Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

nice work airjoca, nice work :)
you live anywhere near the Algarve?

Lisbon, but i go to the Algarve often.

LMFAO. Whats going on in your avatar, airjoca?

It was the first game against Urawa Reds, from the footage i saw i'm not sure if Rooney just threatened to pull them down or if Ronaldo's shorts were simply tied too tightly... :D

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

my family have a house in the algarve, it's a beautifull area of the world. You're lucky you live so close!

i was meant to be there now but problems at work means i've had to postpone it.
I need some sunshine!

anyway enough of my off topic nonsense.

scholes is apparently out for 3-4 weeks but i get the feeling it will be longer.

I also unfortunately get the feeling that Gaby will end up at the dippers :(

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I believe Heinze really wants to leave which is why his cunt agent is making all these noises. Its a big disappointment really and his reason to want to be a starter in the team isnt valid at all.He is good enough and he knows that which is why I dont understand his sentiments. He is sulking just because Evra plays better and is in Sir Alex's good books. It is clear that the Gaffer dont want him to leave goin back to his earlier statement saying that he wont leave if we still want him. MERCENARY..did I spelt it right?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

We've still not heard from Gabi himself. He doesn't strike me as the type to not understand the rivalry. It could all be agent garbage..

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

When does the transfer window close?

we've heard gaby speak once on this matter a couple of days ago, i posted it a page or two back.

and i'm pretty sure that the transfer window shuts on August 31st

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

lol i dont get it heinze wants to go to liverpool for 1st team football ? last i remember isnt risse thier LB i think it would be harder getting in thier LB position than ours

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

If that doesnt make you want him more, nothing will.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

For a chap with a pug face...at least we now know that he can dance and have a good sense of fashion. Its for Cartoon Network anyway...shows that he cares a lot for the little ones.Come onboard Carlitos!!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I don't get why 'pool are getting the lawyers involved?

If we don't want to sell him, we don't have to do we?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

You don't have to sell him but HE wants to leave, if he genuinely loved you mancs he could knock all this confusion on the head and come out with a statement to back up his manager and fight to regain his place but he obviously doesn't feel the same way.

he has no competition at pool, thats the only reason he wants to go there

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

...and Mascherano and all the other Spanish speaking players, and he won't have to move house, plus he'll be able to sign on as well.

Do you quote from Heinze himself or is it just your assumption? I believe its the latter in this case.John Arne Riise is their first choice left back for many years now and they got Fabio Aurelio too if he hasnt left.Thats enough competition in my opinion. The only natural and proper leftback we got is Patrice Evra who is relatively a rookie in the Premiership and The Champions League!!

Heinze move to Liverpool and its 'reason' ---> Strange

I don't know if I'd call a CL-finalist, a champions-league rookie. :p
Not too many guys like that around even at big clubs like Man Utd. (Many of your current stars and good players haven't even had that experience yet)
So if we are to call him a CL-rookie, then what are we supposed to call guys like the man in your avatar, 'phrase'? ;)

As for being an EPL rookie, yeh I guess you can say that but then again, so many players including many successful ones are EPL rookies if you want to look at it that way as well then since they've only been there for a short time and that includes a guy who you all rate so highly nowadays I suppose in Mr. Vidic. If Evra is an EPL rookie then so is he since they came at the same time and Tevez who looks to join Man Utd fairly soon is an even bigger one! (of course I'm aware of the argument that Vidic has perhaps played more games though)

As for what Gomito is saying, I'm not sure I understand him either. :-s

If anything, competition is more fierce for a 1st place in Liverpool's LB spot. This whole "Heinze is leaving because he want 1st team football" that much of the media has presented this way, is quite confusing and sounds very fishy to me. =P~

He's always been a determined and competitive player before and I knew him from years back like when he was with PSG where not that many people outside France knew him. Not even many Argies rated him that highly at that point, I seem to remember. I'm not sure why he's acting like this all of a sudden, it's not like him.

He's not stupid either. He knows there is a Norwegian dude by the name of Riise who has cemented his place in the first team of LFC even more than Evra has with Utd and scored some cracking goals as well, making that battle for a 1st team place even harder to win than the one he has against Evra. (Of course he can play as a CB as well but then Agger and Carragher aren't push-overs either)

So it seems to me, like there is something else going on behind the scenes which hasn't been brought up to the publics attention yet but may come out months from now when this topic isn't 'hot news' anymore and forgotten about and the dust has settled, as often is the case with situations like that.
A fight/argument with another player or a bunch of players perhaps or an argument with a staff member or his agent trying to unsettle him for whatever reason or something that is bothering Gabriel about the club and its atmosphere or its location, weather (whatever, it doesn't matter) that has made him want to leave. I'm not saying it's any of those things and have no interest in speculating in what I know nothing concrete about. I'm just saying, something (which we don't know about yet and maybe only Gabriel and his agent do at this time) has made him want to leave it seems because I don't buy the whole "1st team football" excuse.

You have that competition for a 1st-team place at every big club. Hell, you have that at even semi-big clubs and medium sized clubs and in some clubs with extra and sometimes too much depth (like Inter usually), you often not only compete with one but several players for a single position in the starting 11. So it's not like, this is the first time this has happened in the history of football and he has any right to be pi$$ed off or complain about it.

Plus, I personally feel that if he was to stay and stop giving excuses and just train hard and play, he has so much quality that he could actually end up getting his 1st team place back and play at least 50% of the games for United when not injured and maybe as much as 75-85% anyway. And I can't see how, he or anyone else in that position (LB) would complain about that or think their chances of playing more than that amount would be improved by moving to Liverpool.

Therefore, methinks, something else is probably going on behind the scenes. :-k
Something that at this point perhaps, only a few club officials/staff and Gabriel and his own agent may know that hasn't been set straight or talked about in the media or communicated to the fans like yourselves.
Something that has turned Heinze off about the club and make him want to move... otherwise, his recent actions don't really make sense and are quite baffling.

I could easily be wrong but that's my 2 cents and what my mind suggest to me, could be the most likely scenario from the little honest info we have been given about this until now.

I think soon the real reason for all this fuss will come out though.... and then we'll all be more informed and have to do less guessing and speculating like I just did. :)

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I'm with you PLF - seems to me he does want to leave. Given that football probably isn't a reason, and he's looking at moving to another club so close geographically, seems to me either:
1. Personal problems with SAF or other players
2. Not happy with his wages
3. His agent is pushing him to get the big pay off while he still has 2 years on contract
4. United are pushing him for the same reason

Just doesn't seem like Gaby. I mean, he was out for a year, give or take, and we paid him quite happily to rehabilitate. The fans love him, the team seem to love him...I just don't get it.

Your well informed you are aren't you, Riise & Aurelio (when fit) are two very capable defenders and attackers for that matter but I'm of the opinion that getting Heinze will improve the defense even more than it already is. He won't walk straight in to the team like you foolishly think but he's more than capable of making the position his own plus getting a player of his quality from under your noses makes it even more of a must transfer. What was it that taggart said? Something like:

"Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze, we can put that to bed right now"

Sure nothings happened yet but he'll look like a right idiot if it does.

i honestly forgot about riise but he isnt nearly as good on the defensive side of things as heinze.. and no i dont think aurelio is a better choice. It would be down to heinze and riise and well i guess he would be in the same situation at united then! then who knows why the heck he wants to leave, probably his agent is forcing this, or as PLF said something fishy going on

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Maybe with Gonzalez & Garcia gone, Benitez is looking to move Riise up field - like a winger, and bring in a new left back.

Still don't want Heinze to go though...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Everything you said was on the dot PLF.IF Heinze finally leaves for whatever club he chooses,we might then get to hear the real reason behind his transfer. It does look a little odd.Whats with this Argies Transfer frenzy anyway.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Let him go. Keep Smith for first Liverpool match, send Smith on to see if his knee is properly healed.

Thereby eliminating future transfers between the two clubs. ;)

Joking, but still, if he doesn't realise what a tw*t he's being, and how much this means to fans, then he's just stupid. As I've always believed about United - if you don't want to be there, you won't be. I just can't wait for him to move and start talking about how he's moved the most successful English club, wiht hte most history, and the most European victories. Should be amusing..

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

2-0 so far. Nani's goal was lovely.
I don't like the look of Bardsley. It seems like he's got an attitude problem. Dong looks poor.
The shirt is horrible... the back anyway. Have they left the label on the collar? and why is there a zip at the bottom? Maybe so you don't have to pull it up when you go for a shit.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Is Bardsley #25?

Great goal by Martin, really liked him on the first half, agressive dribbling and all, the influence of Ronaldo on young english players starting to show. :)

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Martin and Carrick were top drawer, Rooney looked a bit annoyed the whole game, maybe at the fact the chinese team played to lose minimally rather than trying anything interesting.

Nani's goal was gorgeous, though it was second try in hte match. Ronaldo is like a celebraty when he comes on, it's slightly worrying. He started doing tricks and not much else.

For the future, I wasn't impressed by Gibson, Bardsley or Dong, but Martin, Simpson, Eagles and of course Nani look to be good enough to wear the admittedly ugly red shirt!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

PLF!!! I love your 2 cent bit. Reading that I `m reminded how chummy Heinze ketchup and Ronaldo are w/ Heinze really stick`in by him during the England vs. Ronaldo bit , but things changed and winning the love back and 2 follow countrymen in the squad. He feels left out. Now, Tevez who speaks Portuguese, so heinze becomes a foreigner among foreigners
