Manchester United Thread

If he had any foresight, he would have brought on Young instead of Valencia and Giggs instead of Jones to at least have some competent penalty takers on the pitch in the event it goes to penalties, as it did.

You can almost feel the fear from fans of Arsenal and City on twitter saying things like "Oh so United have signed a Chelsea reject, big deal" etc. They're the same people who a month ago were criticising Mourinho for not starting Mata.

He's a quality player, it's baffling that he never started every week for Chelsea, whether he's what United need right now or not is immaterial, he's a constant threat capable of winning a match on his own at times.

To be honest, every quality player we'd bring in would be a needed one.

Look at the players who are starters week in week out - Smalling as a RB, Jones as a central midfielder and fucking Valencia?!?!

I wouldn't mind whoever we sign at the moment.

Stupid to call that a useless signing. Why throw moans when your sitting on top? I think it's good for Mata and the ones that should moan is Liverpool that might be the business that push Liverpool out of the top 4.

Yep, for how poor Utd have been they are still very close to the top 4. Liverpool hardly have a defense left atm so a couple of poor results and the tables will be turned, especially with RvP and Rooney to come back.

Might end up being a big mistake by Liverpool to not spend this Jan and make a stronger push for 4th place. Spurs aren't doing bad either now.

Soooo still no Mata. Sounds hopeful, but this is Ed Woodward we're talking about here.

Plus I seriously don't put it past Mourinho and Chelsea to delay til 12:01 after the window closes, and hold up their hands like, oooops, so sorry Juan. You can play with our reserves til Brazil.

You're too far behind to fear this year

So aside from tracking Gladbachs Herman we are rumored to have offered major bucks for Luke Shaw and/or keeping tabs on Kroos? Michael Owen saying more players to be coming in this window for Utd and Rooney possibly signing a new 5 year deal? Crazyness.:CONFUSE:

I'm whispering it because it sounds overly-pessimistic (like I always am) but I worry about the lack of pace in a front 4 of Mata, RVP, Rooney and Janujaz.

I mean, they're all absolutely brilliant footballers, but not sure any can 'stretch' a defence - and I think in today's world of physical monsters playing football, that could be a huge problem.

But compared to the crap we've been dealing with for 2 months, good lord what a difference it will be to have 3 class footballers playing for Manchester United again.

Speaking of predictions that sound insane, I also think Fellaini is going to quietly come back and be awesome.

:)) some very good news coming out right now with Mata confirmed and Rooney renegotiating a new deal along with potential bid for Luke Shaw.

Mata and Januzaj might not be rapid but both certainly aren't slow, certainly capable of going past players which is most important along with defenders never wanting to commit with both being able to play some brilliant through balls or being beaten.

We also have options though with Nani and Kagawa not even being mentioned, I mean Kagawa might not have blown everyone away yet but he could certainly go up levels when having players like Mata to link up with.

We need a midfielder though which is probably going to be the only position we don't strengthen this window :((

You'll have to keep an eye on Moyes. He's under pressure and has never been handed this much money before. He's also spent a long time on merseyside...

Yeah but with Mata it isn't a big deal, I mean that's a world class player right there.

I agree with you when it comes to some of the more unknown or 'potential' players, that will be the real test.

So far however his 'targets' regarding players were linked with seem positive.

I think I will laugh myself to death if United really extend Rooney's contract for 360k a week.

Yeh that's my point, but it's been Arsenal and City fans on twitter taking the piss about United signing a "Chelsea reserve".

Because he's absolutely not worth it. And it's also a five year deal, meaning he'll earn 360k a week when he's 33.

Ok whatever, I mean absolutely? Rooney is an excellent world class footballer, players like him don't grow on trees and if you don't think that other clubs would pay him the same then I don't know what to think
