My guesses are..Nigel De Jong too.Quality player,can play in multiple positions,fullback,defensive mid,side midfielder,either side.Sir Alex has always liked utility players.
Mahamodou Diarra.Some say Lyon was willing to let go of Essien because they believe Diarra was the better player.No nonsense,hard tackler,plays simple passes,solid height and frame.Easier said,this lad is built to play in the dmf role.

Last season I was sure that we'd get Downing, since we needed a winger.

In Football Manager, I always sign Downing. He does great for me, but then again so does Fletch. :lol:

I would gladly part ex Fletcher for Downing plus pay a few million too. At this stage Darren Fletcher is so bad that I would gladly part ex him for Phil Neville. It would be nice to have someone who can put a free kick away and put a good corner in !!
Bring back Nicky Butt anyday for me. He's not done anything for Newcastle or Birmingham, but lets face it he was surrounded by toss players. Bring him back to the OT faithfull !!

Like fergie said the players he will get january are just to fill the squad, since they lack the numbers. Probably players from clubs of the middle of the table in the EPL, considering of course they are domestic targets.

For left-back couldnt we have another look at Escude? He can play both central and full-back positions. Would be a very useful addition to our squad.
For the DM position im still gona opt for Gravesen. Hard tackler, good passer, passionate and already proven in the EPL.

On a side note,both are quality players nonetheless.I'm quite surprised we didnt made more moves for Gravesen before he joined Madrid.He wouldave helped us when Keano was missing thru injury.

One of the mysterys i dont understand. We wait until their not wanted by their club and are completly shit and have oonly few years left before we get interested in them. He would have been worthwile signing if we had grabbed him from Everton few years back in the january window. He didnt even cost that much, but no thats too damn simple for fergie.
