Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 At Abhi mentioning Gerrard along with Messi and Ron.

I think we'll sign a Winger and a CF, 1 being a "potential" player, the other being World Class. People are forgeting Ronaldo scored 26 last season and 42 the year before, We need to add more goals to the team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im sure I posted two months before the end of the season that Ronaldo's improved performances was because he wanted out. Glad I was right, you guys remember because instead of whinging and rolling about he would actually chase back and defend.

Anyway, think this is a good signing for the other 2,3 Big4 teams. Can't see you getting a player, or two, who can have the same impact as him. And also all the prices are going to be ridiculous now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 at you being so stupid

Gerrard just isn't a player on that level. His best is Ronaldo and Messi just "Doing enough" He doesn't have the ability of the other two, if he didn't score 20 goals a season then the comparision would be laughed at. Torres on the other hand I could see where your coming from, if he gives you lot a memorable season while winning something.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Everyone stay calm and trust in fergie

who remembers the last time we sold a high profile name to real madrid ofcourse im reffering to David Beckham.. fergie brought in a unkown name ronaldo and every1 was saying wot the hell is wrong with him.. few years later he became the worlds best.. wotever fergie is doing he has a plan and we have to trust in him

If anyone needs something amusing to cheer themselves up:

NANI has told Manchester United fans he can step into Cristiano Ronaldo's shoes.

The winger failed to make a major impact for United last season but is now praying boss Alex Ferguson will give him the chance to showcase his talents.

Nani said: "I can have more opportunities. Cristiano was very important but now I think I can show my value.

"Cristiano's departure is not impossible to fix."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Give him a chance at least. Maybe he can.

As mentioned in another thread, we never buy the big stars so I can't see us getting Ribery or Villa, etc. Bentzema maybe as he's still young (we could use the Tevez money for that one).
To be honest I can see either Valencia (overpriced) or how about Oba Martins from Newcastle? Not been mentioned anywhere but he can play a similar role to Ronaldo and he's just as fast. Strong as an ox, too, and we could probably get him for £7 Million or so. That would still leave us a tidy amount to get a strong midfielder.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think another thing people are overlooking is the slant of Ronaldo's tracking back will be gone meaning the team will be more balanced allowing a 4-4-2. I think Nani will probably be given Ronaldo's position actually. I think Ljajic will get the #7 in January. Benzema or Aguero on the way :DD

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Who's Ljajic?

I'd personally love if you blow 60M on Ribery.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Adem Ljajić

We signed him with Tosic, though he is staying on loan at Partizan until January. I haven't seem him play, though I assume he's nicknamed 'Little Kaka' for a reason.

I wonder if he can play for us for any pre-season matches?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

As amusing as Nani's comments were, I still think he has the potential to be one of the better wingers in the Prem. His ability to beat a man, and more important get in telling crosses are there, it's just his decision making that lets him down. He also puts in a shift and will track back. I don't expect nor want him to score 20+ goals, but if he can get 15/20 assists (delivers great corners) I think that'll do.

I'm beginning to wonder if Fergie is taking this on as a challenge - first he comes back from 2005 and wins the league three times, now he sells his 'one man' team moniker...now he continues to compete without replacing him?

Ribery isn't worth more than £30m. He's not that good, just the best that's available. No way would his incremental value over say, valencia, be that much. Bayern just signed him, they have no need to sell. Leave him there.

If we come second in the league behind Liverpool next year, can we make the argument that it's because our net spend is less?

Apparently that's because he always goes for a nr. 2 at half time.

Sure! :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

TBH BeachRyan I would say Ribery is worth around 40M. He's more like Ronaldo from 06/07, Will beat his marker constantly(Lot more than Ronaldo does these days). I think he would get us 20 odd assists and chip in with double figure goals IMO.

I think Ljajic will be big, just the noises from people who have seen him say he's something special. With Ronaldo we need to replace his goals more than him really. I think everyone already at the club will chip in with a few more, Rooney will the main man know and will need to step up a level.

Apparantly we've bidded for Valencia :(( Please no, With Ronaldo gone we don't need the extra work rate (I can see why Tevez wasn't neccessary know). Apparantly were in talks to get Alexis Sanchez which would be "midget" Ronaldo from 03.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good luck solving the biggest problem in the EPL :-)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Alexis Sanchez is no where near a top class winger imo. He's quick and has good technique.... but there are much better wingers than him out there. The guy has no strength and gets knocked off the ball easily. He doesn't really start either for Udinese. Simone Pepe imo is much better than him.

Platini Slams Madrid's 'Excessive' Pursuit Of Ronaldo

The president of UEFA, Michael Platini, often critical of the manner in which sides from the Premier League recklessly throw wages and transfer fees around Europe, has slammed Spanish side Real Madrid for following suit.

The Primera Division runners-up have spent close to €165 million on just two players: Brazilian attacker Kaka and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Platini believes this contradicts the idea of "fair play".

The administrator, himself regarded as one of the finest footballers during his playing days with Juventus and France, told AFP, "These excessive transfers are happening almost every day."

Platini is keen to address the fiscal environment of European football and is keen to adopt a socialist policy to continental competition by creating a level economic playing field.

"These transfers are a serious challenge to the idea of fair play and the concept of financial balance in our competitions

"UEFA is working hard with clubs to set up a new set of rules as soon as it is possible to clean up the system and give it a more solid, more transparent base.

"That is our top priority today," he concluded.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Realistically,we should get Antonio Valencia now after Wigan revealed that they have accepted an offer for the Ecuadorian.I like him, quite powerful in going forward...should be a good addition to our squad.
