Manchester United Thread

That would be a pay-per-view innit,Vidic vs Drogba...although the Ivorian wouldnt last 3 rounds.

Its Celtic tonight, although the papers are predicting an easy win for us...It will be a difficult game. Its the Battle of Britain at Old Trafford.

2 nil to United!!!

We played some nice stuff last night but celtic were ahite...

and i mean really shite!

possibly the worst team ive seen at that level!

if we cant beat that shower in glasgow then i dont know what!

Big weekend. Potential for us to end up 4 points back with a game in hand, or end up 9 points adrift. We're obviously coming into some form, but we're still weak in central mid, and Ronaldo still has a long way to go to being back to his best. Everton are a bit of a caged animal - have been awful at Goodison - and I don't think this is a great time to play them. Plus we're bound to be a bit fatigued (Giggs and Fletch in particular) so I'm not too confident.

That said, Rooney should be up for it and if he gets one early, look out. If he doesn't it'll be a good test of his restraint that has started creeping into matches lately. You can bet the toffees fans won't be too welcoming :(

Anyone know if it's on tv anywhere? I've never heard of a 12 oclock game!

What do you think of Real's sudden uninterest in Ronaldo? Tricks? A good one if it is (even if it's not!)

ME thinks the game is on Shitenta in England me thinks otherwise the midday kick off is uncalled for as they only change the kick offs for TV purposes!

Not worried myself, we've got Ronaldo desperate to try and get his form back and we've got Rooney who is on course to do a "Ronaldo" at this rate :))

I mean you dont think it will further affect Ronaldo's performances?

Come on...these players are professionals. They are all competing in the same team for places. Its a team effort...if one player wants to be better than the best player there is...that would sound just great to me...
I think Ronaldo would have to step it up because Rooney and Berba are grabbing all the headlines now.

I've said this before, and even though he's scored a few now, Berbatov is still hurting United's dynamic in attack. Most of the time he just stands there, looking lost. Rooney coming out instead of him was a big mistake, unless Sir Alex was afraid Rooney could get a 2nd yellow card.

What a terrific game of football that was.
Everton were the better team in the second half.
The subs made didnt make any difference.
We got away with a few close calls.
Tevez should have been given more time.
Ronaldo should have been dropped.
Fletcher was quality in the middle yet again.
In the end it was a fair result.
Hope Chelski and Pool cancel out each other tmrw too.

@ Phrase - is that written in iambic pentametre? :)

I can't work out why we came out in the second half wanting to play long ball football, after possession had worked so well for us. We have a habit of doing that. I don't think Edwin has found his target since Rooney's goal at Newcastle 2 years ago. I don't blame his kicking, I blame whoever it is telling him to hoof it. We're not good at it, how hard is that? If we'd stuck to passing it around, we would have won today.

Energy levels play a huge part in that. Passing around requires a lot more energy than playing direct, even more so if you press as much as United do.

that always seem to happen to people.. what`s that called again? ahhh! yes... Karma! There`s a proper way of doing things and a wrong way. :COP:

What do people think of this? I'm not really surprised it came to this after his recent performances and Madrid saying they no longer want him.
I'm interested to see how this affects his motivation from now on.
Yeah that was the front page of a Madrid journal, he is saying that he won't leave ManU and seems like Madrid are slowly accepting he won't play for them what he played for ManU. He would never do what big names did, Figo was expensive but worth it, Zidane was really expensive but worth every single peso, Ronaldo the same as figo, Ronaldo would just disappoint the first season and, like Henry, could start to progress from the second one. But thats all speculation, for now his and ManUs decision is for him to stay in Manchester.

I think he's just saying this to try and get the fans back on his side, I still think Real want him and he wants to go even though I think he is happy here.

I know it's a bit of a moot point considering how much we've spent, but how on Earth are we back in a situation like 2005 with a Giggs/Fletcher midfield? We quite understandably lost our way in the league that year, but what could we expect. Love Giggs but despit emoments of quality he's not a CMF.

Odds of losing Scholes, Carrick and Hargreaves at once? Sigh. Want to see more of Anderson, at least he can put in moer than a 45 minute shift.

Cmon? Giggs was immense on Saturday and Fletcher has been brilliant all season, I dont think that was the problem, the issue was we got complacent which im sure will be addressed by SAF.

I think some of us are being a bit harsh on Ron but he has only himself to blame for us not believing a word he says these days, I think the main reason he seems unhappy is he's off form.
