Manchester United Thread

:DD I cant see us starting with a trio of Tevez, Ron and Roon. he hasnt done it before. if all 3 are to start it will be in a 4-4-2. dunno how you missed out Park from the 18, he's been immense. at mininmum he'll be on the bench.

I forgot about him - oops! I'd swap him for Fletcher then.

The thing is, do we treat this as a European game, or a league game?
"The Holy Trinity" have been vital when playing together. You can't fault 'Jason' Park's work rate, but for me Tevez's link up play is better, and he's a bit tougher to knock off the ball.

I'd expect Chelsea to play like this:
---------------Cech
Essien Carvalho Terry A.Cole
---------Makelele Mikel
-----Ballack Lampard J.Cole
--------------Drogba

I think our biggest problem is where to play Ronaldo. If he plays on the right, Ashley Cole usually does a good job of keeping him quiet. Up front he can expose Terry's lack of pace, but then you lose his wingplay.

I'd like to see Anderson start, but that might unsettle the Carrick & Scholes balance. Do you go for hustle & bustle, or clinical passing?

Looks like Moscow are actually prepared for the fans compared to Manchester. A couple of hundred portaloos in the fanzone compared with the 30 Manchester provided.

Sir Alex will field his best team against Chelsea or rather a team that will nullify them.I have noticed that he likes to have a mobile/harrasing midfield when ever we play Chelsea or Arsenal.Given that Scholes will start...the other two spots will go to Anderson and Carrick perhaps. We will definitely go with a 4-3-3 with Park,Rooney and Ronaldo upfront.Expect Tevez and Hargreaves to come in midway thru the game. Its a historic night to behold.

If we play well and stick to our tasks...everything MOSCOW our way!!!....C'MONNNN UNITEDDDD!!!!

Exactly, theres choices we have to make, I think we should play him inbetween both as a 3 upfront but on the right as my formation was. Still see us starting Park. I know this probably will cost us but i can see us being cautious and when put on the back foot Park can make the midfield a 4 leaving Ronny and Roon still uptop, while Tevez has just as much energy he might give away silly fouls etc.

Not sure about Carrick as I feel he is sometimes a little docile. Fletcher has been pretty good in the big games.

I'll be watching it in a bar in Okayama. About 15 miles from here and it starts at 3.45am. Hopefully there'll be lots of people there but I might be on my own.

if we went for passing it would be Carrick Hargreaves Scholes if we went for hustle them then probably Anderson instead of Owen.

Yeah its a tenner in, doors open at 17:30 you have to book and they will stop going on sale from 12:00 tomorrow.

The main question is who will be haggling with Essien, it has to be Hargreaves... or Anderson?

He'll go for an interchanging 4-5-1/4-3-3 thing.

Ronaldo and Rooney on the wings, with Tevez up front, but Ronaldo and Rooney will settle back if Chelsea have the ball, or perhaps Tevez will settle back and Ronaldo will stay up front.

I'd like to see Anderson and Hargreaves, but I don't see it happening.

Scholes is already starting.

I'd love for us to have a go, but we just won't, which is frustrating.

Completely agree! they were to powerful for us in the middle at the bridge, Owen and Anderson can help out in that area also Anderson is very quick and that can be used through the middle to make space for the front 3 which could be great, he can go on mazy runs which can be lethal with our attack. yet as you said we wont go for it and try and be cautious :(

Anderson is very quick

A lot of people don't realise how quick Hargreaves is.
I remember reading earlier in the season that he's our quickest player over 10 metres.
The 2 of them in midfield, with Scholes in front would do for me. Won't happen though...

We are going to need to go at Chelsea more in this game if we have any chance of winning. At the bridge we had 1 striker and then 5 in midfield ans we let Chelsea pile on presure from all angles. We simply can't let them do that in this game. Let's get Tevez and Rooney starting, simple 4-4-2. We are much more used to that system and who knows we could surprise Chlesea that way, they probably expect us to go for the 4-5-1.

Come On United!!

may the best team win & btw a little late but congrats on winning the league was relocating thus the delay!! Good show!!

I think we shall start with a sort of 4-2-4 formation scholes and carrick in the middle will just sit there and stop everything and the front 4 of rooney, tevez, ronaldo, and park (giggs or nani) and the front 4 wil just roam around everywhere we have done it this season and defences hate it anyway CMON UNITED make us proud :redscarf::redscarf::redscarf:

Nearly right, Nani for Saha.

Ji-Sung Park? :tumble:

Why no Park?

Quite unfair bot being there considering he has been instrumental on previous CL games.

Well good luck for you all.

Have no real preference TBH.
