hes not gonna blow by ashley cole or carlos puyol like he does chris baird or charles n'zogbia. saying hes does nothing is ridiculous, you just have to watch the games to know that.

No I'm sticking to it on this one. Most games against the big teams, he doesn't score, so he goes completely missing. Every so often they'll give the ball to him, and he'll either do one or two stepovers, then pass it back, and then that's him done for another 20 minutes or so, rinse and repeat.

And quite frankly, he has the pace and skill to blow past Puyol and Cole. You only have to look at the first match he ever played against Arsenal, when he sent Cole on his arse and then set off. He doesn't seem like he bothers doing that anymore.

yes you're right, its because he doesnt want to play well. doesnt make a difference if its world class players double marking him or some crap mid table fullback. is that actually your logic?

he does need to take people on more, i agree with that 100 percent. but saying he does nothing in big matches proves to me you dont know what you're talking about. i think you've been reading too many newspaper articles.

Could someone post that video of him against Roma again, please?
That should settle this debate.

i have a feeling that arsenal will win the champions league and fa cup, and united will win the title for sure.

fa cup final will be arsenal vs manu and it will be one of the best fa cup finals we will see for a long time.

@ Jonney - I really think Arsenal could win the CL, and would love an FA Cup match against you lot, but only as retribution for when you robbed us 4 years ago :) You know Fergie would still be smarting about that one, plus Rooney and Ronaldo haven't won an FA Cup yet...

I think we're doomed to go out to the great Mourinho curse. Somehow he consistently beats United, even when we play better, he gets that little slice of luck. Expect a soft (see Mancini last year v Roma) penalty early in the game for Inter, and us just not able to get 2 past the really quite good ceasr...

Ronaldo won it in 2004, he scored in the final. ;)

I feel that Arsenal might not win tonight however I really want us to beat Mourinho,I just a repeat of what happened against his Porto team a couple of years back.

Oh c'mon Van, against the major teams, he's completely anonymous, he gets marked out of the game. Every so often he'll pop up with a goal against one of them (or all of them last season), but on the whole he plays crap.

Any United fan saying he can't do more against them isn't watching the game properly.

in 2 and a half seasons he's banged on over 80goals FFS...

alot of those in important games, for major trophies..

and who the feck are these "major teams"?

the only big team he hasnt scored against in the league (to my mind) is lfc..

even this season he's in double figures for goals and for assists...

i'm struggling to see what more he can do..

Nope the lads even done that, scored our 2nd in our 3-0 win at OT last season.

I cant even believe this is being said after what was a class performance against Inter the other week.

i meant anfield, didnt think him scoring at OT would count....

I understand alot of supporters are still pissed at the dude, but they need to stop acting like bitches...

Good News:

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Rio Ferdinand will play against Internazionale at Old Trafford tomorrow night.

Ferdinand had been a doubt for Manchester United's Champions League encounter with Jose Mourinho's men after picking up an ankle injury at Fulham on Saturday. However, the England defender returned to training this morning and Ferguson does not expect a reaction, with John O'Shea also in line for a starting berth after shrugging off a heel problem.

"They are both fit and they will both play," said the United manager. "They both trained for the first time this morning and that was important for us."

I'm glad to see the black sheep of the family jpmanu finally banned, he actually never made any sense! I'm just hoping as History dictates that after Liverpool's impressive performance tonight they'll be utterly crap against us on Saturday but we also have a lot riding on tomorrow's game!

im still pissed at him in a way, you cant say there isnt part of you that isnt. if he leaves in a decent manner i wont hold anything against him, its just the way it looked at the time. he made the right choice in the end.

he has given us 6 years of his life after all, maybe id want a change of scenery as well who knows.

90% of that was just the media stirring shit up. It's his dream to play for Madrid someday so all was doing was leaving the door open. You can't blame him really.
I can't see him going for a few years yet. His arrogance won't want to be at the second best team. You can maybe thank Liverpool for last night in helping with that.

We always manage to f$%k up in one way or another :D

Special badge for Reds

In recognition of United's Club World Cup triumph in Japan, FIFA President Sepp Blatter will present the Reds with a special 'Champions' badge before United's clash with Internazionale on Wednesday evening.

The white emblem features an image of the Club World Cup trophy and is inscribed with the words "Manchester United Champions 2008."

It will be worn on the shirts during Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup games until the new winner is decided later this year.

Sir Alex Ferguson is immensely proud of his team's achievement in becoming the first side to win the trophy and says his players will be honoured to don the badge.

"It was an enormous honour to become the first British club to win the FIFA Club World Cup and this is a badge we will wear with great pride," he said.

"I hope we are in a position to defend the trophy in Abu Dhabi in December."

How much you'd reckon Utd would charge fans for having that imprinted on their shirts? £15 maybe? Having said that I fancy having one!

I liked Milans, are's looks pretty cheap and shite. Should have have been the same badge as Milans.

So todays the big game, Have a feeling it won't be our day you know. I didn't think all four english sides would go through. and that with the impressive Liverpool performance yesterday and Chelsea holding out Juve. I can see Arsenal being to good for Roma.

I think we need to come out the blocks like we did against Roma and get a early goal. I think Mourinho will tell his players to go all out for the goal IMO, he knows his defence is pretty fucked and with Ronaldo, Rooney and Berba we'll unlock them at some point. I think it might be a nail biting 1-0.

0-0 is very, very tricky. Tactically, Mourinho's not a patch on Ferguson, but the Inter team have a lot of quality. It will take only one goal to turn the match on it's head.

You're right Abhi.

I'm quite nervous actually. I can see us getting a goal and then struggling to score another and them getting an equaliser sometime after the 85th minute.

It will probably be like against Barcelona last season. Go a goal up and then scrape through thanks to good concentration in defence. I remember how nervy those last few minutes were against Barca. :D

@ Abhi/Jumbo - when we first got drawn against Inter I feared the Mourinho affect, and knew it would be our undoing. Call it nous, tactics, luck, mojo - whatever you want - he just has the habit of being a jammy bastard. When it happened with porto I said it was just an amazing accumulation of good fortune, but he's been so consistently lucky I just think it can't be chance.

We've not played all that well for the past few weeks, and still won a good number of games by just doing enough. I worry that won't do tonight, and we'll get picked off.

Football is a fickle beast - two losses in 3 days and our season could look a lot more fragile. But I guess that's why we love it!
