Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well I'd say Jumbo's summed it up.

Tomorrow will a be tough match I think, Has been tight matches for us the last 2 seasons away from home. Expect Rooney and Berba to start hopefully Rooney can kick on from that hattrick.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

:D

That slightly makes up for a rather shit end to the week.

Liverpool fans can go on all they want about injuries but we just played the majority of that match away from home with only 2 recongnised defenders (one being one of the most attacking in the league), our 2nd/3rd choice keeper and we still kept a clean sheet. We even finished the match with just Evra from our defenders and 10 men.

Great performance, boosted our goal difference, another clean sheet and to make it even better the scouse drew again. Just a shame about the injuries.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not seen the match but can't believe we finished with Evra and Carrick as a centre-back partnership, who the hell did he pick in the first place and what happened?

Nice to see us score four again, hopefully we're on course for a run of big scoring games to boost the goal difference.

Wazza on the score sheet again, hopefully the sign of his next run of goals, he's just one goal off his total for last season and he's done it in half of the games as well. Just wish he'd score in Europe.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Vidic was taken ill before the match and Rio, Sheasy, Evans, Fabio and Rafael were injured I think, so we started with Nev and Brown in the middle at Fletcher at rightback. Neville got injured after half hour so we put Carrick on (De Laet was on the bench too). Then after we'd made all 3 subs Brown picked up an injury so we finished with 10 men and only Evra as a recognised defender.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So for the next game, Fletcher and Evra are pretty much a guarantee in the full back positions. But who do we have left for center half?

Other than the injuries, its been a great week, especially after Chelsea lost. I think everything is slowly starting to click back into place.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

leave it to Nani! son :LMAO:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well looks like we might be in for Dzeko, think he's a brilliant striker and would score shit loads for us but where does that leave Owen? Berba may become a bench player? Not sure how it would work.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd take Dzeko over Berba and Owen anyday of the week.

A tall striker, an aerial threat who will actually have a shot on goall, play up front and not as sweeper and score regularly? Yes please.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I guess this means we pulled the plug on Ljajic to fund a Dzeko deal. Prices are similar.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Only problem is, he has his heart set on a move to Milan, will he actually want to play for us if we bid for him?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If he had his heart set on Milan, he would have left for them at the end of last season, instead of signing a new contract.

Him and Grafite were freaks last season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Hrm, I'd imagine the Dzeko interest is a result of a certain ex-scouser spectacularly failing at meeting expectations. We could do worse then a big, skillful front man. Though it makes me wonder what this Diouf signing was all about...

I'm not that worried about Tuesday, even if we get trounced we're through, and over the past 5 years we seem to do better against 'big' teams in the CL then the small ones.

Saturday at Villa is another story - they've finally got their first team back and we'll definitely only have 1 established CB, and maybe no established RB. Last few times we've played Villa they've been awfully negative, just leave the fast fella up front and hoof it at him. And tbh, that'll kill us without Rio or a RB. Can't really see Carrick chasing down the ball over the top can you!?

Where for art thou, Owen Hargreavs...?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Vidic hasn't travelled to Germany, so here's hoping it's to make sure he isn't risked ahead of Saturday's game.

Our back line will most likely be Fletcher-Carrick-De Laet-Evra, with everyone praying that no-one gets injured!
In a way it'd be funny if Kuszczak gets injured as we'd end up with Rooney in goal!

Somehow I can't see us going on another 13 game run without conceding this season...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I hope Ritchie De Laet is on that plane because its been reported that only two recognised defenders in Pat Evra and Oliver Gill(apparently this is David Gill's son!) is onboard!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney and Berba also out. Will be interesting to say the least, I'll go with..

--------------Foster--------------
Fletcher--Carrick--Gill/Gibson-Evra
---Anderson--Gibson/Scholes-Park
-Obertan------Owen-----Nani

Either way Grafite and Dzeko are going to tear them a new on.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Freaking eh, this an injury 'crisis' that's Arsenal like in scope!
Out:
VDS, Ferdinand, Vidic, O'Shea, Brown, Evans, Neville, Rafael, Fabio, Hargreaves, Berbatov, Rooney

Worse news being that Ferdinand is no better, and O'Shea and Evans are out til the New Year! What the hell!?

If Evra gets hurt we might as well just surrender now, that would leave our defense, which has 2 internationals at every position completely gone. Impressive!

:CONFUSE: Please tell me that was a joke.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its as though Fergie has had a whip around the office, I can imagine it now

Fergie : "Anyone know a decent center half"
Gill : "I took my son in the park the other day"
Fergie : "That will do!"

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be fair, David Gill is a pretty massive fella, so hopefully his son is tall too!

Seriously, what is wrong with footballers this year? Suck it up!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ridiculous that you're winning 4-0 after having so many players injured. Hats off.

Thanks, but tbh West Ham barely showed up. I think tonight will be the true test, and that we're going to be hammered (oohhhh)

Then a potential loss to Villa on Saturday (who is going to deal with Agbonlahor - Carrick? No way) and then hopefully we can get Brown, Vidic and Rafael patched up for the weekend after.

Just unlucky timing. Sucks, but you do what you've gotta do.

Wish we could hire Ancelotti's physios, they have Chelsea in superb shape this season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Were the likes of Cleverley, Cathcart, Simpson and Eckersley all defenders ?

If they are all out on loan surely Fergie should recall some of them if at all possible

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Cleverley is an attacking midfielder, and I think Eckersley has gone permanently to Burnley. I might be wrong but I think (depending on the loan agreements) we wouldn't be able to recall the others (including Chester) until the start of the transfer window.
Is Corry Evans out on loan, or does he not qualify under the 2 yr home grown rule?
