Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'd love to be proved wrong but the faith we're putting in Manucho baffles me. He's 25, completely unproven aside from a good showing at the ACN and is currently crocked with a metatarsal. And has no work permit. I wasn't able to see any of his games in Greece, perhaps someone can point towards overall performance?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Apparently doing well is not enough to secure a british work permit for next season.Nothing official yet but I hope it will all be sorted out for the fella.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'm not overly worried about Manucho to be honest.
I hope Frazier Campbell and / or Danny Welbeck get a chance though...

Is anyone else starting to think we won't be making any signings?
The Community Shield is next weekend (I have tickets :DD) and our squad is usually finalised by then...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

i dont think you need to, must clubs have been quiet, even we have bought poorly imo, so probaly the same as last year although chelsea may trouble you again.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I am feeling a little disappointed by now but we still have 2 weeks to go.I still firmly believes Sir Alex will get who he wants and feels will improve the team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised we've not done any business yet this summer, really feel Fergie knows we need a center forward, with his commetns on Rooney and Plan B...all indicates a Berba/KJH esque type, but nothing to date.

Then again, if Spurs sign Arshavin and Pavyluchenko, they'll have to sell. And out of interest, even though they've sold a lot o fplayers, would that be a record amount of spending?
Modric, Dos Santos, Arshavin, Bentley, Pavyluchenko, Gomes, and I'm sure I've missed one or two...seems close to £75m worth no?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

This has got to be the slowest transfer window in recent years.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I think we (Chelsea) are in the same boat. We really need to clear out some players and bring in new blood but it all looks very, very quiet.

The Ronaldo deal is what is holding the market up. A lot of cash and players may or may not get freed up on the back of that deal. If you were to examine it, I'd say at leaat 15 major transfers may depend on what happens to that one deal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Jamesy... Did youget a letter printed on Football365?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

In more ways than one...this is the most boring transfer window ever for United.Rumours have it that we are keeping deals under wraps, shunting away from publicity. The only leaked news was Sir Alex claiming that we will make at most 2 transfers in this window...and as we all know, nothing has happened yet.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

To be honest the Ronaldo deal is dead in the water now from what i can see, Real would have bidded by now. Im actually suprised that Villa have managed to keep Barry aswell, as Chelsea have chosen to not let Lampard go either, I think with so many teams spending in recent years it feels really wierd with little change going on apart from Spurs and Barcelona i can't think of any other clubs who have bought big.

I'm not sure that's the case. If Ronaldo wanted to stay and Man Utd wanted him to stay, no bid would be good enough. However, if Ronaldo were to come out and say he wants to leave, then Man Utd need to balance the value of a bid vs. keeping an unhappy Ronaldo.

I think most people would say that by his words and actions, he wants to leave. The only thing that's missing is confirmation. Without that statement, Real have no bargaining power and will do nothing.

If people believed Ronaldo was happy in Manchester I'm sure we would have seen much more transfer activity - but they don't. Everyone is waiting for this deal to free up their own transfer targets. It may drag on for too long that teams start working on Plan B, but it looks to me that Planet Football is expecting him to move to Madrid.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

As long as we don't do badly - ie crash out of the CL very early on, or lose 5 games out of the first 10 - and Madrid storm their league then Ronaldo has nothing to be unhappy about.
Hopefully Madrid don't do too well and he's glad he didn't leave...;))

Not guilty mate - I only changed my username this morning so probably be someone else...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I think what SAF is doing most managers are backing him up especially when Wenger comes out and defends SAF stances. Most players try to leave and discontinuing their contract agreement. If Manutd are successful they give clubs more power so I`m sure behind close doors SAF if being supported by a lot more than we think even in other countries. IMO it`s not about Ronaldo vs SAF it`s more media, agents, cunt stirrers vs Clubs

Sorry mate but your wrong in some ways, Everyone knows Ronaldo wants to play for Real but also he isn't too fussed if he stays, This has already been clarified when SAF met the player in Lisbon and confirmed that he's staying.

It doesn't matter if he wants to leave mate, the club have already took a stance on the matter an thats it, pretty identical to the Lampard situation yet instead Lampard will go for free next summer while Ronaldo still has 4 years on his contract. If Chelsea can keep a unhappy Lampard who is going to end up leaving for free im sure we can keep a hold of a player who is happy at United but wouldnt say no to Real either.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Sitting in the stands for a season is one thing but this is a 4 year contract we're talking about. One he signed just a year ago. Lampard could just not play another game for Chelsea and move to Inter next season but I dont think Ronaldo will want to wait 4 years for his move. If I were him, I would use these 4 years to screw my head back on and realise how much of a prick I've been.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Apparently he's said he'll just return to Manchester and demand a move, with the situation being non-negotiable for United.

This is Spanish press I'm quoting though so obviously it's not true...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Its AS mate, which stands for "Absolute Bullshit". The way i see it is Ronaldo isn't unhappy at United but i think he also wouldnt mind a move to Real which is his dream club. Ronaldo has always said "one day" and the feeling i get is after winning everything here maybe he's been questionend from his family etc of "why not now?".

I think Ronaldo summed it up a while ago when he talked to those Brazillian tabloids when he said "If Real pay United what they say they will and pay me what i want il go" which sums it up. Ronaldo won't sit in the stands for 4 seasons thats not the situation as Ronaldo and SAF are on good terms apparantly. the most likely outcome is....

(A) Ronaldo is forced to stay for one more season as we prepare for his departure

(B) We force him to stay as long as SAF is at the club.

(C) Ronaldo is sold this summer to Madrid.

I think C is far more likely than the other two.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

i honestly don't think Ronaldo will leave this summer....i'm sure he will leave eventually (and probably when SAF is retired). but as of this summer...he won't leave and he can't leave....

Ronaldo leaving for Madrid will send a statement to the whole world that clubs no longer have power to retain their players and players can opt out of contracts just by power of the media.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

He's not gonna be anywhere near fit till the end of September or the beginning of October though, so there's no way he's gonna pass a medical before then,So I can't see Real's investors gambling £75m on a signing without some sort of medical.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Exactly, The only reason this saga is still being discussed is cause it hasnt come from the horses mouth and even if it did it probably wouldnt stop Real from posting crap in AS and Marca anyway. Ronaldo isn't going to say he's staying but it goes the same for the opposite he isnt going to say he's leaving.
