Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Adler...! Droooollllll yes please!

Where could that clause have come from? Have we ever done anything with Leverkusen before?

No Rio, Vida or Giggsy on Saturday. Normally I wouldn't be fussed, but have to hope Brown, O'Shea and Evans are ready, because we all know how Big Sam is going to play!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I agree that Tosic should be given a bit of a run in the first team now. Seen him play for the reserves quite a bit this season and has impressed but he needs a good run in the team to get some understanding going.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah I feel really sorry for Tosic, he seems quite a quiet kid (a bit like Valencia) and maybe this is holding him back a bit, or at least making SAF think he's not quite ready yet. I think we should just give him a few chances, he's looked good in the reserves and if that shot had've gone in against Barnsley he'd finally have made an impact on the first team and things would be different.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just read on Sky Sports that Vidic & Ferdinand might not be out tomorrow...
Usually that would worry me, but I'm sure Wes & Evans will be more than up for it. It'd give Vida & Rio a kick up the backside...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah I thought we played well, only problem was the slight lack of penetration but to be fair Blackburn had 10 players behind the ball for 85% of the match so it was always going to be tricky breaking them down.

Both the goals were well taken, Berba's was a fantastic bit of skill, shame it took him 5 chances to score! Funny thing is, it was the hardest chance that he took!

Obertan was quite impressive, looked a bit nervous and really should've scored but we can forgive him that, he'll settle in and hopefully sort out his rubber ankles.

Anderson was really good today with Carrick, I thought he pretty much ran the game and Brown and Evans were solid too.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anderson and Carrick were effective because Blackburn basically didn't attack.

However they offered no creativity at all, in fact, the entire team offered no creativity at all.

Can't believe Obertan missed that chance but hell, if it was my first appearance in the Prem, at OT, I'dve missed it as well. Owen the same as well, just when you think he might go on a scoring run, he missed a semi-decent chance.

Still, although we were shit, we at least won, didn't concede and didn't have anyone sent off which is definitely a plus.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Were crap for the first 30 minutes but then controlled it. Anderson was very good along with Carrick I thought. Nani had a good first half IMO but did nothing the 2nd. Valencia was ok throughout.

Berba and Roon need to be more clinical otherwise did well. Obertan looked really nervous, seemed to sort himself out near the end where he started to come into it. I feel for the lad. He has alot of expectation on his shoulders. Expect a few to compare him to Ronaldo then to say he's rubbish in the coming weeks (like Nani)

Very good second half performance. The finishing may have been poor, but some of our stuff was absolutely brilliant. And both goals were great strikes. It should have been more really.

Obertan looked nervous but he did pretty well, though I can't believe he missed that chance. It would have been a huge confidence boost had he scored that. That said, I like the guy. I watched his reserve games and one thing I noticed and did not expect is that he has great vision and passing. I hope he'll be given a few more games.

I'm very pleased overall.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeh if were being honest he was crap yesterday. Nerves got the better of him. Looked much better against Barnsley midweek.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I agree we played comfortably due to Blackburn's inability to attack.
Wes and Jonny puts in a great shift and actually looked like a settled pairing.
I think the crowd contributed to Obertan's nervous debut but he did look okay towards the end.Still too skinny for my liking. He should start eating Ronaldo's pills when he was growing up with us.
Two highly skilled goals from Berba and Rooney settled it in the end.
Lets go to Stamford and rock the Bridge.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's a bad year for Ferdinand to be sidelined so often. Capello's the kind of guy who will want his players to be fit and play regularly.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nobody's mentioned Chimbonda is a cunt. Always thought he was a good player until his last game with Man Utd. Bitching quite a lot while making sure he injures one.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

With Ferdinand I'm almost at the point where I say sit him til Christmas, let him get whatever surgery/etc he needs and make do with our other defenders. This whole one week on one week off isn't helping anyone.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Seeing how both Vidic and Rio have been going through this bad patch, a good idea would be to only play one of them at a time alongside Evans or Brown so that they can individually get back in form while his CB partner covers their back. Once both are back to 100%, play them together again.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

After this coming weekend's game we have a few weeks off, so hopefully that rest will help Rio. I'd imagine that he'll be rested against CSKA, but back for the Chelsea game. I'd prefer Wes at the moment (though he did have one or two Micky Silvestre moments against Blackburn!). Either way it's reassuring to know we have 2 capable centre halves to step in if Rio or Vida need to be left out.

The media are happy to run stories saying we're not playing well, or that certain players are past it, but we're still pushing Chelsea so there's no need to panic. Admittedly we will need to be better than we were on Saturday otherwise we will be punished.

Any news on Hargo yet? Can't wait to have him back...

I think everyone knows he is one, it's just that when you're in the same lineup as Diouf you look like a saint!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

With Hargo back,Sir Alex would have a healthy problem in midfield.Who would be first choice? Currently there are no definite starters in the middle like back then...but then again there is only one Roy Keane!

Reports today saying that Mr David Villa has apparently chose United if he ever decides to play in the Premiership.Rumour has it also that he has rejected Chelski in the past before and will again even if they come up with a big sum.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If villa does come, does that mean the end of the Berba experiment? Will Berba be willing to sit on the bench most of the games? Cause there's no way that he will be chosen ahead of Villa and Rooney. Wouldn't mind him coming though...

on a side note, congratz to Wayne on being a father to Kai Wayne Rooney. Also means that a sub side will be sent out against CSKA...Welbeck and Owen leading the attacks?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Don't think Rooney would have played anyway.

Chance for the fringe/young players to impress.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We won't get Villa, Whats wrong with Berba anyway? Didn't you lot think he did well on Saturday?!

Tomorrow should be good. I think Obertan will get a start or atleast feature. I'd put money on one of the twins playing, Hopefully Welbeck gets a game to show us how he can do.

--------Welbeck---Owen---------
Obertan--Scholes-Fletcher--Valencia
Evra----Brown-----Evans---Rafael
-----------Van-Der-Sar---------
