Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Quagliarella is nowadays "the new man of the italian football".
he's a complete fwd, he can play as striker and as sp as he's very, very technical.

he constantly improved in the past few years, but this season he really was a crack!
he scored 13 goals in 35 matches, wich is a very good result as novellino (samp coach) often placed him as a side midfielder or wing.

actually i love him, but i think it's still to early to say is a great player. he's heading in the right direction, but it's still young and just one great season isn't enough to judge a player.

1 last thing: he always scores spectacular goals. of course it doesn't matter, but it looks like he can score just amazing goals. just try to type "quagliarella" on youtube and u'll see what i'm talking about.....

here in italy all the newspapers talked about manu interest for him, so this could be a something more than a pure speculation.
right now he's co owned by udinese and samp.

.... no need to say i hope he'll stay in italy

this is a little bio:

EDIT: sorry Milanista... u were faster than me

the more I watch him the more I rate him...

United is a good move for a young player like him, especially with other more experienced young playes like Rooney/Ronaldo to show him the way...

I'm trying to think of an Italian player to ever play at United so it would be interesting, especially with Lippi coming out of retirement to succeed SAF wink wink.....

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Watched Nani last night in the U-21 Championships and although he didnt do much there was a certain Dutch player who caught my eye and probably many others named Drenthe. He played on the left wing mainly but also shifted to the right and centre. He was strong, quick, great dribbling ability and a great cross on him. Definitely in my opinion a player United should have a look at.

lol , i thought he looked like edgar davids.

i wouldn't mind him at united :D

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

There's a rumour going around that Everton might be signing Richardson & Brown soon.
Now, Richardson, I'd drive him there myself(!), but not sure if Wes should be allowed to go - what do you guys reckon?

@Vann: we currently have an Italian (Rossi), so if we are after Quagliarella it might be an incentive to have someone who can speak the same language as him?

I do like Brown, he's a good defender just been unlucky with injuries, dont think it'd be good to lose Brown, Pique and Heinze, defeats the object of beefing the squad up....

doh!! Cant believe I forgot Rossi, apparently he's wanted by Porto on loan....

rossi is actually american by birth... he speaks english as well as anyone on manu. His parents are both italians, he moved away from new jersey, USA when he was 14...

are you saying rossi only speak 1 language? because he refuses to play on the USA team which are 9pts and favor to win the Gold cup

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Show me someone of Italian heritage that actually considers themselves a true American. Of course he wants to play for Italy.

Sorry, couldnt find anyone. Can I interest you in a Canadian who thinks he's English?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Quagliarella would be good for shirt sales at least... all those letters. I'm sure they have a few 'Q's around.
I don't think we'll get him though.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

i think brown can stay .. you never know when you need a backup defender . richardson , i think he should be allowed to leave as it doesnt look like he'll ever make the first team regularly .

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Wesley Brown is one of my favourite players and I think he is genuinely United through and through.Always dependable when called upon.He might make a mistake or two but its normal if you are not always in the first eleven. He was solid when Rio and Vidic was out of it though.Keep Brown, slag off Richardson.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

What do you lot think about the Pique-Gudjohnsen reports? I really think its a no brainer and should be resolved as soon as Barca play their last game tonight.Gudjohnsen is class and he is proven in the Premiership. His experience and finishing skills are still top notch.Sir Alex were looking at him before he moved to Barca but it was easy for Guddy to chose Barca over United. He says he wants to come back and Pique says he wants to stay in Spain, simple.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

always loved gudjohnsen.

he can hold up the ball well.

for 8million, its a good deal not too risky.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It could be good, though I've always seen him as a supporting striker - a bit like Rooney.
Maybe a loan deal would work - that way we can look at a few younger strikers for a bit longer, and Pique gets to stay in Spain for a while (as I can't see him breaking into the first team for another season or 2)

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I didnt watch the match but apparently Nani scored a goal and was then injured.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Gudjohnsen is a class player, although I know his form hasnt been the best lately. He's been missing quite a few chances recently, although his overall football has remained at a very high standard.

Would be an excellent signing.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

So basically, if anything happens between England and Portugal again, United will have to fold.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Not if Sir Alex is still around.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

We probably won't meet for a long time the way England are playing.
