Manchester United Thread

It was a good win nonetheless, contraversial or not. They parked their bus and we were patient enough to poke and probe all game.It gets kinda frustrating at times when teams come to OT and deploy that tactic but hey,its us they are playing against.

We did just about enough in the first half to wear them down but the introduction of Rooney and Scholes was were we really picked up the tempo.

I'm happy for Rooney, not just for his masterclass goal but for breaking his duck for this season. We all know what he is capable of and its only a matter of time. Some still argue that he should be scoring regularly but stats showing a total of 78 goals since he joined us was anything but ordinary.Thats an average of 19 goals in every season for four seasons! Cop that!

Dimi Berbatov got a good outing today, stepping up his play with every game. His laboured style may not look suitable to our fast paced game but he very much reminds me of Le King Cantona.Quiet and drifts silently and then bang...a lazer thru pass or suddenly finding space. He needs to incorporate his play into his team mates and vice versa.Today,Tevez didnt compliment Berbatov enough but when Rooney came on,the burly Bulgarian suddenly looked more lively.Should be our first choice pairing those two.

Good win again...a win with that game in hand should bring us 3 points closer to the top.Cheers.

I think bad refereeing has always gone on, but the fact we can see virtually every incident almost immediately again and from six differing angles in super slow mo, has changed the game... We need technology to back up referees not just condemn them...

Let's move on from the Styles error now Champions League game Tuesday against AaB Aalborg Utd will also be wearing the 3rd Blue Kit as well since it was confirmed in the matchday programe on Saturday I feel if Berba plays he could get his first goal

Predictions?

not with the likes of Blatter's and Platini's. Not to mention the International Football Association Board almighty all-knowing group of elderly wise men.
I just noticed those dinosaurs don't even have their own website. http://www.google.pt/search?hl=pt-P...ernational+football+association+board&spell=1

Tuesday should be an example of our 'senior' or 'European' line up IMO. I think (hope?) Hargo was rested for this, and we'll see:

----------vds---------
-Gary--Rio---Vida-Evra-
----Hargo-----Scholes-
--------Fletcher------
--Ronaldo------Rooney-
---------Berba--------

With a view to bring on Giggsy and Ando/Tevez as needed.
We're always crap away from home in Europe, so I don't expect much :(

Yep I think theres a good chance of us playing that. I'd Prefer this though

----------------Van-Der-Sar-----
Brown---Ferdinand--Vidic---Evra
--------Fletcher--Scholes-Giggs
-Ronaldo------Rooney--------
----------Berbatov-----------

:))

EDIT: Just confirmed Hargo is out again due to a recurrence of his last injury and Neville is out.

Can't believe Hargo is out again. Ridiculous. Bayern must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Thinking he may just have to play through his tendonitis, if he wants a career! :(

Wasnt the best choice really, We needed someone like Mascherano, I hope in the summer we put in a cheeky bid in for De Rossi but i doubt Roma would sell.

okay the tendonitis problem is far from ideal but it will clear up,

hopefully like last year he'll be fit coming into the run in (where he played a vital part...

mascherano would have never scored the freekick against arsenal!

and going of his pen in the 1/4 final de rossi wouldnt have bagged a oen in CL final either!

tendonitis is (together with pubalgia) the hardest non-traumatic injury to get rid of. both of em (tendonitis and pubalgia) may allow u to play most of the times (even though the pain must be tough) but they seriously compromise your mobility.
kakà and ibra wasted both 6 months last season, coz of tendonitis... from jannuary on they were pretty much awful on the pitch.

@ Van: if i remember well, de rossi bagged a pen in a world cup final :-pp
and however, leaving this aside, there's no comparing owen to daniele. hargreaves is a very nice player. a very complete midfielder who proved to be extremely effective in ferguson's gameplan.......
but daniele is just on a different class.... under any point of view (personality, vision, passing, dribbling, marking, covering, shooting, heading.... he's on another planet).

anyway this is just "pub-talking" as, YoungGun, i don't think Ferguson would ever go on de rossi, having spent so much money on carrick and hargreaves, in the last few years (and roma would never sell him btw);))

how serious is this tendonitis, btw? is it just an inflammation or is there a broken tendon? and wich tendon are we talking about?

I'm hoping we'll absolutely batter Aalborg tonight but they can't be underestimated. Nearly beat Celtic at Parkhead and aren't a pushover at any stretch.

6 goals wouldn't be bad though, we did it at Brondby in 99. Or was that 5?

Halftime.

I really really think Berbatov is hurting United and should not be starting. He hasn't gelled with the team, and that hurts the offensive dynamic. Tevez should play instead.

Berba just needs time, he didnt have a proper preseason and just needs a few more games to settle in to the rhythm of the team.

Rafael is looking good tonight, very confident coming forward, possibly suspect when it comes to defending but that will come with experience.

I wish Nani would just fuck off, he's useless. He never plays the easy option, he's always trying to beat his man too many times before wellying his cross to nobody or shooting miles over the bar. He's seriously pissing me off. The worst thing is he looked good the first few months of last season and since then he's being absolutely, shockingly bad.

I disliked watching you guys play, you just looked like 11 big named players on the pitch against a 3rd division team. Like that you won't revalidate any of the titles you won last season.

We were pretty rubbish tonight. Scholes' injury was big for us and I can't believe it didn't get a yellow. Not that it would really make me feel better, but still such a piss thing to do, fall, lose the ball so kick out.

Any team that hasn't been able to play their XI consistently is going to look off until they have time to gel. We had moments of real class mixed with a lot of crap. Nani in particular was a liability and would have been subbed if not for 3 injuries. Plus Berba and Ronaldo barely had a preseason so couldn't run the 90.

We'll start kicking into gear soon, I'm sure of it :) And when we do it, should be rather pleasing on the eyes methinks...

Its the Champions League. There are no rubbish team in it.The way you see it is totally rubbish.Revalidate?? You mean when we play against smaller teams this year dosent justify that we are worthy champions of england and europe last year?? Thats just not right man...
