. We needed the sale of Ronaldo to make a profit otherwise we wouldnt even have broken even. If Madrid get another £70-£80 million together for Rooney, how can we expect the Glazers to say no?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney won't leave(yet at least anyway). He's so vital to our team right know its frightening, If theirs ever been a time for opposition to call us a one man team its now. SAF Wouldn't let him leave and if we need money then Vidic will probably be the one off to Real.

Thought I'd post this comp, lad was awesome and gives us a problem at right wing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nice move at 3:30. Owen really should have hit that harder.

Well they'd have to drag Wazza to Madrid, and force his hand to hold the pen and sign the contract probably.

And if they ever did, I think Fergie would actually speak up against them, not to mention fans rioting in the streets..

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Whatever happened to Kiko anyway? Last time I heard he was being punished by SAF for his lack of improvement.

I think 4 strikers is more than enough anyway. Might as well lend him to another club for half a year.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just come back from injury. Played the last 10 minutes of the last reserve game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So who do you guys reckon is ahead in the pecking order? Kiko or Diouf?
I know that Diouf is at the moment, based on form and fitness but in terms of ability?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good question!
I haven't seen too much of either recently to make a fair judgement, but I think it'd depend on who they were playing alongside.
Diouf seems to be quicker, and more of an out and out goalscorer, a bit Andy Cole like. Playing him in front Rooney or (an in the mood) Berbatov would suit him as he'd run onto everything.
Kiko is bigger so more of an aerial threat (unless Diouf has taken jumping lessons from Evra!) and seems a bit more technical - going on what I've seen in the reserves. He's definately got goalscoring ability, though seems to be just as good at holding the ball up and playing others in. My opinion is that he'd be better up front alongside (not in front of) Rooney or Owen.

However, I think they'd make a great strike duo together so looking forward to them tearing up the reserve league!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Diouf apparently isn't that clinical so I wouldn't call him and out and out striker, He's quick and does have a Evra like leap though.

Macheda IMO is a bigger goal threat personally, whenever the kid has the ball in and around the box you just expect a finish. I think he'll become a top striker, even though he's not as talented as the likes of King and Welbeck.
