Manchester United Thread

I heard the commentator of our game against Chelsea mention that the 10 game rule has been changed and players with only 5 games would get medals as well. :)

I'm not sure he's worth that much anymore either - not to mention his wages!

He'll lose something as he gets older - he has to - and he's finally started getting the odd injury. I also worry about his ego - if he comes back I fear he won't work hard 'defending from the front'.

But, he's still the second best player on the planet and loves our club. So I'd hardly say no.

He's a freak beach, he'll be fine for another half decade. One thing I don't think you can criticize is his commitments on the pitch, he's a born winner.

I think the fee would probably be half of what we paid, 40M for someone with 1/2 years on a deal wanting out but I definitely think wages would be the sticking point.

I think the other thing is I don't see too many destinations for him either, PSG? would the french league be a big enough stage for him? Chelsea? I think other than us I see them as the most likely to tempt him and obviously United because of his connection with the club and most of all SAF.

No he would only leave for United, I agree with that. He's filthy rich already and I don't think he'd go to City/PSG/Chelsea.

But, I could see him staying at Madrid, cozying up with the new coach and becoming more captain like material.

And becoming a striker :)

Just to make things better, the Mirror are also running that Rooney is off to Bayern.

Either this will be just another night of the press making sh*t up, or a pretty massive shift in power in the game.

Dafuq just happened

I haven't read the latest inside scoops on this SAF story but I hope it's just bollocks because if its not were fucked going into next year with Mourinho at Chelsea.

How epic would it be if the him going to Chelski thing was all a big elaborate play by SAF and his dear friend, w/ Mourinho coming to Old Trafford instead and bringing Ronaldo back with him?
The newspapers wouldn't find headline typefonts big enough to break that story haha.

Still, even implying the above is a bit Rawk-ish by me. But hey, it would soften the blow of Fergie's retirement considerably.

Whether any of these rumors are true or not, it's not like SAF will just get up and leave the club all together. He'll leave his mark on the club for many more years from whatever position he's in.

There's apparently a "major announcement" at 2.30pm today.
Moyes?

It's going to be strange - I've only ever known SAF as United manager!

After we won the title I thought he'd do a runner if he won it back within a couple of years. But since then I figured he would want to win the CL again. It's strange how these things can just come out of the blue.

I have hated him for pretty much my entire life but he has been a great manager. Won't feel real to see someone else in the opposite dugout on derby day

Woah, it really happened!

Now the jigsaw is falling into place. I think Mourinho is set to replace him, remember after the Real Madrid CL win how he said "the best team lost"? He's never that humble.

I don't think Mourinho would want to make foes with Chelsea fans and I believe he's already made an agreement with Chelsea but still that's Mourinho and I wouldn't be surprised if he says "f*ck Chelsea, United is my dream club" and decides to go there in the end.

imho, Moyes is the ideal manager to replace SAF.

wow, this came out of nowhere..but if i think about it, it makes sense for him to go now,

it´s best for him to retire as a winner... + with the title taken from City..

Wow completely stunned! Sad, sad day

I really cant believe his time has come to an end. It will be really weird next season without him on the touchline.

Great manager though, definitely wont see another like him and what he's achieved over the past 26 years is top drawer.

It is a sad day. For all of football.

The finest manager in modern football.

He transformed Manchester United from a mid table, cup winning side in to THE league domination super power club with global market appeal unrivaled by all.

The likes of Alex Ferguson in management won't be seen ever again.

A truly great manager.

Who do you guys think will get the job?

my bet is either Klopp or Mourinho...i can´t see other managers better than those right now. The signs of Moyes..i don´t know if that would be true, but it´s better to wait. I think if United get Klopp for example..i doubt it will be anounced before the CL final.. or they will anounce it later...

God bless Fergie, he is an excepcional human being! I never "loved" MU, but always admired Sir Alex! I feel for MU fans like I felt when Guardiola left Barcelona.

Next season will be very strange indeed.

Thanks for everything Sir Alex.

What an incredible manager, will be tough saying goodbye to him. Hopefully Moyes can get the support of the fans.

Thank you Sir Alex

What SAF has done and what he left.... A road to success. Moyes wont be his own person I think SAF will be pulling strings . I think only Mou can deal w the media like no other. I dont know football w/o Fergie in it ? I started seeing it in WC'82

Had to read the headlines five or six times before I believed it. Seems so random, but at the same time makes sense.
