How about one that shows Fabregas diving to get Fletcher sent off. Watch his face as he watches the ball going away from him and then goes down with an anguished look on his face.

I don't think he dived but it definitely wasn't a penalty. I think Fletch's momentum takes Fabregas's legs out after he knocks the ball away.

Come on you can't really say much. The free kick that Ronaldo scored he went down like he had been shot to get it. Vidic going down like his face had just been hit by mike Tyson when we were threatening your area. There were a couple more aswell.

The ref made a mistake for the pen I would say - but he was giving you guys alot at the beggining of the match. The ref last week wasn't giving you guys anything when you were (mainly Ronaldo) was diving last week and that ref was brilliant.

I didn't want to say anything about those incidents because it sounds like sour grapes. Thats why I didn't mention it in the Arsenal thread. You beat us convincingly, but when somebody gets the Arseache because of Fabregas going down for the penalty - I had to mention it :DD

Yeah, I'm pissed off about the sending off, but I'd be more pissed off with the ref if I was an Arsenal fan.

The amount of free kicks we got for nothing was rediculous.

Does anyone know what was going on in the stands? I saw something going on with a steward at the start of the match and then right after half time that whole section was empty and they had some dogs looking for something.

Although Fletcher did touch the ball first, Fabregas got both legs clipped. Check it out @ 0:11. If he wasn't brought down he could have probably still shot on goal as the ball wasn't cleared.

It hardly changes anything of course. But to say it was a dive is too much...

The ref must have interpreted it as a last man foul. I think the sending off was a harsh decision though.

I wonder if Park will feature in the final this year, especially given the fact he missed last years. He certainly deserves it.

what was the reason last year? the korean media was outraged given his contribution to the final. hopefully he'll feature this time!

Thought the dog was looking for Theo Walcott, have they found him yet? or is he still in Paddy's pocket?

Yeah, Walcott was really disappointing. I still think he has amazing potential, but was overawed last night. Stopped looking for the ball after 20 minutes and rightly subbed off.

Having had hte night to reflect, I think United should be really proud of the performance. Arsenal are a great team, one of the best in Europe and we utterly dominated them over 2 legs. Demonstrated a maturity I've never really seen United have in Europe. Perhaps that's because they were Arsenal, and familiar, but I prefer to hope that we're growing up as a team, showing the swagger that our continental European competitors have shown over the years.

That said there's now no doubt in my mind that Arsenal will beat us in the league. So we have to win the derby and at Wigan...

I really think it was a clear penalty. Fletcher goes for the ball too agressively, and while he touches the ball, he does so by pushing Cesc before doing so (at that speed, it is a serious contact to begin with) and tackling him during and after touching the ball. Touching the ball doesn't always mean it's not a foul.

In my opinion, it was a penalty and judging by the referee's angle of vision, it was even more clear. To me Fletcher is the one who does the mistake. Winning 3-0 there was no need to tackle the player, the goal would do practically no damage to his squad, yet he risked everything and lost everything at the end.

Even if you manage to touch the ball, if your action ends up in a foul, IT IS a foul, and you have to take into account that you see the action in slow motion, because in real time the tackle is more violent than it seems.

Saying Cesc dives in my opinion is ridiculous.

That said, I really hope we beat Chelsea today, it would be fair and a good thing for football IMO (I liket teams that always play offensive), and then meet Man utd in the final. It would be the best possible final and one of the best in this competition's history.

Edit: By the way, Cesc did an atrocious match, just as Walcott and Adebayor. I really thing Park and Rooney were as much key players even if it was Ronaldo who claimed all the glory. Particularly, I really love how Rooney is able to hold the ball, run, pass, shoot, press, fight and be a permanent threat in every match I see. His determination and regularity are just awesome.

They have to, don't they? Was one of the reasons I thought Chelsea would beat us last season in the CL. 3 on the trot is very hard in football, so keeping that going Liverpool winning the league is the most likely outcome :D

Eh? It will be a repeat of Barca-Che but then Ronaldo and Rooney scoring on the counter. Tbh I'm kinda hoping for a repeat of last seasons match, thought that was really good but this time with Hiddink winning the CL. Although I want Barca to win it, I dont think they will.

We're on a high right now. Do you reckon you're likely to pick up more points in the remaining games than we will? I honestly don't know. Everywhere you hear how the pressure is on us yet people forget that Liverpool can win all their remaining games but draw one and its all over.

who's saying fabregas dived? :LMAO:

Yeah no way did Fabregas dive, he gets taken down by Fletch. No one would argue otherwise. The only possible reason to send him off if you think he DID touch the ball was if you thought Cesc was going to get to it easily, which I don't really buy, and definitely wasn't 100%. Almost every last ditch tackle in football involves the defender clipping the ball and then taking out the player. Football is a contact sport. It's not like you have to tackle without touching your opponent.

IMO the ref didn't see Fletcher touch the ball, so had no choice. If the ref did see him touch the ball, then he got it wrong.

But you're right, either way Darren should have just let him through. Pity. Personally I think the ref should have showed some common sense. He could have given a yellow, no one would have complained. By the same token, how could Gomes not be given a read for the penalty against Spurs? Any difference? Nope. Both wrong. Both last man. One red, one yellow.

That's what's wrong with refereeing.

cesc didnt dive at all, but neither did ronaldo on his free kick wonder goal, van rapist clearley deadlegs him in the hamstring, that doesnt fell good. And if there is any idiots out there who still think ronaldo doesnt come up in big games, then i dont know what to say to them, he is clutch

Nope, but I still have hope. (Some classic poetry there for you all to enjoy!) I think teams' performances are directly linked to the Managers mouth. It seems everytime a manager goes off saying How wonderful they will be (Arsene), How they are 13 games away from legendary status (Houllier) or How the pressure will get to them (Rafa) the opposite happens. That's why Im hoping Rafa will STFU about you lot losing under pressure as so far the opposite has happend.

ah...the secret to winning the league, at last. just STFU! :D and do the double over your nearest rivals and only lose 2 games so far this season.

To be frank, we have put in an almighty effort, and yes we are punching above our weight again. I still believe its possible, but if you lot beat City I think I will finally accept it.

You may joke, but how often do we hear Fergie proclaiming how his team will perform? He doesn't single out opposition players negatively either.

I've cracked it!

Yeah it probably does play apart. It's about keeping your own house in order and not leaving yourself open for critisism etc.

yeah like rafa did with chelsea last year in the champs league, totally backfired
