Manchester United Thread

LOL indeed mate, I was responding to hargreaves who seems to have forgotten your 6 old 1st Division titles. Another Utd fan who thinks the world began after 1993.

As for the Chelsea game it will be a draw probably. As for the title we will be there or thereabouts but I don't for one minute think we will win it. Its United's title for me.
Clock, your a decent poster who makes good points at times but I feel here you are trying to Bait me into having a go at you.

I have been a United Fan ever since I knew about football, mostly due to my dad being a Massive United fan his whole life.

I know a fair about about the pre 1980 period for United and how we got relegated.. and how an Ex United player (Dennis Law) was the man who scored the final goal to relegate us whilst playing for Man City!!

Everyone instantly assumes because im a United fan from down south that I know nothing and im a glory hunter BECAUSE of their success... that is NOT the case.

No offence intended mate just banter. I get called a glory hunter too by my mates who support Reading and Pompey but that couldn't be further from the truth. I started to support Arsenal in the early 80's, have they seen how good we were then? Yep shite.

So sorry again pal no offence was intended.

I hate the glory hunter label - it's such a lazy way to get out of a football debate. If Arsenal make your heart race and stomach turn then your are a true supporter.

Any of you lads ever cheat on your pretty bird just to watch Man United or your team play? :P

Anyway...I'm watching the game tonight...kinda excited to see how our starlets and captain Rooney perform in the Olimpico.

Are you for real or is this the famous scouse humour??

I'm fully aware that ot would be our 17th title and im proud of it! (Anyway I said Prem Title not League Title)

after winning 3 in Row and recieving a special Trophy for it..

I reckon we will get someting for the 10th as its a landmark...

and its not like everyone is saying lfc are waiting for their 19th title..

your're waiting for your 1st Prem...

so you admit that you bang on about your 'prem' titles because you can use it to slag off Liverpool fans.

I don't get it. Liverpool fans don't sing we've won the European cup 4 times and the Champions League 1 do they. So why do your club a dis-service. There is nothing special about the 'Premiership', it is exactly the same as division 1, but with obscene amounts of money and hype ploughed into it, with shitter atmospheres, corporate smooshing, fixed fixture scheldules etc the list goes on.

My comment at the end about Fernando and the boys was obviously to get a reaction with rolling smileys and outrage, and it seemed to work :D We won't win the title this year. Once we get a stadium on par with yours we might actually be on a level playing field. Considering you make double what we do every game, I think we have been doing rather well since the 'other' treble in 2001

In all honesty, do you not think that United were incredibly fourtonate (or was it just good timing) to run into a period of domination when the financial rewards suddenly increased ten fold?

I think that most true United fans would have to accept that this is a fair point.

How can United bang about Liverpool's title drought when United themselves went around 26 years without one up until 1993, strikes me as double standards.

Just my neutral opinion.

are you high??

what aload of bollocks...

this is obviously a scouse thing...

saying that, a siddy fan could have come up with sum of it..

it obviously bothers you that your not involved with our prem monopoly, lfc had the 70's & 80's, we've dominated the 90's and 00's....

get over it...

and yes its all because we've got a bigger ground/more supporters than you...

and yes the plastic treble kick started lfc on the road to greatness, coming 3rd / 4th in the league and a few cup finals every year since..

we're not worthy!!

lol your joking right...

I'd understand if both clubs we're in the same position at the same time...

but c'mon, you wouldnt do the same spurs??

Well yeah we do!! 1961 when they last won it. "you won the league in black and white" ha ha.

My point is you went 26 years without it so you can't really seriously take the piss out of Liverpool's 17 years can you?

But most of us werent alive then so yeah, we can.

The name of the competition has changed but its still called the European Cup.

The same old argument rears it boring head in this thread once a month I swear! Lets move on.

OK, I want to have a moan. I am SICK and TIRED of the small group of Roma hooligans that like to stab our supporters. Five United fans were stabbed tonight - WHY!? Because United are an English club? Why don't UEFA punish Roma? Can you imagine the repocussions (sp?) if an English club's supporters acted like this? This has happened for two years running now. God help Chelsea if they draw Roma in the next stage - it will happen again only worse because the stakes will be higher.

As for the result I am very happy with 1-1. Nice to see Pique grab another goal in the competition, he is superb from set pieces, we should have him on the bench more for league games in my opinion. We could face Celtic in the next phase too!

ffs Van, any decent knowledgable United fan can see that Liverpool ARE improving year on year. They are back up there with the cream of Europe, they have come along way since the 90's. Big players are being lured back to Anfield and baring any mishaps, we'll win finally be able to match the spending power of Manure, Arsenal, Chelsea, heck even Spurs (seem to be minted without doing anything, evne with a small stadium) and Newcastle

@runedge. EXACTLY! that is my point, only the name has changed it is still the european cup. But actually the format has changed slightly, whilst the Premiership hasn't changed from the D1 format what-so-ever, so why do you treat it as if its a seperate trophy?

And yes, I do like the "I wasn't alive then so I don't care" bollox because I get that from alot of Manure fans, and they are being dead serious when they say it

The whole point of supporting a club is that the club has so much more to it than the entirety of your lifetime. The whole point in being a football fan is taking an interest in the history of football and the events that have led up to what we have now.

You are very much a child of the 90's Rune.

Liverpool are England's most successful club and that will be the case until/if United/Arsenal/Chelsea/*insert club here* ever catch up. But I am enjoying being a United supporter more than the 80s at the moment! (I was born in 79 and started following United in 86ish)

My point was that Liverpool fans can't really sing we've won the European cup 4 times and the Champions League once cuz the CL is only the name of the competition. The cup is still called the European Cup. So you've still won 5 European Cups cuz its still called the same thing.
The Premiership on the other hand is different. The only thing that remains the same is the meaning of it, which is that its the best domestic competition you can win. The name and everything else is different.

If that was the point of being a fan, I'd read a f*ckin' book, not watch my team play. The whole point of being a fan is to associate yourself with a team so that you also feel their highs and their lows.

Peter Eyres.... give up mate and go back to your Torres Loving Thread ;) (Joke by the way!)

Time for the United Xmas songs..

On the 5th day of christmas my true love gave to me. 5 CANNNNTONNNAAAASSS!! 4 Cantonas 3 Cantonas 2 Cantonas and an ERIC CANTONA!!!

Feed the scousers!!! let them know its Christmas time!!

comming from the guy that says you can only be a fan if you attend matches... ok... ninja

I felt the kids did themselves proud with the away draw against Roma.We really looked comfortable before and after taking the lead. The makeshift backline did really well except for some nervous moments.

Amongst the kids,I thought Pique and Simpson did really well. They might well push Ferdinand/Vidic and Neville/Brown for the starting berth.

Carrick and Fletcher saw a lot of the ball and dictated the game well.

I was disappointed with Eagles. The kid definitely have skill on the ball but dosent possess any tenacity and drive at all.He looked like a passenger throught the game.Suprised he wasnt subsituted.

Nani tried too hard.Gave away possession and made the wrong decisions on numerous occasion.

Captain Rooney also tried too hard but was instrumental nonetheless.Should have scored at least.

Saha was lousy and disappointing AGAIN.End of.

Lets go to Anfield and burn the Scousers again.Wise decision by Sir Alex to take off Johnny O'Shea after the break to keep his goal scoring legs, fresh!

good god, who the f*ck argues about titles won 30 years ago... here and now gentlemen... here and now, united is the champion of england until a new one is crowned... i mean is there any argument to that?

Just found out that we can be drawn with either one of these teams: Schalke, Olympiacos, Celtic, Lyon or Fenerbahce.

Not too bad eyy? I'd like to eat the ugliest frog first.Bring on Lyon.
