Manchester United Thread

You can't touch a ref, so that's a correct sending off. However, there are some fouls which weren't called as the diving reputation of some go ahead of them, so when they do dive, it was a clear card. Before there were two fouls that weren't whistled. It should be either a foul or a booking for a dive. (Anywayz, I hate divers and feel that some united players really need to cut that part out).

And Valencia....both goals were from mistakes from him and I must say that while he's been poor this game, the worst player on the field for me is still Smalling. If Giroud was on from the start, it'd probably be 3 or 4 goals already from all the mistakes Smalling did.

I stood by LVG until he came out after the match and said Valencia was our best player.

He's on a wind up. This is all an immense parody of himself. Or the Premier League. Or something. It's a Dutch punked and RVP is the victim? Please?

Listening to TalkSports after the match.... Losing to The Arsenal brought out all the frustration out on MUTD. I mean from Keane to Schimiechel " it's Mutd uncharacteristic side" The fone ins from fans bashing Fellaini and putting his brute tactic snd one dimensional style is a bit harsh. I think his fouls go unnoticed like they mention 8 fouls before he gets book imo seems more of a ' speculation foul' where it seems more clumsy then antics.

I think Coq for being thin ( weaker) , he was all over the place like a terrier. He was Violating Fellaini's personal space at every moment. The diving wasn't clever the contact was so minimal they were feeling the pressure . The ref didn't have the best calls , but Arsenal don't have that diplomacy like Rooney always putting a bug in the ref's ear at every whistle the ref made. I think Smalling kept running up the pitch trying to pass the ball on the floor into an Arsenal player ,then kept getting caught off position. He was doing that regularly I say he had the hardest job on the night .

Bebo, I don't think the ref had bad calls. I thought he was impressive because he ignored the pressure and booked the players who dived blatantly and made an example of them. The Di Maria thing, well he brought it on himself.

A lesser referee would shy away from those calls against the away team for sure.

Possibly Fellaini n Bellerin got over look or say a pass. They're not the most vocally aggressive towards the official. I saw shouts go the wrong way here and there .I'm glad Wenger subbed off Hector , he must of learn that from Koeman ( their player should of saw red and was subbed off immediately) . Once, Jack vs Mutd got his 2nd yellow after a minute earlier , he received a pass . Wenger left him on and his ability to control himself was disappointing n , he received his marching orders.

I guess the ref was brave, but we haven't seen a ref fold at OT since SAF days. Those days are clearly part of their history. Mutd divers or falling unconvincingly were out of desperation in front of their fans. We did the same when we lost at the Emirates.

He shied away from sending Bellerin off - should have walked really. Wenger knew, yanked him off immediately after his second yellow offense.

Di Maria's an idiot, so is Janujaz.

The thing I find amazing is the sheer number of pundits, fans and ex-pros praising Oliver for sending nasty, foreign, MUFC Di Maria off. I challenge a fan from a single club to honestly say they've never seen one of their players reach for the refs shoulder to get his attention, or far, far worse. Rooney had his hand on Oliver's chest right before Di Maria went for his attention.

There's literally more praise for sending Di Maria off for getting his attention than there was criticism for Joe Hart accidentally head butting the same official.

Don't get me wrong, I grew up in a ref's household - I know the rules. But if I watch a single 90 minute match this weekend and not one player touches a ref at any stage, I'll be surprised.

If this is a turning point, fantastic. I expect red cards every match for players like Rooney and Terry in particular, who are constantly touching refs. But I don't believe it's a turning point. I believe a young referee got jumped up on adrenaline in a big match and made the right call, but it'll be the last one we see this season.

Bit of a difference between touching the ref and what Di Maria did tho

It was aggression

Bellerin's tackle was a bit of a grey area. Some refs show a yellow for that, others don't. It was a standing tackle and we can only guess if Bellerin did it on purpose, a cynical foul to stop Young there.

The good thing about Oliver's performance was the consitency in applying his criteria. First Bellerin tackle on Young, definite yellow. The second incident you see all the time during a match. And let's bear in mind that Oliver had written down Rojo's "license plate" for an outrageous tackle from behind on Cazorla 1 or 2 minutes before that. He waved play on, but kept it in his mind to deal with that when the game stopped again. So it stopped exactly when Bellerin fouled Young - and when you compare both incidents, you cannot punish Bellerin with the same yellow given to Rojo for a much worse tackle from behind in an off-the-ball incident. He'd have to show Rojo a straight red if Bellerin's foul was deemed yellow card worthy.

Having said that, Wenger quickly realised Bellerin was walking on thin ice and did the right thing from Arsenal's point of view.

Good to see Mehtab is being consistent with his in-depth and thought provoking posts here..

How is Valencia still starting? He's been awful for the most part since returning from injury.

Di Maria needs to be a winger in the PL to be honest, he's never going to be given the freedom of the centre like in Spain.

Mehtab is by far the biggest tool on this forum.

Anyway : Agree with the Di Maria statement. We seem to be more fluid without him. It's not just the space he gets in Spain that helps a player like him.. Its also the fact that the man seems to expect calls for every little push he gets. It's so frustrating to watch.

True, years of being babied in Spain has not helped him. Definitely would like to see a 433 with Di Maria on the right and this rejuvenated Young down the left.

Why is it when we have played well the opposition have been wank? How about the theory that we made em look wank.

Expect to lose this 4-3 if the season is anything to go by.

But where did that 45 come from? Dominant in midfield, defensive pressing, runs in behind? What the hell?

Well that looks like some response to the FA Cup pain!
Very good 1st half, because the team look much sharper with Mata and Carrick. How can LVG leave those two out of the team? I think they have been making all the difference.

However, it's worth noting how pathetic Spurs are looking now. Harry Kane looks like a Sunday League striker so far.
I'm already looking forward to seeing what he will do next season. Will he live up to the hype? Right now he is heaven, called up for England and turned into a media sensation, all pundits greasing themselves over a new exciting English star... This could be his downfall if he lets it all go to his head.

Anyway, I would give Falcao a good run now if I was LVG. Get his spirits up and help him get it going again.

LvG has been so unfair to Falcao it's unreal. RvP was pisspoor for so long without being dropped yet Falcao tries his best all day long and is subbed every time..

I'd expect him to get subbed off today already, tbh.

Even while poor RvP was still better than Falcao imho. I do appreciate Falcao s work rate more but to say LVG has been unfair to him is a bit stretching it imho. He s been giving quite a few chances thus far. Rooney is our best striker in current form and most fans have been screaming to play him up top instead. Now that he is and it's at the expense of poor Radamel he s suddenly being treated unfairly. I don't get it.

P. S. This is not a personal attack on you, just a bit amazed at the stance Re Falcao.

Godtelli likes a dig, he can't help himself in here - it's subtle trolling, like I said before, he's always at it - bit of an obsession with your team he has.

He probably can't believe Man City are just 2 points of "average Man U" right now :APPLAUD:

As soon as I saw that Rooney celebration. I w'd thought it was Spurs getting knockout of the match (Cheers Godo for the vid) .Either way that has to be in FIFA 16
