Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ole "The Legend" Retires!!
Anelka didn't pull up any trees at Citeh and he has been nothing more than reasonable at Bolton.
Bolton were best under big sam when Davies was up front and they had Stellios and Diouf wide and Anelka didn't play.
If he was so good at Citeh why did they have no problem in getting rid of him?
What did Anelka do in Madrid, why didn't they want to keep him?
How about Liverpool, why did they not want him?
Important questions...
But forget the above and everything I have said in this mail which you could generally debate or question.
it didn't do any harm to city or Bolton
Highly questionable logic IMHO.
Why?
You are comparing Citeh and Bolton to Manchester United.
The two aforementioned clubs could afford a sulky Anelka who underperformed from time to time because as long as overall he did enough then that would mean they could get some points.
Man Utd play to many big games under the microscope, too many big games where you simply can't go missing.
The pressure, responsibility, expectation etc is much higher.
Also Man Utd's requirements are not the same as that of Bolton or Citeh etc...
Look at how many balls are played across the box from Giggs, Ronaldo...how many there will be from Nani, Evra Neville etc..Anelka is poor in the air. In fact that is why big Sam prefered to play a very average Davies ahead of him in the team most of the time.
Here is another question, what will Anelka do if he is stuck on the bench or not playing?
If you think he is right then each to is own....I think you could do better.
I understand teams of less influence, leverage, money, power etc being interested in Anelka, I get that but I think your club should be aiming higher.
Anelka has too much baggage, he is not the right player and he cannot be trusted....IMHO.
-
I never once talked about his career choices, i said that earlier in his career he was lazy and didn't have his act together
.
I know.
I was making my own points about Anelka, I presume I am allowed to do that In a two way conversation?
- I never have referred to him as being loyal, he blatantly isn't.
.
So why do you want him, especially important in the week that Solskjaer has retired as that shows how important a commodity loyalty is. Again I can understand clubs with less power, influence and money buying players who are disloyal on a wing and a prayer, we were trying to do it with Manuel Fernandes, I just don’t think Man Utd are in the same position, I think you can do better and not have to accept disloyal players for the sake of needing a player.
-
I only want him for a couple of seasons
.
And what guarantees that the crap doesn’t hit the fan when it suits Anelka or his crazy brother before that duration? I mean Anelka if dropped for Saha could throw a hissy fit and want to go and he is quite capable of such insanities at any time. You talk as though he would automatically be a model pro for you for a couple of years and only then lose the plot when it suits you and Man Utd. The history of Anelka shows that he does things unexpectedly when it suits him and his chuckle brother of an agent not anyone else/club.
-
Look at Anelka since 2002, two and a half years at city, played very well, gave lots and he scored many goals in his time there. He was also one of the very few world class players in a pretty shit team. City got decent money for him (that they needed) and were happy for him to move on
.
You are not on the same level as either team.
Why has Anelka failed at all big clubs- bar his early years at Arsenal?
Remember he was not even loyal to Wenger or France.
Anelka was happy to play and put on a show when it suited at Citeh….fine for citeh…not for you IMHO.
-
then he went to bolton, again gave a lot, finished top scorer (11) with not much service.
.
I don’t agree about the lack of service at Bolton. Again ask yourself why big sam preferred Davies up front.
-
- He's been honest with manager and chairman and said he wants to play champions league football. Even with all this speculation he's still performing and putting in the work rate.
.
Don’t mistake stating what you want for honesty or loyalty etc. I can tell my girlfriend that I would like B jobs off of Kiera Knightly, doesn’t necessarily make me honest or loyal does it?
As for still performing and putting in the work rate….sorry but I find that V funny.
Anelka is utterly selfish, the whole reason he is performing at present, the reason that him and Diouf put in marvelous performances at the weekend is because they have no loyalty and want to leave the club. They were putting themselves in the shop window.
What you should be asking yourself is, if Anelka can play like he did last week, why doesn’t he play like that week in week out?
Why?
Because Nicolas Anelka does what suits Nicolas Anelka- and no one else.
-
I'm not arsed if you can't trust him. Football has moved on, you can't trust the vast majority of footballers to be loyal anymore, most of them are mercinaries.
.
Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Giggs,…..I could name half of your team and a lot of other teams too.
The thing is that there are differing degrees of loyalty or the lack of it and you absolutely DO need some loyalty, if you lack it entirely and are one end of the spectrum then it simply doesn’t work.
Example….
Rooney was disloyal to Everton because of his ambitions, but he still has loyalty each time he get on the pitch as he gives his all in each game.
Anelka is only loyal to what feel right for Anelka on the day and that changes like the direction of the wind.
The reason you had to let Van Nistelrooy go was because he wasn’t pulling his weight any more. Anelka is a thousand times worse.
- he's 31 now, i'd be happy with him for a couple of seasons then he can fuck off to the MLS, in the meantime we've got two seasons to find someone
.
He will not be a happy camper until it suits you, only until it suits him and that culd be one week, one moth or two years like you want, trouble is you have no idea how long and he comes at a high price both monetarily with no sell on fee at his age and in terms of the what he can cost your club in lost moral and switching off in major games because it doesn’t feel like a night that Nicolas feels like playing too much.
But I think your last remark captures the situation best..
In the meantime you NEED someone….that is panic buying and never a reason to sign a player.
You have lots of options.
All this is only my opinion and I grant you I could be wrong and you right, but I wanted to openly tell you how I felt.
