Manchester United Thread

Tevez was awesome yesterday(apart from the miss) but as said so many times Rooney just adds so much to our team and is our most important attacking player.

Going by the ovation he got just for warming on Sunday I think most United fans would be upset if he left.
I'd love to see him stay, but if he can't get a first team place & costs as much as the media claim, it might be best if he goes to another top side, just not Chelsea or Madrid(!).

I think we should 100% keep Tevez. I honestly believe if we sign him up for 5 years, and he knows that is our position, he'll come good. He's not perfect, but he's settled, loyal and talented, with lots of room to improve. Plus it means we won't have to bed a new striker.

I think if we have the money, we should do it. Not £32m, but I say offer like £15m or so on top of what we've paid and call it a day.

I'm sure if it was as easy as that then the deal would have been done by now. The way we need to be looking at this is that Tevez is still a young player, very loyal, and most importantly very patient. Very rarely do you find a top striker, or even a top player who is willing to sit on the bench if he's asked to. We say we want 4 good strikers in the team but its never gonna happen if we had 4 Berbatovs or 4 Drogbas even. We need someone like Tevez. Just like Fletcher and O'Shea have done for us.

Yeah but Fletch/O'Shea won't cost £30m. :(

Will be good to see Manucho get some games at Hull City. They don't have great strikers (Cousins, Fuller) so he should at least be on the bench. Give him time to see if he can cut it in the prem, and if not, well, I dunno, sell him to Sunderland. Still think he could give us a useful option (big tall springy guy) for certain games.

yeah but o'shea and fletcher arent strikers and arent near the quality of tevez. he'd be worth 30m if he was playing every week (and probably scoring too).

fuller plays for stoke; they have king, geovanni and cousin. fagan too but he doesnt really count.

Damn, poor knowledge from me, apologies re: fuller. Knew I'd seen him somewhere...

Okay, so I don't think he'd display King, and Geovanni plays behind the striker, so I can see him getting games. Good stuff.

Spanish newspapers say that Tevez (and Ribery) offered themselves to Barcelona (most likely their agents did) so how is it going to be? Tevez in : Manchester/Real Madrid/Barcelona?

I think we're just refusing to be held to ransom by Kia, I mean come on, Tevez ain't worth another £20m on top of what we've supposedly paid already. Fergie's hoping that he can wait and get him for a reasonable price or he'll have to lose him.

Thats not the point. I'm saying that a world class player who's loyal and willing to do what's right for the team is worth a lot more than their market value. How many top players in the world do you know who are willing to be third choice in their position?
We better wrap up this deal before we regret it.

He also has that "United player" feel about him...could be a great if we was a regular but I doubt it now.

He will be for the next few weeks anyway.

We're gonna struggle to get anything today. I'd like to see a battling midfield.

maybe

----------van der sar-----------
neville - vidic - evans - o'shea
------------carrick-------------
park -- fletcher -- Anderson/Giggs
---------<-----Ronaldo-->-------
------------Berbatov------------

We're Back where we belong lads. That result will look crucial if we go on and win it now.Bolton was expected to make it hard for us and they did.We pushed them on both half and finally were rewarded.

I just love how Tevez got his head down after that lucky break and crossed without even looking where Berbatov was...thats pure instincts of a class player for you...cant teach that to a player.

1 nil merchants? We'd take it all the way to the end of May if we have to!

I thought we were gonna draw then. We kept pushing but not getting very far until right at the end. About Tevez, I dont think it was pure instinct, he knew exactly where The Berb was cos he looked just before he pushed wide. Anyway, another average performance but 3 points none the less.

We may be 1-0 merchants but it's a lot better than 0-0 draw specialists like our Scouse friends ;)

Great result today, top of the league with a game in hand....

we also = chelsea record of 10 clean sheets,

which is fecking brill considering we've hardly had our 1st choice back 4...

so its over to mad rafa and his band of merry dippers...

c'mon everton!

When United won the league in the past 2 seasons you could sense some real competition for it, however this season for some reason feels differant. I feel if United get the bit between their teeth like they have been doing it could really be plain sailing in the end.
