Manchester United Thread

It always does, Surely they are smart enough to know that.

Anyway, might aswell put a bet on a dire 1-0 win for Manu in a couple of weeks :(

I feel sorry for you, guys. UEFA wants their sweet team to win so there is not much to do. I'm with Man Utd right now even I think it's a waste of time watch the final.

So then, lineup for the final guys?

VDS
O'Shea - Rio - Vidic - Evra
Park - Carrick - Anderson - Rooney
Tevez - Ronaldo

With Rooney joining in up front when we attack maybe?

Maybe Giggs in for Tevez. And Wes Brown could see a run of games now that he's fit (right?) so it's possible he could be in that lineup. Not taking anything away from O'Shea though.

Don't tell bullshit. The referee was bad. But Alves got booked for nothing, Essien and Bosingwa didn't get a card in the first half even if they were hunting Iniesta the whole pitch and finally he sent off Abidal when nothing happened (in the same play, Drogba kicks Pique when he jumps but of course the ref didn't see it and you neither).

That said, the ref could have whistled penalty in the Pique hands towards the end and there was another play in which I think Abidal could have done penalty to Drogba.

BUT, if Chelsea players weren't so pathetic and didn't DIVE like madmen, that wouldn't happen. A lot of people from England criticizes latin players for diving, specially Messi, when in fact is people like Drogba who does such terrible performances that makes things difficult. What a cheater he is. He tried to cheat in almost every play! He was more time on the floor than standing! At the end eveyone has what he deserves.

And finally, you could also blame Hiddink. Winning 1-0 at your stadium, the other team with 10 players and he retires a forward and puts a defender to hold for 20 minutes? That's what I call bravery! If Chelsea had played to win the last 20 minutes, I assure you they would have scored one or two more goals. They had the match won and they decided to defend with 9 men inside the area. I really can't understand how they let us play there in the last minutes. Really.

And finally, both teams deserved to got to the final overall in my opinion. Both were superior at their stadium and both could have won. Better luck next year.

To all Man Utd fans, hope to see a good match in Rome, no injuries and no bad refering. Reaching a final is always special. Hope you enjoy it with us, you are the best team we could face.

He didn't put a defender on to hold. He put Belletti in for an injured Drogba to play right mid, which Drogba had been switching with Anelka.

Disgraceful human being? Its not like he's raped anyone!

He dives and cheats (and swears a lot) that's all. Plenty of others are just as bad.

I think we'll go with

VDS
O'Shea - Rio - Vidic - Evra
Carrick - Anderson - Giggs
Park - Ronaldo - Rooney

I can't imagine Giggs playing his usual game, he'll probably be told to do Fletcher's job and hope his experience guides us through the 90+ minutes. Have Anderson just behind the forwards and bring on Tevez as a sub when needed. Or maybe even sub him for Giggs instead and have O'Shea tuck in a bit to keep it tighter at the back while Anderson, Tevez, Park (who can be subbed for Berba), Rooney and Ronaldo all attack.
Thats how I'd do it anyway. But none of us ever seem to get it right.

Well Barcelona it is, I enjoyed that, Chelsea were unlucky but if your a football fan then you've got the "Dream Final" I just hope the match can live up to the hype, Best two sides in the world with the best 2 players in the world. Can't wait!

Think you got the team spot on Rune. unless SAF decides Tevez for Park instead.

Onwards to Rome now and I'm really glad we got Barca. At least we will be guaranteed of fantastic attacking football in the final. We all know,Chelsea will go with 'robotic' football just to win their first final.

What are the chances that United will do the exact same like they did in the semis last year?

I'd take it. I just hope that the football is the main talking point and not refereeing decisions like both semis.

I don't think United will defend like they did in the two-legged affair. Too risky. I do think we'll play counter-attacking, but that is far and away the most effective thing you can do against Barcelona.

All I hope is that Ronaldo realises that people say he didn't show up in his big matches against Kaka, and this is his opportunity to show the world what he can do.

In 2006/07 Kaka won world footballer of the year based solely on good semi final and final performances in the CL, and his reputation as the existing world player of the year. He won over Ronaldo, who had been utterly dominant in his domestic league, had better stats, and was having a better year.

Will in 2008/09 we have Ronaldo win in the exact same circumstances of Messi?

Doubt it.

Somehow, I'm glad Barca reached the final. In my opinion Chelsea would have been a much tougher team to handle.

As good as Barcelona may be, they just don't know how to adapt to opponents. While teams like Chelsea or United can change their game when needed, Barca can only do what they do best: attack no matter what the team they face. And I think SAF will no doubt take advantage of this.

I expect a solid defensive performance from United with a lot of counter-attacks.
My guess is we'll have a team similar to this:

Ronaldo

Rooney - Anderson - Giggs - Carrick - Park

Evra - Vidic - Ferdinand - O'Shea

Though I'm happy United will face Barcelona in the final, I feel Chelsea were cheated yesterday. The ref was an absolute disgrace. If I were a Chelsea fan I'd be so pissed right now. I hope it won't be the same in Rome.

A final is different from semis mate...semis is more tactical, played over two legs...a final is just one give-it-all game.

I'd take it with a tounge in cheek because it will mean that we will RETAIN the CL Cup...which no team has ever done before....But being Manchester United...I dont believe we will literally defend to win it again...

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you there. Every Milan goal in the CL that year derived from a Kaka action or he was the scorer. That season, he was Milan. Along with Seedorf's awesome form.

Just recieved an e-mail from MUFC over the allocation of tickets. I currently hold a league season ticket and joined the cup scheme. father's company hold 2 executive factilities tickets and, they've been told if they renew their execs for next season they'll be guarranteed two match tickets for the final! So I'm going :D But It just shows how the Glazers have money on their mind and are not bothered about real fans!

We'll play the same way we did against Arsenal at the Emirates, If you think thats defensive then yes if not then no. I agree about facing Barcelona is in a way more straight forward then Chelsea.

If we were facing Chelsea they'd be a lot of "How are they going to play? How will Hiddink go about it?" but with Barca we know what were gonna get, there going to play their game and we all right know could name their line up barring their defence. So I think SAF will prefer that factor.

Looks like were still trying to see if Fletcher is going to make the final. I think were looking at it more know as he would be less needed against Chelsea than Barcelona.

I hope Ronaldo and Messi both have great games, but I have a feeling its going to be one of those were both be pretty anonymous with other players being the star men (Rooney/Iniesta)

So you're saying you're not a real fan?

 it does sound that way but I am a real fan. I've handed in my application for a final ticket on my league season ticket but I'm not holding much hope. I mean I got my Moscow final ticket last year off those two exec tickets even tho I hardly use those seats at home games as they are based in the Quadrants and I sit in the lower tier of the South Stand. I'm gonna claim a ticket for a real fan before the fucking bloody prawn sandwich brigade get it!

No doubt Utd's section in Rome will be crawling with Corporates!

As much as I want Ronaldo to shine and prove once and for all he does it in big games, I'd much rather see Rooney take all the plaudits and have one of those games where he affects everything we do.

I never feel like Rooney gets the ratings and the applause that he so clearly deserves, he's just possibly my favourite player right now.

Its just the way both players play. Rooney plays for the team while Ronaldo actually tries to be the hero. No wonder he takes all the penalties and freekicks.

To be fair to Ronaldo he takes both cause he's the best at them but yeh Rooney is more giving to doing the "dirty work" and Ronaldo is always their to take advantage, it works well so there's no need to change that. Rooney has been our best attacking player this season IMO.
