Was he really that impressive? watched nani in the under21's and didn't think he was a step above anyone else on the pitch. But Anderson's competing at senior level, and is only 19...bodes well? Any more details - played whole game? what position?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

From what i saw of Anderson yesterday he seems as though the transition to the prem wont be as hard for him as it will for Nani. Only 19 but his strength and balance is what impressed me especially as these attributes will be vital in the prem. We already know hes got the talent.
Nani on the other hand seems a bit lightweight as did Ronaldo in his first season so i expect him to come to the fore more in the future.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I wouldn't have called Peru v Uruguay and Bolivia vs Venezuela attractive football to be honest...

awww man that bolivia game was back and forth back and forth it was awesome! to be honest they play alot better then england! :) but that aint saying much

nani plays with the senior team as well, scored a cracker against belgium, anderson reminds me of rooney with this low center of gravity

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Anderson plays a bit stronger then Denilson, they play similar I think

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

So the ever-reputable source of info, the Sun, claim a trade plus lil cash for Owen with Smith heading to Newcastle. Not sure how I feel about the thought of Owen. In theory he should get loads of service and therefore loads of goals. But he's also a bit small, and will demand a first team place. Then again, if it turns out we pay virtually nothing and he does get back to his best, well then it'll be a good piece of business indeed.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

We should get him and then keep the little cunt in the reserves so he'll never beat Charlton's record. That's all he's interested in.

A blind dog kicking a ball around would be better than England ;)

@ Owen

all I can say is, give him a chance. Fit = Goals, it's that simple. He just needs a good run in the team to get his confidence back, and with the amount of chances we create, he could end up being on fire. One thought though, because we play so fast, he's gonna have to sprint, which could end up meaning our style of play could injure him again

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I will only accept Owen as a United player if he comes in for free.As many have said lots of times before here,we already have a better prospect in Rossi.Great news for this week,Anderson has just been granted a work permit to play in England. The brasilian starlet will join up with the guys as soon as Copa America ends.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

1 injury prone player is bad enough but 2 ?

haha nah i was just kidding . Wouldn't mind him at all . Just hope he doesn't break anymore bones.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Can you imagine the shit Owen'd get every time he had a bad game?

That is one of the main reason that I was thinkin about.Another scouse in the team?? Come on..

He would have a lot to do to win us over,in my opinion.

How about another lil midget,Jermaine Defoe....now that superstar striker Darrent Bent has gone over to Spurs, Lil Defoe might just move on...It might just be me but I'd pick Defoe over Owen now.

I feel its someone local or a yet unsigned big name forward for us...either that or never.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Why trade Smith when we could give away Saha instead? Saha is a lot more similar to Owen than Smith is.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

4m for Owen???? I would be happy as its not big risk. Hes clearly put muscle on so a good pre season will do him good. Also i think Rooney wouldnt mind either to be honest

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

If we do trade Smith for Owen, we better replace Saha too cuz we dont want two players who injure themselves as often as those two.
I bet they'd never get a game together.

Those two injuries Owen got were just pure bad luck

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Plus all the injuries when he was at Liverpool. He is injury prone.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Players who got speed as their main strength will always be injury proned.Unless they are really fit from scratch.Hamstrings and knee injuries are the main culprit.Given the right mentality and discipline...Injuries can be totally cured.Best example was Ryan Giggs and his dodgy hamstring.Seems to be gone now as Giggsy himself trace down to the very root of his problem and took care of it.From the seat position in his car to the very shoes he is wearing.

Wow. Never saw this coming. Not sure what to say either.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Yeah,me too...So I guess 8 is going to Hargreaves then, more fitting for a central midfielder than a forward.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

well I must say I did think he'd deserved it more than anyone else.

anyway, yeah somehow i think a trading owen for saha is less of a risk . but I'm still not sure if newcastle or in fact any club would take that risk.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Newcastle let him go before he was injury prone, so I doubt they'd want him.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

So Rooney number 10, quite dampens the speculation of a new striker dont it.

Quite true...Anyone else thinks that we are done spending after Anderson,Nani and Hargreaves...please include me now.About 50 goals between Rooney and Ronaldo last season plus a lot more coming from the rest of the team.I guess that has been the major factor in not signing a forward....Might still happen though if either Smith of Saha goes out.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Let's see how Dong and Rossi do in pre-season. Give them both a chance.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It doesn't mean we won't buy a new striker at all. It just shows that whoever we buy won't be as good as Rooney.

Solskjaer 20
Yorke 19
Cole 17 (when he first came)
