he did play shit, he just scored a couple goals lol. without him we wouldnt have won and im grateful for it, but lets not pretend that he had a great game or anything.
 
But like they said on MOTD2, just like teams as a whole, being able to score without having a good game performance wise is a sign of a great player.
 
i suppose you're right but i mean how long has it been since we've seen him at his best? the desire just doesnt seem to be the same anymore.
 
Did anyone see the goal on Sky Sports?
Watched the highlights yesterday (was at OT on Sunday) and cracked up at Martin Tyler when Macheda scored. Not the best time to have a voice malfunction!
 
Dirk Kuyt has scored important goals for us, doesn't make him a great player or that he had a great game when he scored either. Can't agree with scoring meaning you had a great game.
 
Ronaldo looked like he actually cared this time. He kept on going and eventually scored the crucial equalising goal, even going on a 60 yard run at the end to eat up some time. I thought he had a good game.
 
Thats true what Abou said...He actually whined abit,got up and got going after loosing balance with be ball before scoring his second.Well the whining is still there but I'd do the same if I got too many fouls gone against me in just too many matches.At least he is learning and Sir Alex will be sure to point out that goal to him.
 
Anyone else think Ronaldo is going to light it up tonight? Hasn't scored many in the CL this year (relative to last year) and this will be as good a chance as he's going to get imo. Plus despite being bratty on Sunday, he also had a couple massive dribbles, which we've not seen for a while. I expect us to pepper the goal with long range shots, and Park to be sniffing around for tap ins...

I just really hope Porto show up to play football, not dive/cheat/waste time/feign injury/cheat some more. Hate to generalise, but Portuguese teams have been disgusting at OT. I remember when we went down to that Geovanni deflected strike, it was like the 35th minute and there was probably another 15 minutes of open play in the remaining 55 mins. It was farcical. Anyone know who the ref is?
 
I think Rooney will be our player of the game tonight, got a feeling that hes gonna give a season performance.
 
Keep your eyes at Hulk. He is a true beast, powerful and fast, surely he will make damage in counter attacks. It's also important to keep the ball away from Lucho, all Porto's action pass to the argentinian player. The attack with Lisandro, Rodriguez and Hulk is the strongest line of Porto. Midfield is also important with such class players as Lucho, Meireles and Fernando. Defence isn't too good, Cissokho and Sapunaru must show us more football and quality. You should try long range shoots. Helton sometimes makes mistakes.
 
@ Special one - yeah I'm a bit fearful of Hulk, he's getting faster and faster, and with Vida, Evan and O'Shea back there, we don't have loads of defensive pace (not even talking about Carrick and Scholes, they're even slower!)

I'm hoping United will dominate and control, and not let Porto break too often. Definitely an example where the best form of defence will be attack :)
 
I heard Hulk is a bit like Ronaldo (obviously not our one). I've only seen a few clips of him playing so I'm hoping to get a decent look at him tonight, although I don't want him to do any damage.
 
Surely Hulk will try many many times one to one against O'Shea (definately your worst defender, sorry guys but is true). Portuguese football experts compare Hulk to Adriano (Inter). I don't be afraid because of one player. Porto is more than Hulk. Meireles, for example, is a key player in Jesualdo Ferreira squad. He is a box-to-box and we always forget how important is his actions. Lucho, a world class player, is the mind of the team.
Anyway, you are the favourites. If your atack will be good today, less ou nothing Porto can do.

Well "good luck" guys. Hoping for a loss but moreso an entertaining game whatever the outcome. After all tommorow we'll have a total borefest so atleast one good game this week would be nice :D

They showed up and outplayed you lot in the first half, you're very lucky to be 1-1 at halftime.
 
Yeah what the hell has happend to scholes?! I know he's too slow for the prem but even without being under pressure his passing has been crap. Shame youre still in this as a 0-3 scoreline wouldnt have been harsh imo.
 
Lucky to get away with a draw. Hulk, Rodriguez and Lopez caused our defence problems all night. Lucho and Meireles pulled the strings in midfield and Sapunaru and Cissokho supported their attacks throughout the whole match. If we play like this in Porto, we're going to need a minor miracle to stop us from going out.
 
Yeah, they were great and we were awful. Where the fuck has our confidence gone? Scholes, Evra, Carrick to name 3 are playing like fucking sunday league players. Absolutely unbelievable how bad we are. They were carving us up time and time again. Credit to them, they deserved the draw, maybe more. I just dont get whats wrong with us.

Absolutely, and I'll suck this up as they were definitely the better side in the first half. Thought we dominated the second half without actually creating many chances. All credit to Porto they were immense.

Did anyone else think Hulk was trying to go the whole game without passing? Was kind of funny.

We're out of this competition because we lack a Fernando esque character. Or rather, because is ours is crocked. I don't know where this philosphy of 'defense' came from, but standing in a line on our 18 yard line waiting for them to turn, run at us, and move around while we stand still probably isn't the cleverest thing. For f*cks sake someone make a goddamn tackle!

Lucky to be at 2-2...
