Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

ESPN commentator just said what I was thinking. Will Rooney get the same criticism that Ngog got for diving?

I doubt it somehow.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He got a LOT of criticism for it nonetheless, the media had a field day over it.

Nothing will get said about Rooney, I'm positive about that. The media will gloss right over it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Okay, so clearly I don't understand injury time. Stephen Warnock was treated for just under 4 minutes. There were then 6 substitutions. Total added time? 3 minutes. K.

Fair play to Villa, they were like a scrappy insignificant European team coming to Old Trafford. Score an early goal then defend with 11 men and waste time the entire second half. Regardless, we didn't create much. If I were a Villa fan, seriously aspiring to be in the top4 I'd be a bit embarassed hearing my coach telling players to take it to the corner flat in the 79th minute. But that's just me.

Awful Rooney dive. Glad he got booked. Bet they play that on MoTD.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah to be fair, the dive was terrible and I'm not going to defend it but Dags you are talking out of your arse, the commentators didn't shut up about it and when you've got Steven fucking Gerrard in your team who's diving is censored by the media I think it's a bit rich bringing up N'Gog.

The injury time was a joke. Most of the 3 minutes was inactive and I think even the bitters would admit it was short of what it should have been. Still we probably wouldn't have scored so it doesn;t make much difference. I can see another touchline ban for SAF for his rant at the fourth official and then the obligatory 4 match ban for Evra too.

The first half was fantastic I thought, Villa came out and played, it was end to end and it's such a shame they spent almost the entire second half with every player behind the ball. They figured out the way to beat us is to stop us scoring, every time we've lost this season we've failed to register. Not a coincidence I don't think, a combination of the oppositions tactics and our inability to break teams down.

This was the perfect chance to pull Chelsea back as well.

Gutted.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, we're not equipped to beat down a team defending with 11 men. You need someone like Drogba or Torres who can create something out of a long ball. YOu can't play to feet when its that crowded.

Did Owen touch the ball when he came on?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He wasn't that bad, that cross he did that Rooney and Park missed could have easily been a goal and when teams park the bus he's got no room to work in anyway so he spent most of the time coming back and passing back to Gibson and Carrick.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Absolute shower of shite.

Rooney was unbeliveable wasteful, there was no creativity or bite (game was crying out for Scholes I thought, shame he couldn't play), Owen came on and didn't get a sniff, Berbashit came on and did what all good £30m strikers do, nothing.

Credit to Villa, they stuck to their game plan and did what they needed to but I hated whichever commentator on ESPN it was saying they came here with the intention to attack and proved you don't have to park the bus to win. Erm, excuse me, but did you watch the second half mate?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Obviously looks like a load of BS. Would be nice if it was true.
Maybe then we wouldnt have had to screw around with Ljajic's career like that.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I knew it would be a tough game, First half was awesome to be honest, great half but complete opposite the second. Rooney I thought looked really up for it 1st half(shocking dive apart) but like the game went completely the other way the 2nd.

Don't want to be harsh but if Nani wasn't injured it was the wrong decision for him not to be in the squad at least, With a 4-3-3 Park shouldn't start IMO. Can't really blame Berba as he should have started instead of Park with Giggs outwide.

Something interesting though is I don't think this Chelsea team is good enough to run away with it, Good omen for us and Arsenal if were their or thereabouts in March.

Bitterness Rising? I think the main difference is that Brum got punished for Ngog's dive, whereas Rooney got punished for his, and why did'nt you bring this same point up last week when your captain got booked for diving?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Haha is he fuck

Gerrard added a new technique to his diving repertoire last weekend.

Goodbye 'Starfish', hello 'Frozen Dog'.

Rooney's dive was mentioned in the match reports in The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, The Sun, The Mirror, The Daily Express, The Daily Mail, the BBC Sport website and Football365.

Just as well you didnt put any money on it eh.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You actually went through all the publications in an attempt to prove a point? Bet you're having a cracking Sunday so far eh?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nah it only took about 5 minutes to have a quick skim over the match reports on the websites and anyway I wouldn't want you spending your life upset that N'gog got a bit of criticism for robbing Birmingham of 3 points and feeling bitter about Rooney when there's no need eh.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Sounds like you're bitter that Ngog actually got a penalty and Rooney didn't, nevermind eh?

Still, you have to have something to complain about when you lose, it's never because the opposition were better. Damn that injury time/not getting a penalty/Villa not giving you the ball when you asked for it/Villa daring to try and play attacking football at OT/etc.

Always funny to see Utd fan reactions when they lose and blame everyone and everything but themselves

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You don't half talk shite, most of us said we didn't deserve to win and condemned Rooney for diving, not one person said we should have had a penalty.

Where? All I can see is bitterness that Villa defended for the whole second half, and complaints about not getting enough injury time for you to score your usual equaliser.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yes but we didn't the deserve win anyway, its the principle of getting the minutes we deserved (if they gave us an extra 20 we probably wouldn't have scored).

The old penalty claim is really ridiculous considering you get almost double the penalties anyone else gets in the league while im sure we get far less than any other top 4 team considering most games where parked in their half of the field.

Not sure how you can say we always complain, when you lot come to the conclusion its the Yanks fault when Rafa and the players get outplayed by teams who have half the budget of yours most weeks this season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Dags is on the WUM but he's not very good at it because he can't back what he says up with anything.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yep, can't be arsed trawling around websites and newspapers just to prove a point thanks very much

You're just making stuff up as you go.

During the match yesterday you came in here all upset because Rooney dived and then when I show you that the media didn't ignore it and you were WRONG all you can do is accuse me of being bitter about N'Gog and laugh because I spent less than 5 minutes looking through the match reports. Nice one.

Yesterday out of the blue you tried to bait me and Abou with an article about your finances saying we'll come in and say it's biased and incorrect information, okay fair enough, but it might have been an idea to choose an article that wasn't written by a scouse Liverpool fan and that didn't contain incorrect information!

Like I say, if you're going to be a WUM, at least do it well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

MOTD didn't mention the dive I believe? And yes, it obviously would've taken you more than five minutes to go through nine websites and read match reports just to try and find out if they mention Rooney's dive just so you can try and prove a point.

Interesting how you think the article was written by a Liverpool fan, did you research that to try and prove a point as well?

And it wasn't baiting at all, I fully expect you and Abou to come in after any post about Liverpool and try to take the piss somehow claiming it's inaccurate/lies/biased/written by a Liverpool supporting journalist you had to Google and check first/etc because you just can't let anything positive get said in the LIVERPOOL thread without trying to have a say and make it negative.

That was my point. I said it ages ago, and it still stands, but I swear you spend more time in the LIVERPOOL thread than "your own". And no, I'm not going to research it on Google to bring up stats to back up my claim that you do spend more time in the Liverpool thread

Tell you what I'd love to see though. How about emailing Paul Tomkins (Liverpool writer and whos blog posts I regularly copy onto this forum) and have a discussion with him about how he's so biased and has incorrect info. I'm not the greatest at going through trawling the internet for facts to back up my claims but I'm sure he'd have a field day with your claims that he's wrong. And likewise, I'm sure you'd have fun trying to pick his claims apart as well. It'd make fun reading :)
