I'm sorry TikTik but no way should Rooney have gone for that. He didn't even kick him. Did you see the Stoke game? Delap deliberately kicked out Boa Morte while they were on the grond, connected just undre his thigh, and only got a yellow. Then in the Barcelona match, Messi SHOVED the referee. Put both handso n him and shoved. I can only imagine the crucifition that would have happened had that been Ronaldo. lead story in every paper in the counry.
My anger towards MOTD is that they had a special segment on United's dodgy decisions, in a game that had none. First they show the goal. Smugly Hansen says could have been a foul by Macheda before Giggsy's goal. I watched the game live, and thought it was too in real time. But in the replays, you see what actually happens is the boro guy steps onto Kiko's foot. Last time I checked with the benefit of a replay, being kickedi sn't a foul. The the Aliadiere 'penalty shout' which no one mentioned at the time. Not even Sky at half time, nor the palyer himself, nor his manager, nor the crowd. It's like they had to dig and dig and dig to try to find something dodgy. And finally the 'handball' which was deflected at pace by Tuncay about 2 feet from Vidic, which completely changed the directino of the ball and went straiht into Vidic's hand. 100% not a penalty. But they have the nerve to show it twice, in slow motion, then have ex-professioanl's discuss it. I'm sorry but if that was any other game, it would have never NEVER made the highlight reel. And that includes Liverpool.
This just wouldn't happen in North American sports. It's like people in the UK would rather their team lost on a dodgy penalty so they have something to whine about later, rather than have their team win. I was watching the Celtics v Bulls playoffs, in the last second of overtime one ofth Celtic players slapped the Bulls player in the face, split his lip wide open. So he had to step up, in the playoffs, bleeding from his face and try to make a free throw to keep his team in the game. No sub allowed, no lengthy treatment. And he missed. And you know what he and his coach said afterwards? That it's just part of the game. My lord that's refreshing.
