Manchester United Thread

is it just me or is ibrahimovic the most over rated striker EVER, he does nothing, i dont get the hype!!! we must be favourites again to win the ch league, we were awesome last night, so composed and never under threat!! in 2 weeks time inter will get dominated again, but with a fully fit rooney, this could be a walkover if we score early!

Never under threat?

How about for the first twenty minutes of the second half where Inter had several chances and looked far hungrier in their persuit of getting a goal?

How old are you?

i just wasnt fearful of what i would call an average european side that's all. Italian sides don't strike fear into english sides anymore, look at all the results this week, all sides won apart from us, but ironically we prob played the best out of the four, isnt that strange, i guess it's just how football goes sometimes. im 24 by the way mate

we are a far better side now than the monaco days (shudder), we are more experienced and clued up in europe. Plus back in those days fergie hadnt won the ch league, since then we've won it twice! u cant really use that as an argument im afraid. Plus monaco back in those days were incredibly poor and we were tactically naive, we arent anymore!

It is a very real argument. All it takes is one mistake and they're in. I think you're being too confident. Remember the Porto game? One loose parry from Howard and it was over.

again, howard or a keeper who has been keeping clean sheets for fun, hmmm its a tricky one! howard was WANK, v der saar is the best thing since schmiechel!!

plus the officials in that porto game were a disgrace, a perfectly good goal by scholes was unfairly disallowed, then we'dve won that game, and probably won the competition from then on as the competition was poor that year!

We'll go through, Id put my house on it but Im sure it will be nervy night Lyon and Barcelona at home last season come to mind.

Howard was great first season. Van der Sar is prone to errors. He made many last season and even this he's not looked great.
Let's just say, it's on a knife egde until we go two goals up.

Ibrahimovic did not show up in the game after his sling shot talk about how he is better than Ronaldo...He is overrated,he parades and acts like a great player while our Ronaldo played like one.

I am confident we will qualify for the final 8 but one goal from them could change things and we need to focus on not letting that happen.

Lets put a lid on the CL for now because we have the Mickey Mouse Cup to win this weekend!!

Nothing is a dead cert in football.
It will be an almost completely different team playing. Plus the fact Spurs will most likely be missing their key central defenders, so it could go either way.
It would be great if we win, as our youngsters have never had the same recognition or praise as Arsenal's.

I'm tempted to predict the line up, but I'll probably get it wrong as well!

I think we're gonna lose the Carling Cup - because Fergie is going to stick with the young'uns. I'm sorry but a midfield of Gibson, Possebon and Anderson, despite all their potential, should not control a game against Modric, Jenas and Zokora.

I think it's great what SAF does in the cup, but I hate the way that when we lose, journalists will point out how clever Harry Redknapp is, and how he'll come out and say they beat the best team in the world (as he's been saying all week as an excuse of why he's playing his second string in the fr*ggin UEFA cup!). I think the line should be that yes, a team of experienced, seasoned professionals beat a bunch of kids with very little first team experience. Big shock.

Anyway, it's just the Carling Cup. I'm just hoping the twins start (no idea how bad Rafael's injury is) so that we can finally have both of them on the pitch at the same time. Imagine being given the job of marking one on a free kick :)

Well to be fair, Modric and the other two have been useless this year for the most part, so I reckon we'd be fine.

I've been really impressed with Gibson this season, reminds me of Carrick with a bit of Fletcher thrown in as well, and Anderson is good enough to affect the game properly.

We should be fine, because if anything, Spurs won't score.

I was wondering that too.
We fielded a weaker team against them in the FA Cup and beat them, and their midfield that day was Bentley, Zokora, Huddleston, Modric & Bale.
As long as Defoe is marked we should be able to shut them out...

You guys will surely lose if u play the same way as u played against Inter

Eh? If we perform like that, We'll probably end up winning 5-0

Will be a good game, Think we'll pull it off, Evans and Vidic at the back will be able to resist their attack. Andersons getting a game tonight so I expect him to make the bench on Sunday. "Gibson-Scholes" in the middle will do us fine I think. Tevez and Lil Wayne up top to cause Havoc. :))

I don't think Evans will get to play in the final. He really wants to just use pain killers to play, but i doubt Fergie will want to risk him in a Carling Cup final when we definitly need him in CL and EPL.

I'd see people who didn't play in the CL game vs Inter to play more in the final. So i won't be surprised with Rooney, Tevez, Vidic, Scholes leading the way with the youngsters.

Not sure who will play, given the injuries to the back line, and the fact that there are so many forwards who could get a look. maybe
-------------Foster------------
-Rafa--O'Snizzle-Vida--Fabio---
-------Gibson---Scholes--------
----------Anderson-------------
--Welbeck------------Nani------
-----------Tevez---------------

But that team would likely get spanked. So not ideal.

O'Shea should not play in the middle again....If anyone should replace Rio in the middle,it should be Wes Brown or Jonny Evans.

Speaking of which,I think Rio has lost a bit of pace and spring due to his back problems...During the Inter game, there was once where he wanted to control the ball and saw an oncoming attacker...he hoofed it away! I was quite surprised by that.I really think he should be rested before it aggravates anything else.

Rubbish! Brown and Evans are both injured so O'Shea is our best option. Anyway, he was awesome away at Roma last season playing centre back. Didnt he play there against Barca as well? Who else do you suggest?

Indeed V.d.Sar has always been prone to errors (who doesn't remember that Juve - Roma that costed Juve the title for example?) but when he's on form it's always difficult to get the ball past him. I really wish he could keep a clean sheet again in the 2nd leg against In*€r..

I know you can do it!! :APPLAUD:

Rafael ruled out for a month with an ankle injury, just confirmed on Sky Sports News.. feel gutted for the lad as he was playing well and close to unsurping Neville from the RB now would his twin Fabio replace him for Sunday and possibly the Inter game?
