Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Man utd tv is the most annoying thing I have ever seen though.

dont know what you mean Paddy Crerand is the best football commentator EVER!!

A united player could decapitate an opposing player (on purpose) and paddy would still say it was no foul!!

thats what makes it great tv!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Real Madrid TV is terrible too, so biased it's unbelievable.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I have a feeling Ronaldos recovery will be a long one, with him doing some personal appearances and good old charity stuff in the hope the first time he steps out is not so roundly booed...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

He's given himself a nice save, any of you read the full interview on manutd.com.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Isn't that how it's suposed to work.
It's their channel!

When it's other channels then that's really annoying.

Around here it's almost unbearable to listen to the commentators on TVI and SIC. A goal from benfica seems like a maradona type goal, and when somebody scores against Porto is the goal of the year. meh...

EDIT: Anyway, this Ronaldo saga is over but around here people didn't even cared. He lost some of it's popularity around here when he considered himself a slave.

You gotta love the guy. He's the only reason I used to watch that channel. Its great how someone as old as him can support our team like he's a 10 year old kid.

I'd be very careful about calling Paddy old, especially if there's any golf clubs nearby, he was a serious hard bastard back then and i dont think he's mellowed with age. Top man though and it shows what effect being a red can have on a player, came from Celtic but still to this day considers himself a united man.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised to know that Sir Alex still values Louis Saha and yet expect to sign one more striker.Says so much about the man.I'd work my socks off, give 110% and bleed for the shirt if he was my manager.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Spanish press says United made a 25 million € bid for David Silva from Valencia.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Didn't they also say they'd signed Ronaldo?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Maybe they got the "David" and "Valencia" bit right but maybe it wasnt Silva ;))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Well, after a quick though about it, here is my take:

Barcelona is supposed to be interested in David Silva, so maybe Madrid papers are saying United is interested just to mess with Barcelona...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

i dont think silve or villa are man utd type of players.
honestly dont think we need any more additions , ron will be back very soon.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Well SAF said he's lookinhg at the 3-4 options..

and he hopes to have someone in by next week...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Yep, Balague is the one thats started the Silva rumour aswell (http://www.guillembalague.com/rumores_desp.php?id=51) so with that IMO its BS as whatever he comes out with never happens such as us signing Quaremsa, Torres, Ronaldo leaving, all which turned out wrong.

Extremely glad SAF has said he's bringing in a CF by next week and even better that he has from what we now 4 options to choose from...taking a guess at it myself would think probably the following

1. Berbatov
2. Huntelaar
3. Eto'o
4. Villa

Pretty optimistic with that list i admit but the top 2 are probably part of the 4 but 3 and 4 are more unlikely.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

@ Young Gun: Spot on with your list - i think that's exactly it. And it should get sorted next week :)

---------VDS----------
-Wes--Rio---Vidic-Evra-
----Carrick-Scholes---
-Ronaldo-Rooney-Tevez-
--------Berba----------

!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I like many here would be extremely satisfied with either Berbatov or Jan Huntelaar.

Dimitar Berbatov has settled well in the Premiership and loves to play beautiful football. Can score bags of all types of goals, link up play and holds the ball up pretty well.A top targetman too.Downside is,he isnt exactly young and has a reputation to sulk if things arent going his way.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar was Eredivisie's top scorer in the 2005–06 season with 33 goals in 31 games. He also became the top scorer in the 2007–08 season with 33 goals in 34 appearances. He is prolific to say the least and is a natural heir to Ruud Van Nistlerooy's starting place in the Dutch NT.He is described as a smart forward by his peers, the kind that defenders should not take their eyes off even for a few seconds in a match. At 24 years of age,he can offer at least a good 8-10 years more in football.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I've got a feeling that in typical SAF fashion he's gonna bring in someone we dont expect...

reports from OT suggest the club is fed up with spurs/berbatov...

1 - that he's gonna cost too much with little sell on value..

2- certain people at the club feel he's not too good when the chips are down and his attitude is pretty poor...

The other strikers that have been mentioned are all quality, but unproven in the Prem, and could take a season to settle..

this doesnt fit in with SAF's plans of retaining both Prem and CL...

so that leaves room for an iconic type figure to both inspire the current crop of young players at the club and to add a touch of class to the playing side...

Could that player be..

Tierry Henry???

There have been links a couple of times this summer..

at the end of last season Pep said he wants Henry to stay as the club was offloading Deco, Ronnie and Eto..

and today Barca today confirmed that Pep now wants Eto to stay...

Maybe leaving the door open for Henry, if United will pay £10-15mill...

Of course I could be million miles off the mark...

But SAF has got previous in trying to bring in players over 30 to add that liitle extra..

Di Canio a few years back..

Larsson two years ago...

Del Piero last season...

rooney, ronaldo, tevez, henry...

Doesnt look too bad that!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Well .... here we go again! New season, can't wait!

C'mon Pompey! ;))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

If Henry could get any where near back to his best and play with some real dedication I would welcome him with open arms

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

As much as I like Henry, but I don't really want to see him in a United shirt. To me he's an Arsenal iconic figure and should stay that way. Something to do with respect.

Don't mind having Drogba though :-pp

Well he played on the wing for Barca last year and still finished top scorer..

also mail on sunday reckons the injuries he suffered during the end of his arsenal career are behind him..

the fact he played for arsenal dont matter to me...

i dont have the same dislike for the goons as I do for the kopshite and to a lesser extent chelsea...

i never thought i'd have seen smudge in a united, so anything can happen!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I cant believe how desperate mardid are getting...

for the "biggest club in the world", they've spit their dummies out big time!

reports from spain are that they are gonna sue Christiano £17mill for not joining them...

but not if he gurantees he will join next year...

pathetic!

I reckon he'll have a new deal at united by xmas and will stay for at least 2-3 years..
