Manchester United Thread

thats from the section "in the papers" or whatever its called though. its not official or anything, someone from manutd.com just took all the united news from the papers lately and put it on the site.

Edwin is a world class keeper,no two ways about that but his time is nearly up...He is prone to clangers every now and then...latest was against villa for Agbonlahor's goal.If you lot can see the replay...Edwin made a feeble attempt to catch the ball, with the sun in his eyes...and he was wayyy off target with that one...shows that even his reading of crosses have been reduced. He could last this season but I'm not sure he will be our number one once next season starts.

No TV channels picked up the rights to show the game today? Thought Shitenta would have at least picked up the rights!

Its a 3pm kickoff so not in the UK.

We can't have all our matches televised, there are other teams in the division! Saying that, most of our games from now til the end of the season are on TV I think.

but iirc Utd Sunderland games have always been televised non?

Van Der Sar, Evra and Ronaldo have all been rested for todays match. I know the Porto match match is coming up in midweek but shouldnt our priority be the league in this moment and time?

MACHEDA! The boy done good now do we have Liverpool fans' permission to rave about him as he's the next best talent to break into the first team!

Not worth a wank that one, but I'm going to bed happy. Maybe I'll wake the wife up, although if I'm quick enough she might not notice.

Another get out of jail goal from the boy wonder! Everybody knew Sunderland always makes it hard for us.

Just when i spoke of the mistake Van Der Sar made against Villa for Agbonlahor's goal...Ben Foster made the exact same mistake today for that goal we conceded.Shouldnt have attempted to claw at the ball, should have stayed on his line but the boy has time on his side and will definitely learn from his mistakes.

Viva Machedaaaa...Viva Machedaaaa...Only seventeeennnn,Hes a goal machineeeee...Viva Machedaaaaa...

Not as good as last week's goal though but its the winner again nevertheless.Natural instincts of a striker to poke that foot out, again ala his reserves Boss,Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the 99 CL final. If last week,he announced his entrance to the first team, today he cemented his name in it perhaps?....Enroute to the title..C'MONNNN!!!

Kiko is the man but we played well and created enough chances to finish the game off without his lucky deflection :P

And we may be suffering with keepers at the minute but what about Petr Cech! He's been fucking terrible lately, at least 2 of Bolton's goals were his fault, he's not been the same since the head injury.

EDIT: Oh and Jonny Evans is clearly struggling with his injury, he was at fault again today for the goal which was easily preventable so I hope Rio comes back for the run in. We need him.

At first I was kinda blaming VDS for the goals we've started to leak recently but seeing Foster do the same yesterday makes me think its probably something we need to deal with mentally. People kept crediting Rio and Vidic for our brilliant defensive run that we went on but every time someone like Evans was called upon, he was able to do the job as well. So I don't think theres one strong link or a weak link in our squad (except Nani of course ;) ) so pointing fingers at someone ain't gonna help. We just need something thats gonna help our confidence and I think Porto's gonna be one of those turning points of the season. We already know we're gonna need a real performance from the boys to get through and I have a feeling it could boost our confidence in all competitions.
I really believe wednesday is the beginning of the end, whether its a happy or sad ending still remains to be seen.

No, he has a twatting arrogant look to him like Ronaldo and Cantona.

Insua is the better talent to break into the first team ;)

ruddy flukey mancs!!!!

I thought we'd pip you to the title, but we are rapidly running out of time and games, even with us probably playing the best/2nd best football in the country at the moment, and you lot just nicking wins.

I thought you'd drop points before we had to play Arsenal.

Agree with everything said there, both :) and :(

Six games left for us, this is cutting it bloody fine!

Cracking season, regardless of who wins the league :D

Well I'm setting myself up for us getting knocked out so I'm not too annoyed afterwards!

By the way, there's no such thing as after-reaction, only a reaction. :P

Back from Dubai :DD! Macheda is saving us at the moment, Scholes was awful against Sunderland, Hopefully Rio returns for Porto, Hopefully Berba can make the Porto trip aswell

Hope we see this on Wednesday

--Giggs---Carrick---Fletcher--
Evra--Vidic--Ferdinand--O'Shea

I thought Scholes was quite good against Sunderland. I have to agree with your line up against Porto but not Berbatov he was awful against Sunderland, how he gets away with just walking around the pitch and some times barely going into a jog with Fergie is beyond me. Id use Tevez much more from now until the end of the season because Berbatov is pure lazy and its players that give there all like Tevez thats needed in times like these

Berba was bought for just these kind of games, and I think he's our leading scorer in the CL. So like him or hate him, we're going to be subjected to him tomorrow night.

Interestingly, the travelling team doesn't include Fletcher according to manutd.com - though I think this is probably an oversight as I swear in an earlier photo you could seem him suited up in the background. If he's not available, have to hope that Ando is available to play in his place. Otherwise I have no idea how our midfield will cope.

Am preparing for us to get knocked out, strange feeling given the expectation of an 'easy' win (which was rubbish from the British media).

I thought Scholes was ok against Sunderland too, certainly an improvement from the fucking disgrace he was in the first leg against Porto!!

BBC have got Fletch missing from the squad too, so maybe he's picked up an injury. At least Rio's back though, he has been missed.

You're right there. Missing Rio might have been our biggest problem in recent games. Most of the goals leaked have been the kind of goals that Rio would have dealt with. Vidic is at his best in the air, but we need someone who can read the game better and we've really lacked that at the back.

I think it'll be a positive thing if/when we get knocked out, cause whilst it's nice winning the Champions League, the Premiership should always be number one in our ambitions, especially when we're fighting Liverpool for it.

The players could do with focusing on one competition and it's easier to win the league from where we are right now.

Yeah agree 100%. If we lose the league to Liverpool now after the way the season has gone it will be unbareable basically. I can take going out of the CL if it means we can put our all into the league and Fa Cup.

Sorry lads I just dont share the view of "Lets get knocked out of this so we can win this" Football is all about confidence, If we win tommorow then it will give everyone a great boost knowing were the first english team to beat Porto in their own back yard.

We can win the lot and I stick to the mentality of going for everything, yes preferabbly the PL and CL are the main 2 but that shouldnt mean we play our reserves against Everton.

Berbatov is exactly what we need tommorow, lately we've been giving the ball away far to easily and lacked composure when on the ball, he's great for both those things

No, no, no, I don't want us to get knocked out, I want us to win all 3 for sure, I just mean I'd prefer to win the league over the CL!
